brickzone Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 I designed a small helicopter for my Agents. I have an Agents HQ I've been doing little bits of work on from time to time and the most recent addition was a helipad. Naturally so I had to create a helicopter for it. I used the police helicopter of 7741 as a template for some basic design placements but the detail is quite different apart from the bottom and the tail. First we have a profile view. The helicopter has three Exoforce rotors, some flick-fire missiles and some guns in appropriately discreet Agents fashion: Next, we can see the doors at the rear open to allow a winch to be lowered. Useful if you have to haul a bicycle out of a river or something. Alternative ideas for the top - the silver dome is nice, but I think perhaps the dark grey works better? Also I have an Agents-stickered hull piece for the back of the roof, but perhaps the Exoforce one fits better due to the rotor stickers? (plus there is already "A" on the tail). A close-up view of the front showing the cockpit, guns and typically cheerful Agents minifig. Here the helicopter is back at HQ on a fun-to-land-on helipad. A sneak peek at the top of the Agents base I've had built for a while (I need to kit out the interior and finish some parts before it goes properly public. Quote
Spyder Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 (edited) That's a very nice helicopter, it fits right in with the theme. I love that little tow cable and how you've covered it up. I just can't wait until I see the rest of that base! Is that a glass elevator to the right? BTW: the bley disc looks better, but seeing as it's Agents, I would make it silver. Also I think you should add a little more yellow on there. Edited June 17, 2009 by Spyder Quote
Natman8000 Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 Cool! I think this could pass as an official set. And that base looks lovely, I would love to see more Quote
Corvus Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 That's going to be one heck of a base. I like it! I don't remember seeing any true helicopters with the agents apart from the giant one. Maybe work on the tail, though- maybe make it thinner and more sleek, rather than a big brick? Quote
Tom Bricks Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 The helicopter looks great and I'm looking forward to the base. Great use of the exo-force pieces for the rotors, they fit right in. Quote
TenorPenny Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 The chopper fits into the theme perfectly, and I love the detailing on the weapons. Good use of the Exo-Force blades, too. Quote
Batbrick Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 Brilliant chopper, I just love it. The winch mechanism is a neat detail too, and I can really see the similarities with the police chopper, though yours is better! Really looking forward to that base too. Batbrick Away! Quote
Derek Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 Cool! I think this could pass as an official set. I wish it was an official set! This is about 10x better than all of the other Agents vehicles we've seen out of the actual theme. Really nice work! Quote
Rick Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 Helicopter is nice, but - like more people - I'm really curious about that HQ. It looks like you really stuck to the theme's design with it (the helicopter also fits in perfectly). I agree with the comments about the 'heavy' tail and the yellow accents. Quote
Captain Blackmoor Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 Nice helicopter, I've built a lot in my life. It fits great in the Agents theme, and it is very detailed. I think the studded "stick" (don't know the English term) at the back end of the helicopter could use some more details. Quote
Perterz Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 That's a great helicopter, flawless design. I just would've tiled it but that's more personal preference I guess. The helipad on the HQ looks really good aswell, I'm looking forward to see the rest of the base. Quote
brickzone Posted June 18, 2009 Author Posted June 18, 2009 Thanks for the comments. As regards the tail boom, a more rounded design might be nice, but I'm happy enough with it as is - it is a Lego look. If I get inspiration I may replace it, but I don't want to have something too "fussy" there either. I wish it was an official set! This is about 10x better than all of the other Agents vehicles we've seen out of the actual theme. Really nice work! Well, I am pleased with it as being something absent from the line-up (small helicopter - obviously there is now a big one) and it beats the flying thingy with rotors from Volcano base or weird jet from inside the Mobile command centre. Nevertheless, I think most of the Lego Agents vehicles are awesome. I consider the jet out of Gold Chase to be very sleek and elegantly designed (very simple but effective and one of the few sets where those technic missiles are not sticking out a mile but are subtly placed in place of actual missiles under the wings). I like the chopper bike from Swamp Raid. The speedboat from 8633 was overpriced but very stylish. The silver car from Turbocar chase may be oversized, but it looks gorgeous and all that silver... mmmm. Besides - I modded it to have a pull-back motor in it (thread link)! Deep sea quest sub is an amazing piece of work - it's lovely to hold (indeed it may be underwater but it is very swooshable). OK, so it's maybe obvious I love Lego Agents :) Hope to get working on the interior of that base during next week! All I can say is that it is... interesting (I kind of came up with it as I built - always a recipe for eccentricity). Quote
Peppermint_M Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 That Is a very good helicopter. Your base is going to be big... I am collecting parts for an improvement for Dr Inferno's volcano (Its is so tempting to simply buy a second one...) and plans for a scratch built Agents "HQ" that I am keeping under wraps until I have built it. If my plans pan out, it'll be over a meter long... Can't wait to see your HQ. Quote
captaincreek Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 Nice helicopter, it's been made very well. Thanks for showing it us. Quote
