legolijntje Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 I looked at this list a bit more, and it seems that the rgb value is just FFFFFF, so that means in LDraw it is plain normal white. Why does that color exist then? Well, I looked at one of my own examples, and it is a bit difficult to explain, but it has some kind of material that makes it, well, uhm, a bit different... Anyway, I'll use normal white for now, but I'm interested what Sergio has to say about this? Quote
xSergio74 Posted December 29, 2012 Author Posted December 29, 2012 Hi, the above mentioned colors are still note coded by lDraw so they are not implemented in my application. As told in some previous post, I take care of the application but not of its part library and/or color definition. Thanks to lDraw for the new parts release. Will be included in next application version... Sergio Quote
Palathadric Posted December 30, 2012 Posted December 30, 2012 Will the new update include the newly released LDraw parts? Quote
legolijntje Posted December 30, 2012 Posted December 30, 2012 Yes, he said that in the exact post above your one Quote
Palathadric Posted December 30, 2012 Posted December 30, 2012 Wierd! Somehow I didn't see that part of the post. Quote

Milky White is a translucent colour that started being used by Lego in the 1960s, and was often used for Technic axles. BrickLink groups it with the Glow in the Dark colours, which can be seen on their colour guide under "Milky Colors". It exists in the official LDraw colour file (last updated in September), under "LDraw Milky Colours" and has the LDraw number of 79. The official Lego colour name is "Nature", which is Lego colour number 20, and can be found in LDD (although LDD shows it as too transparent). Quote
Carsten Svendsen Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 Major bug: I made a model (not too big fortunately) and wanted to save it, but then I'm met with "Cannot save to Application folder. Choose another destination". Pressing OK just brings back the same pop-up and holding down enter doesn't work either. It keeps popping back up, thus making it impossible to save to another destination. That happens to protect SR3DBuilder program files from being overwritten. Just select a different folder where to save your model and everything should be ok So I just had this problem again. I made a model and wanted to save before using connection solver (typically causes a crash) and was met with the pop-up dialog box, thereby losing my model. Now, you could at lest change the default save folder to "username\documents\SR 3D Builder\Models" or something like that. If you can't do that simple thing, then please remove the pop-up box when pressing "OK". I'm really annoyed by this. It's such a simple fix. Addition: "Cannot save to application folder" means the ENTIRE x86 programs folder!! I don't want a fix. I DEMAND a fix Quote

Carsten Svendsen Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 I'm very satisfied by hearing that Is it possible for you to make a render program like one for LDD? Or is it possible for you to make a convertible l3b -> lxf file converter so we can render the model in LDD2povray, since the parts are just imported LDD files? Quote

Using the LDRAW ecosystem you don't need any software like LDD2Powray. For any further information, you can read this guide. Anyway the chance to directly export a model for powray or blender could be an interesting (premium?) feature for SR3D. Quote
Palathadric Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 Thanks, Sergio! I look forward to the programme update. Quote

Hi a PovRay direct export is a feature I would like to include in the final 1.0 release, but I still have not thought how to built it. In the while following Calabar directives is highly recommended... Sergio Quote
dvsntt Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 I was just introduced to this software. It is a splendid piece of work and I look forward to gaining a good grasp of it, it seems like everything I've wanted from LDD. Thank you for making this and providing it for free, you are a benevolent and generous man. Quote
legolijntje Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 I just completely reinstalled my windows, so my whole system disk is formatted (because I made a bit of a mess of my old windows). I just installed SR3D Builder, but it doesn't work. According to the requirements page, I need .NET framework 2.0 and directX9.0c. But does it really needs to be these versions? I want to keep my pc as clean as possible this time, and I already have the .NET framework 4.0 and I believe I have the newest directX. And, if I do need .NET framework 2.0, where can I download this, since the link on your website doesn't work? Quote

I'm going to try to include specific dll in next release to avoid this kind of problem, but I'm not sure I will be able to do that. In the while, installing what is needed using the usual link on my download page is the only solution... Sergio Quote
Calabar Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 @legolijntje Microsoft creates a discontinuity between DX 10 and previous ones. So if you want to use DX9 and previous application (the great part of present games), you need to install DX9. Download the latest full 9c redistributable from microsoft website. About .NET Framework install the 3.5 that includes the 2.0. EDIT: oops, anticipated. Quote

Yes, of course I use Windows 7 (although I bought Windows 8, I think it's not really a desktop os), so I didn't installed it. Windows updater only finds and installs the newest drivers, not the ones you need for a specific program... But thanks for the advice Sergio and calabar Quote
dvsntt Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 Wow, I love this software. The more I use it the more I like it. Is there a way to import LDD files by chance? Quote
Palathadric Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 I think there is a way to convert LDD files to LDraw and vice versa, but due to the different part systems, the crossover can be pretty poor, if that. In most cases, from what I've seen, it's not worth the effort, but maybe someone else has better experiences with it than I have had. Quote
legolijntje Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 Wow, I love this software. The more I use it the more I like it. Is there a way to import LDD files by chance? You can export LDD to the LDraw format, but the export won't inlcude all parts or some parts may be wrongly placed. So, it is possible, but sadly it's not very good Quote
Calabar Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 If you need some specified model in LDRAW you could ask some builder to make it for you: the LDRAW official set topic is ever in growth and sometimes builders are undecided on which set will be their next entry. Besides, legolijntje will correct me if I'm wrong, there is a wide database of LDRAW creation that has not be wholly indexed still. Otherwise, the export to LDRAW function of LDD could be a good starting point for a conversion, but remember that LDD misses many old pieces while LDRAW often misses more recent parts. Quote
Carsten Svendsen Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 Hi Sergio Do you have a changelog of current changes since last version? One thing I would like to see improved too, is the snap to axles. I'd like if objects would snap with a quarter stud of precision on axles, instead of gliding on them. Furthermore, when using elements with ½ a stud thickness (i.e. bush) the element will jump all over the place when trying to place it correctly. Sometimes (more often than not) 1 stud thick elements do this too. This is especially annoying when trying to position a half stud bush on a vertical axle. Quote

Hi, have you ever tried the "Use dense connection" option? it is the last icon on the toolbar. Also using the Alternate UI has the same benefit. Sergio Quote
Carsten Svendsen Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 Alternate UI is not for me, I don't like it. I tried using dense connections button, but as far as I can tell, nothing changes. It shouldn't be that hard to make elements snap to any axle with a 1/4 stud of precision. For instance, pins snap to pin holes with ½ a stud of precision, and I never had a problem with those connections - only axles Quote
