Posted June 20, 200915 yr Still no SP3 out in Germany (except the impules) so I spent my money on this one: (this is a pic of the completed ship) It has a piece count of 825 and I payed 71.99€ @ Amazon.fr Front Box: Back Box: Instructions + Stickers Minfigs: Horatio was transferd from Miami into Space (Hairpiece not part of this set) This set has some nice Minifigs. The aliens are cool but i the space officers look kinda weird. To me it looks like they wear pyjamas. Also a female body print would have been nice. the best minifig in this set (not exclusive to this set. thanks to Lordofdragonss for pointing that out. It's also in the "Maximum Security" set): the statue in to old classic space: Too bad it hasn't one of the old helmets. Additional Note: the Minfig is printed. NO stickers. thanks to CP5670 for pointing that out the vehicle: nothing special but nice the alien space craft: nice little ship but i don't like this huge technic cannon thingies. there is also a nice little robot inside: so the days of Mr Wobbly Droid, S-Bot and G-Bot are counted The front of the ship can fly solo: the technic skeleton of the ship: the backpart finished: interior of the ship: Computer terminals and equipment. Really nice. The Front and the two back thingies can be put together to build a smaller ship: the left-overs: A nice part I haven't seen yet: It's an old Lego technic piece. Thanks to jonwil & Lordofdragonss for the info FLAWS: Big chunky parts: I really hate cockpits, which have no mechanism to open you have to take of the big windscreen to get to the Minifig Also a huge! hole at the back of the ship Additional Pics Ship+Miniship+Minifigs same as above, different angle forgotten Pics of Minifigs: Back of the green/spiky one: the Orange Alien: the white thing you see inside the mouth, is the Pin from the Minifigbody Pics requested by chris_austin: Engines: Close up of the pod close up on the pod-2-ship system Overall Rating Minifig: 8/10 like i said, the aliens are topnotch but the police kinda sucks. Parts: 7/10 lot of technic parts and big chunky things Playability: 9/10 A nice ship with lots of Space inside. You can seperate the two parts of the ship so you get a small ship, and also you can shoot at the jail capsules Design: 8/10 The ship has nice designed engines and weapons. Only thing i don't like, are the jail boxes at the side of the ship. There are somewhat ugly with the big target. Build: 6/10 A lot of technic use and some flaws here and there. Building is partial redundant. Overall: 7.6/10 In my Opinion a must-have set for Space fans. Finally a nice big Space ship from Lego. Not the best space ship out there but it's the best SP3 Set yet. June 20, 200915 yr Thankyou Thankyou Thankyou Thankyou Thankyou Thankyou!!!! As you can see I like the word Thankyou
June 20, 200915 yr Thanks for the great in depth review. I am not really a big fan of these new Space sets although the aliens look really good. is the Orange Aliens head hard plastic or rubber? The shuttle reminds me a bit of 6456 Mission Control as the shuttle in that had different modules which could be pieced together similar to this.
June 20, 200915 yr Author @YG-49 You're welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome ,welcome and welcome @Skipper 24 The Head is plastic. you're right with that shuttle. Maybe it's lego's intention, that the ship looks like a future Space-Shuttle. It's easier to associate with humans that way.
June 20, 200915 yr @Adamlook at the very first picture ;) I meant with all of the figures and mini-ships, but thanks!
June 20, 200915 yr BTW, that white part was first seen in Black as a scuba flipper for the technic figs (I have a pair of them myself along with the air tank and diving mask but not the actual fig)
June 20, 200915 yr Author Thanks for your comments so far. I added 3 more Pics of the aliens @Adam I added 2 pics of the ship with all of the figures and mini-ships just for you @jonwil thanks for the info. Edited June 20, 200915 yr by RangerBob
June 20, 200915 yr Are there any special features other than the prison pods that blast open? does it work well? great review, I realy want this set. thanks for the pic of slizers back and front.
June 20, 200915 yr Does anyone know what the Latin inscription on the statue means? I can make out a few words but not the whole thing.
June 20, 200915 yr Author Are there any special features other than the prison pods that blast open? does it work well? there are no other Special features. But blasting the pods open works surprisingly good.
June 20, 200915 yr Does anyone know what the Latin inscription on the statue means? I can make out a few words but not the whole thing. IN ANNOS TRIGINTA AD CAELUM INFINITUM CONSTRUXIT In thirty years we built to the infinite sky. You´re welcome.
June 20, 200915 yr This set looks big and imposing. There are a few flaws but it still captures everything that was great about the old Space themes, more than any other SP3 set. The overall appearance is great and I like how the different modular combinations you can build actually look good. I think it's the first set to manage that since the Deep Freeze Defender. The only thing I don't like is those black fins on the back. I will probably move them forward or remove them altogether when I get the set. It's also good to see the interior full of computers and equipment, and I like the small windows on the sides. The design is not perfect with that hole in the back and another one brought up in the other thread, but they would be easy to fix. The cockpit should have had a hinge or something though as you said. The small enemy ship would have been decent if it didn't have the shooter on it. I like those shooters a lot more than the flick fire missiles, but it looks too big on that craft. Is the statue torso a sticker or a print? It looks like a sticker but I can't tell for sure.
June 20, 200915 yr Author @CP5670 I thought it is a sticker when I saw the first time outside the box, but it is printed.
June 20, 200915 yr Phew! I've been waiting for someone to review this. Thanks! For some reason, It's not available on S@H... IN ANNOS TRIGINTA AD CAELUM INFINITUM CONSTRUXITIn thirty years we built to the infinite sky. I think there was an argument on that sometime back, wasn't there?
June 20, 200915 yr I wish Lego would stop hesitating and get this into U.S. stores! Mr. Madalorian, what is the thing in your sig about Mythbusters? Edited June 20, 200915 yr by KDog
June 20, 200915 yr Well, I'm sold! By all appearances easily the best large spaceship since the Deep Freeze Defender. Any word or hint at all on its U.S. release???
June 21, 200915 yr ...and that's why you don't do drugs. Nice review of an excellent set - that statue is exquisite!
June 21, 200915 yr the best minifig in this set (also exclusive to this set): Wrong! There is another one in the Maximum Security! (Thankfuly I really love this Space Orc!) A nice part I haven't seen yet Its very old flippers for Technic-figs!
