L-space Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 Still looking good sigpro. The control tower really stands out (up). Now just to find enough troopers for the huge meeting room. Good luck. Quote

Good luck. Thanks! No problem about the troopers. More than 100 "snowies" are ready for action. Enjoy and thanks again! Quote
lightningtiger Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 This base is just getting bigger and bigger - must be the darkside at work ! Your latest addition is AWESOME - mega detail - nice tiled floors and I forgot that even snowtroopers need to go to the toilet ! Also the sleeping quarters are very much imperial - grey - grey - white sheets - the CO hates grey sheets ! Awesome work 'sigpro' and I'm a conformist! ! Quote
Big Cam Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 I love getting the updates on this thread, it's been around about as long as I've been active on EB, I just love it, the details are looking great, I can't imagine your bricklink order amounts. Keep up the good work, your work is admired! Quote
Brickster22 Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 When are you gonna be done! It has been over a year! Any way good job. Quote
John31388 Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 Wow great base you have going there, I cant wait to see it done. Quote
sigpro Posted February 18, 2010 Author Posted February 18, 2010 Hi again! A pic with the appearance of the landing site for the dropships. This landing site will be placed on the roof of the bedrooms -I will post more pics in the future-. The dropships will be controlled by an array of tractor beams that will be located on the first floor of the bedrooms. So all the landing procedure will be automatic, controlled by the operator on the control room -the one that is on the bunker-. It measures 89x41, and will have an additional fence wall with lights. I hope you like the design! Quote
Alex the Great Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 I don't browse the star wars forum very often, but this project is great! Sometimes when large models are done it gets too bland, but you've kept a lot of detail in every part. I admire your dedication, keep it up! When are you gonna be done! It has been over a year! This is a very large project, it takes a lot of time especially when it's 16 48x48 baseplates. It's not like he had all those parts to begin with, it can be quite costly. Quote
Commander_Rob Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 Still looks great, sigpro! I had almost forgot about this thread and project, but I am absolutely looking forward to seeing this finished (eventually). The landing pads and command building look good so far and if you still need ideas for additional rooms and stuff, do you have an officer's mess for the officers to hang out? Quote
sigpro Posted February 22, 2010 Author Posted February 22, 2010 Thanks for the comments! Indeed, it is a long-time MOC. I began in summer 2008...and of course I didn´t have the parts. I have bought hundreds and hundreds of Light Bluish and Dark Bluish gray plates...almost a thousand 1x16 dark bluish gray bricks...hundreds of other bricks... About ideas, of course I need more ideas! The officers´ mess is a good one, but I have this: -a meeting room for the base. -a meeting room/deskroom for the Snowtrooper unit. -a big common lounge next to the gym, with a small bar. That lounge will have a cinema and any other amusements. I have not told you anything about the jacuzzi, the sauna, the gym, the laundry room... Many necessary facilities in a 5-star base!!!! Greetings! Quote
Loganwan Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 I really like the roof. What size is it going to be? Will it be able to hold 5 standard drop ships like the Lambda or are you going to make your own? Quote
sigpro Posted February 24, 2010 Author Posted February 24, 2010 Hi! Thanks for the comment on the roof. Its size will be 91x43 including the fences, but the landing platform will be 89x41. I have built 10 custom dropships -well, that work is in progress- and of course Lambda shuttles would fit, but I can´t assure you how many. If I build a custom, maybe 2 or 3 at the same time, but I am not sure. The landing pads measure 18x14 -the inner area-. Maybe I will have to enlarge the landing pads so a larger ship can land safely. Greetings and enjoy! Quote
ACPin Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 From one MOCer to another, I hate to say the dreaded words that classic-castle.com know too well "Big Gray Wall" syndrome. Here's a link to avoid it and improve on your MOC. AC Quote
sigpro Posted February 25, 2010 Author Posted February 25, 2010 Thanks for the link! I know that this wall is a clear example of the "big gray wall syndrome". I will try to figure out something additional to the wall, but I find it very difficult. Greetings! Quote
CommanderFox Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 New updates looking Great so far sigpro It's gonna be huge at the end! Keep it up! CommanderFox Quote
sigpro Posted February 25, 2010 Author Posted February 25, 2010 Hi again and thanks for the comments! I show you an overall view of how the hangar will look. I have 6 small pads for the AT-STs. They are 18x18. There is a larger pad for repairs, which measures 22x22. The hangar has another extra room -not pictured- which measures about 48x24. I suppose I will place there the speeder bikes -8 or more-. I hope you like it!!!! Quote
Loganwan Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 Hmmm, maybe speeder bike racks. They can be on the wall like a bike on the wall in the garage. Quote
sigpro Posted February 25, 2010 Author Posted February 25, 2010 Very typical, when I was in Newport Beach this year I saw it in every house! Thanks for the idea! Quote
sigpro Posted March 2, 2010 Author Posted March 2, 2010 (edited) 2 pics of my Base under construction, one of them with my AT-AT providing close escort. I hope you like it and figure out how big everything is. Enjoy!! Edited March 2, 2010 by sigpro Quote
Fires-storm Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 Wow, I just took a gander through the entire post here, and I'm very impressed! I can't wait to see more of this, and I love every detail so far! Also, I wouldn't worry to much about big grey wall syndrome, I think the deep grey suits it nicely All in all, I love this MOC and can't wait to see more, keep up the good work Quote
sigpro Posted March 29, 2010 Author Posted March 29, 2010 Hi again. I post new pics of the base, of the command and hospital buildings. You can see the new model of Dropship, which carries 6 soldiers fully protected, and can be use to transport wounded personnel. Can you see the webbed dish close to the dropship? It will be the tractor beam projector, which will help the dropships take land safely on the landing pad. On the upper-right corner of the pic you can see one of the turrets. A small close-up on the hospital. A small close-up on a strange array of antennas for the Command building. I have read many comments telling me that the building is dull, so I decided to add something interesting. I hope you like it! Best regards. Quote
