legolijntje Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 I've merged this in the normal sr3d topic, since other bugs, problems and questions are reported here too Quote
efferman Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 thanks unfortunately it is a big problem to uninstall all direct X components on my pc. and reinstalling the system is no option because the included direct X is newer than the recommended 9.29 any other ideas? Quote
Calabar Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 DirectX 10-11 are not an update of DirectX 9, but a separated library. You have to install both of them. Quote
legolijntje Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 I too have DirectX 9 (for sr3d) and another version. Quote
efferman Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 iam not able to install a direct x version because the installer stops the installation with following message: a newer or equal version of directX is allready installed. an installation is not neccessary does anyone has sr3d installed on a Win7 x64 personal computer? Palathadric Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 iam not able to install a direct x version because the installer stops the installation with following message: does anyone has sr3d installed on a Win7 x64 personal computer? Yep! I do, but I installed DirectX9 early on when using it, so I'm not sure if SR 3D Builder would work without it, though. I had no such error message poppinng up when I installed DX9. Quote
xSergio74 Posted February 24, 2013 Author Posted February 24, 2013 iam not able to install a direct x version because the installer stops the installation with following message: does anyone has sr3d installed on a Win7 x64 personal computer? You just have to follow the link on my web page to be redirect to correct Microsoft download page. Please notice that you are not going to install DirectX 9.x, you are going to install a DirectX update of directx library of any previous version. Do not search Microsoft for DirectX 9.x install. Just follow the proposed link (now copied here) and choose appropriate language if different from default http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=2da43d38-db71-4c1b-bc6a-9b6652cd92a3 I just tested the above link and it works! efferman Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 (edited) i have tried the download behind this link four times, and every time the same success:the download works, bujt the installation stops with the message above Edited February 25, 2013 by efferman Quote
legolijntje Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 Well, the message says: a newer or equal version of directX is allready installed. an installation is not neccessary. So, maybe you already have DirectX 9, but it is corrupt? Quote
efferman Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 i had installed it on my old system which was running since 5 years and it worked fine. now i have a one week old windows 7 X64 service pack 1 with included Direct X 11 and at every older directx version the installation stops with the message: a newer or equal version of directX is allready installed. an installation is not neccessary. there are some possibilitys to uninstall directX completely, but i dont want risk my fresh activated windows, for a software which i only need because the flexaxles. what is so special at this 9.29 that the sr3d dont work without it? even closing sr3d is impossible without the taskmanager. do i need in five years with windows 9 and directX 13 the directX 9.29 too, or did you somewhere in the future update the resources of this gorgeous software? sorry for the harsh words but you shouldnt forget the people which are not pc experts. legolijntje Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 That's weird. A few weeks ago, I wiped out my whole pc (hard disk) to start with a fresh windows 7 64 bit (also SP 1 and DirectX) and I normally installed DirectX 9.... Quote
efferman Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 i dont know why, but my win7 seems to dont want older versions of programs. actual versions are not a problem, but for example the dot net framework 2.0 is hard to install too. maybe my systembuilder version is the problem. Quote
AndyC Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 You can't install DirectX 9 on Windows 7, but you can install DirectX 9.0c which is a special compatability version that sits alongside 10/11. Make sure you have that download. Quote

You don't need .NET framework 2.0, the newest (4.0 or 4.5 I believe) works too. Because it has backwards compatibility Quote
efferman Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 AndyC, 9.0c unfortunately dont solve the problem, it is possible to install it but SR3D doesnt work legolintje, 4.5 is installed Quote

Make sure you have that download. DirectX 9.0c exists much earlier than Win7 or DX10. From 2004, if I'm not wrong. It is not a special version, simply the last version of the "old" DirecX (pre DX10). You don't need .NET framework 2.0, the newest (4.0 or 4.5 I believe) works too. Because it has backwards compatibility NET Framework v4 or v4.5 don't include previous versions, while NET Framework v3.5 includes v3 and v2. Quote
Palathadric Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 That is very, very strange, because I installed DirectX 9 on a Windows 7 Professional 64-bit computer and it worked fine, I can't be sure, but I think SR 3D Builder worked properly before that as well. I installed DX9 in order to run a different programme. I seem to have said this before. Did you try downloading the package and installing it from your computer? Quote
legolijntje Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 Well, on my newly fresh windows 7, SR3D Builder didn't worked with DirectX 11 and .NET Framework 4.5, but it does work with DirectX 9 and .NET Framework 4.5... Quote
Palathadric Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 (edited) Just wondering, when I merge two .L3B Files into one file with SR 3D Builder, I am then not able to open it in MLCad. Is this something that can be fixed? I don't have that problem when I merge the models in MLCad, but it's a bit more difficult to do properly. Edited June 22, 2013 by Palathadric Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 (edited) Have you tried renaming the file with .dat instead of L3B? Or simply select 'all files' from the open model box in MLcad? Edited June 22, 2013 by Alasdair Ryan Quote
matagad Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 Hello mr.Sergio, is there a trial version for SR 3D builder, i cant afford 35euros right now :/ Quote
legolijntje Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 You can download the free version, just by going to the website and clicking download. You may not use it for commercial goals and the free version doesn;t have some functions. You can find a comparison bewtween the free and the paid version here. Quote
Philo Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 Just wondering, when I merge two .L3B Files into one file with SR 3D Builder, I am then not able to open it in MLCad. Is this something that can be fixed? I don't have that problem when I merge the models in MLCad, but it's a bit more difficult to do properly. When you import models in SR3D, it creates groups. Problem is that one of the groups is named "group 0" and MLCad chokes on that. Open l3b file with a text editor, delete line(s) containing "group 0", it should import fine in MLCad after that. Quote
Palathadric Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 Thanks, Philo. I will try that. When was the latest version of SR 3D Builder released? I can't seem to find it on the website. Quote
