Posted June 21, 200915 yr The long wait is (almost) over, presenting the Home One: Name: 7754 Home One Mon Calamari Star Cruiser Theme: Star Wars Year: 2009 Pieces: 789 Minifigures: 6 Front Back Side The instructions - there's two booklets: Random pages: The pieces - the set was already built when this review was done so suck it up ! But there's 789 of them. Here's the Death Star hologram: The minifigs - now we're getting somewhere ! Admiral Ackbar Mon Mothma Lando Calrissian General Madine Mon Calamari A-wing pilot The set itself - what do you get for your $$$? The set basicly consists of two sets - the hangar and the control room. And an A-wing of course!! The hangar is built with technic pieces and can be lifted up without problems. There's a crane to lift up the A-wings 454 Big Block engine and a turn-around mechanism. Here you can see the bottom of the A-wing and where it connects to the turn-around thingy: The A-wing: Front Rear with engine visible Front with cockpit open and engine on the outside Ze Big Block And it can move around like a carousel: The control room is decorated in white, and quite comfortable: Front Rear Sides Here's the Admiral himself kicking it back : He can move around quite a bit - check it out!!! The hangar & the control room connects with some technic pins and a sliding axle function. Here's Ackbar at the very edge between them . And showing the slide mechanism that connects them together again - the yellow lever: When the Admiral and his trusty friends sleep the back-up crew comes in and messes everything up : Overall Rating Playability: 9/10 - Lots of stuff to turn and do, merry-go-round here we come! Design: 8/10 - Looks good, no real time to check it out completly. Minifigs: 10/10. Excellent exclusive figure, two Mon Calamari heads! Overall: 9/10. Great ship, great figs, great build. What more could you want? That's all folks - hope you've enjoyed this first hand look on a great set! CopMike Edited June 21, 200915 yr by KimT indexed
June 21, 200915 yr Great review CopMike . My favorite feature is probably the A-Wing as the rest of the set seems a little too plain for me. The DS hologram is one of those Bionicle sphere things right? The new minifigs are pretty cool too especially Ackbar and the Mon Calamari.
June 21, 200915 yr Great review Copmike! The set looks great and i can't wait to get my hands on it! If you got more than one would the hangers connect together well? Also were there any stickers in the set?
June 21, 200915 yr Thanks for the review. I am considering to buy this set now, because the structure actually looks quite good. As ever, those figures are cool but we could have used a few more. The spinning function in the hanger is a good concept and would come in handy with my animating. Greetings, JD
June 21, 200915 yr Thanks for the review. Particularily like the removable engine block. And of course the figures too! A must have for me.
June 21, 200915 yr Thanks CopMike for an awesome review, this set looks great! I'm looking forward to it hitting retail and being able to get hold of one myself. The miifigs are really great, better than I first thought.
June 21, 200915 yr Thanks for the review! This set kind of looks like a MOC of the mostly white-and-bley Speed Racer Grand Prix set crash-landed into an Exo-Force mecha hangar, but the figs are amazing. The Mon Calamari are so cute! Who can resist those clammy orange skulls and bulging fish eyes?
June 21, 200915 yr Who can resist those clammy orange skulls and bulging fish eyes?Obviously not you, since you're the on that forced (not really) me to change my avatar back to Ackbar! (Hey, that rhymes!)
June 21, 200915 yr This looks like a good set! Thanks very much for the review, CopMike! I probably won't get it as I've just bought four of the summer wave and won't be able to afford anymore. I'd really like the Ackbar fig most, but that'll probably cost a load on Bricklink! The A-Wing looks good, but I do have the most recent one anyway, so that's not a necessity. The rest of the set doesn't look very impressive without the ship or figs, but I'll still give it a four out of five. Thanks again! Edited June 21, 200915 yr by ADHO15
June 21, 200915 yr Really playable set and great minifigs! Ackbar: It's a Trap! Pilot: No It's just A-wing-go-round! Weeeee!
June 21, 200915 yr Though i think the design isn't great, i do like those Ackbar minifigs and the Death star hologram. I voted above average because it seems very playable and complete and it definitly has MOD/MOCcing potential. Can anybody tell a SW noob from what episodes this is? Great review Mike, thanks!
June 21, 200915 yr The Mon Calamari are so cute! Who can resist those clammy orange skulls and bulging fish eyes? Agreed! Seems like a cool set to me, even if it means that this will be the only set evar to have the Fishmaids... But anyway here are some questions, Does the Death Star peice, look like, you know. A Death Star? Is there a print on the flag peice control panels? They left EB News incharge of Home one? Quite a leap forward from commanding a Speeder Squad Stauder.
June 21, 200915 yr The Mon Calamari figs are beautiful, but the set isn't. I think I'll just buy them off BL, and maybe the other figs in the set. Your vids were very funny.
June 21, 200915 yr Can anybody tell a SW noob from what episodes this is? It's from Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, set just before the Battle of Endor, I assume.
June 21, 200915 yr While it is a decent set with a lot of new figure, it could have been executed a lot better. First, my pluses. 1. Great Figure. I haven't seen this many new figures in a while. 2. The A-Wing is really a nice little update. 3. Definitely has playability. Faults 1. It could have had another pilot or a rebel trooper. 2. The hanger is way too small. 3. Overall it doesn't feel very realistic. While it's good, it could have been better.
June 21, 200915 yr Thanks for the review/preview. When I first heared about the set I was hoping to get a ship. Maybe a UCS version. But this is fine too. It's a bit like a "movie-set" as is cloud city. Although I would have prefered a ship and I think cloud city was a better execution of the same idea. Therefore, I voted above average.
June 21, 200915 yr Wow, great review! Like the videos :D But.. it's too expensive. The Mon Calamari-heads are very nice! Thanks for the good review. Gruß 911
June 21, 200915 yr Clearly a set centered around some great parts and amazing minifigs. A winner in my book, especially after finding out that these doofuses are included: So, what's the story on that last pic, are you trying to tell us something?
June 21, 200915 yr Oh what a stunning set! I love the removeble engine concept; I'm not sure if it makes much sense, but it's cool just the same! I so want this set... but I so dread the (Australian) price. I'm still reeling after buying Endor...
June 21, 200915 yr Oh! Now I get what the Bionicle sphere thingy is. When I saw pics from the Toyfair, I was confused because there was only half a sphere. I guess someone stole off a piece, which happens every year. Strangely, this one wasn't of value. Well, I don't have enough cash to get this one, since I'm wasting all of my money on CW sets, but I will get that sweet Mon Cal head. It could be... useful. :skull:
June 21, 200915 yr Excellent review coverage! Now, you have truly convinced me to get this exclusive set, not only for its array of minifigs, A-Wing and even that beautiful hanger. I am sure this will make a great OT set in the years to come, similar to Endor Base, which both are iconic scenes.
June 21, 200915 yr Great review CopMike! I knew you were the only one who could get such a good deal on a set that hasn't been released yet
