September 30, 200915 yr I've been reading this thread and following it for months. I am really imprseed and commend you on the progress. It's truley massive!
September 30, 200915 yr Impressive. Most impressive. I think this is something every Lego Star Wars builder wants to have, I mean we have all been building (or trying to build) a huge base for our troops, haven`t we? And this has got all the aspects included: sleeping quarters, dining hall, defensive and energy systems and even lavatories (if that is what is located to the left of the dining hall). Have you, by the way, considered including one or more guard towers, to mount searchlights for example? I also like all the smaller aspects, those doors, the medical droid (and I think the concept of a scary doctor keeping away those not actually ill might work too) and the lift to board the AT-ST. Getting into pretty much any walker is hard without additional equipment.
September 30, 200915 yr Amazing work! I'd never be able to make a base like that! I like the way you've got loose parts around to give it the effect of a base under construction, or is that just the parts you haven't got around to putting in place yet? Put some imperials in next photoshoot unless you finish it and it will look fantastic.
September 30, 200915 yr Author Thanks for the comments!! BigCam, indeed, it is massive. 1,6 x 1,6 metres is enormous. And heavy. Lifting it, even with the system I built is difficult because the room is not as big as I would like. Thanks for following the topic so long -months and months-. Commander, you are right. This is a dream that I had in the summer of 2008. And I began with it in autumn of that year. I tried to make something ""real"". I mean, If you build barracks, the soldiers must have beds, showers, restrooms, etc. A "hospital" with a medical droid -yes, the idea is to keep pretending soldiers away from the hospital-. You say about building a guard tower. There will be a big control tower -like in an airport- in the center of the base, on the bunker (copy of the set 8038), which holds the 8 orange deflector shield reactor. About lights...there will be lights. If you look carefully at the center-left of the pic, you will find a series of yellow bars. There will be one of the landing pads for the dropships -medical dropships-. That landing pad will have 4 light towers to make landings easier. Starwarsfanatic, the parts I left are not parts for the immediate construction...it´s just I was too tired to take so many parts and boxes away to make the picture...but some stormtroopers -or snowtroopers- in the pic with some tools would be a good idea. And now, some of the future "inhabitants" of my base -only snowtroopers, AT-ST drivers, dropship drivers and other enlisted personnel or droids are not here-. If there is any rebel, pirate or enemy of the Empire, I suggest you should not attack this base!!!!!!!! Enjoy. Edited September 30, 200915 yr by sigpro
October 27, 200915 yr Author New pic. The bunker holding the shield generator is very advanced in its construction. It will also hold a control tower. As you can imagine, the tower must be increased in height and the external appearance will be different -dark bluish gray bricks-. Other important subject. As this bunker is in the middle of the base, and the base will be torn to pieces as I move to another house...I had to build a floor for the bunker. In a future...I will be able to fix the base again to show it to you. I have also begun the construction of the second floor of the snowtroopers´barracks. I hope you like it!! Enjoy!
October 28, 200915 yr Author Where did you get the fence peices? If you mean the outer fence, in black, I used 12-stud axles but there are parts that would fit better, for example: I suppose you were asking about that. Regards!
October 28, 200915 yr If you mean the outer fence, in black, I used 12-stud axles but there are parts that would fit better, for example: I suppose you were asking about that. Regards! Yes and Thank You!
October 28, 200915 yr Wow... you've certainly inspired me as the recent Hoth sets have tempted me to build a proper base...
November 9, 200915 yr Great update, this is going to be the most massive base i think I've ever seen. That is one impressive amount of snowtroopers too!
November 15, 200915 yr Author Hi again and thanks for the comments. I am to move to a new house, where I won´t be able to have the base always assembled. But the base is modular, so I can assemble and disassemble it very quickly -or that´s what I hope-. Anyway, I have upgraded many buildings in the base. One of them was the energy generators building. It has been enlarged to fit UNDER the bunker where the shield generators are. So it is a higher building, which makes easier the construction of a command tower. Here are the pics. There will be an elevator that will communicate both floors of the building. The generators have also been modified, as so many trans-light bars made it look as something "not serious". The "hospital" has been modified too. It fits in a 48x48 baseplate and it is wider than the previous one. The operations room is larger, the doctor´s room is larger also, as it is the patient´s room -where the very ill or injured patients receive medial treatment- Sorry for the mess in the hospital, but the workers did not clean the facilities for this report!!! I hope you like it. When I have finished the move, I will remodifie more buildings. Enjoy!!!!!
November 15, 200915 yr Some more cool stuff here, I like the extended Endor bunker, that building has great potential. Control tower is cool too.
December 10, 200915 yr Author More updates in my base. The building that holds the reactors has been updated inside. Check it and enjoy!! You may check it!!!
December 10, 200915 yr I really like your base, its huge. You have made a great reactor in that last building. the Inventor
December 10, 200915 yr This is incredible, really it is. I agree 100% with the Inventor, the reactor is great. Good Luck with the rest of you base.
February 4, 201015 yr Author Hi. After many travels abroad and holidays, I bring you a new update. I have focused on the bunker. This bunker, as you know, holds the energy reactors, the shield reactors, the shield projector and a control tower. The control tower has a single operator -an officer- and a security droid. From this control tower he is to check the routes of incoming dropships, security systems -well, there is another control room but I wanted to have two control areas-. The way to go from the lower level -the reactors- to the upper ones is a small elevator. It is not finished yet!!!! Ok, no more chat, have pics!!! New ideas are welcomed! February 8, 201015 yr i love those big-scale projects! still, you really build a lot of details... can't wait to see the finished based. as i kid i could look at pictures like that for hours always discovering something new...
