Posted June 21, 200915 yr "Such is life." - Ned Kelly's last words. (1854-1880) If you don't know, Ned Kelly was an Australian outlaw. Many people (including me) claim he was a hero because he never gave in to the police. During his and his gang's final battle in Glenrowan, they made made bulllet proof armor from metal. The police had been notified about this armor before but had dismissed it as nonsense. The armor consisted of a helmet with eye slots, that rested on shoulders. This was the only separate part. The main torso armor covered front and back. Attatched to the bottom of the torso armor was more metal that protected the groin and thighs. Ned was the only one to also have it on the back. The final battle was the Kelly gang against a small army of troopers (police.) The armor proved its usefulness as Kelly was shot in the stomach but not hurt at all. This took place in a small hotel (one storey.) Ned was hanged at the Melboune Gaol in November 1880. I'm sorry if that wasn't a back story. I was just telling some history. Figure: Ned Kelly (Possible) Theme: Real Heroes. (Possible) Sets: Stringybark Creek(medium) The Fitzpatrick incident(medium) Glenrowan(large) Trooper (impulse) Ned Kelly (impulse) Front: You can see the groin plate. The helmet is an imperial hat. The dark(er) large hole is the aforementioned stomach shot. I modified the shotgun to make it more accurate (longer.) I did the boots with Sharpie. Back. Like I said, he was the only one with a back lower plate. The dark spots are nails. Closeup of the shoulder armor which I forgot to mention above. You're in Kelly territory now. Real backstory: Somehow, the LEGO designer realised that if TLG released a one year theme of real heroes, It might attract more buyers. Even if it was only released for a year, the buyers would start to see other themes. And instead of Clone Wars action figures, ( ) the kids would go straight to the LEGO aisle. June 21, 200915 yr Clever idea with the reversed Imperial hat! The bush shots are evocative, but I think you need to work on your decals. They look a little rough and could use a bit of polish. Maybe one of those Clone skirt things modified would work as a groin plate, too... Anyway, yay for a very original entry!

June 21, 200915 yr This isn't really something I was expecting to see in this contest The idea seems interesting, but you may want to work a bit more on the backstory/theme aspect. I don't think TLG could sell a line like this based only on one character and his (real) story . I'll be waiting to see what you'll bring to us LuxorV

June 21, 200915 yr Of course: it's your entry, so you decide what to make for a theme description And remember all entries are considered WIPs until the final day, so you'll have the possibility to modify it if you wish so 'till the last moment. Good luck! LuxorV
June 22, 200915 yr Author Here is Ned Kelly without a helmet. I don't currently have Battle of Endor (That bearded rebel head would be perfect ) so Obi-Wan Kenobi it is. I don't think he has blue eyes and his hair is brown. And here is a trooper. I don't have a Henry Jones Sr. hat so I used an Imperial hat. If LEGO had made Black Coats that would have been very helpful
July 13, 200915 yr Can we consider this entry as complete, YG-49? If so, I'll use the first pic for the voting; if you want me to use another pic, please indicate which one or post it here LuxorV
