Fishy Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 (edited) The "King of Pop" Michael Jackson, has passed away. He collapsed in his home this morning. :( Confirmed, and more info in the following links. (Most of the info is the same, though.) CNN MSN Yahoo TMZ Note: I posted this in Culture & Multimedia due to the fact it has to do with Music. Edited June 25, 2009 by Fishy
Natman8000 Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 I heard this. I don't really know what to say, but his hits will always live on in our hearts.
Spyder Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 Just saw this on TV. It's such a said thing, many people will miss him.
Siegfried Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 Darn. He always did work too hard. I'm quite proud to say I've been a long term supporter of him and I still love (most of) his music. I hoped he would be able to make a comeback as he always had the talent... Rest in peace Michael. (Farrah Fawcett has died too...)
Sir Wellington Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 What a sad day. This day will probally be remembered for the famous celebrity deaths on this day.
SWMAN Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 While his music was great, he spiraled out of control and became a creepier and a really bad person. Still, I feel bad about it.
cole Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 I feal kind of bad about not fealing bad about him dieing. I mean it's never good when someone dies (there are a few exceptions) but I just don't realy find myself caring, mostly because of the weird child incidents.
Siegfried Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 While his music was great, he spiraled out of control and became a creepier and a really bad person. Still, I feel bad about it. He was found innocent you know. I do agree though that he was an odd person.... but what else should you expect from someone who was treated as an adult fron the age of 5? He never had a real childhood so he had very little chance to turn out normal.
Rocketbilly Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 I heard about this sad news on a different thread on this very website. A shame. R.I.P Michael Jackson Will/Rocketbilly
prateek Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 today is a dark day in Celebrityville. R.I.P. Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett
Mraz Skintas Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 My friend told me this a few minutes ago actually, and I saw the Farrah Fawcett news as well. R.I.P, your music will always be in our souls.
5150 Lego Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 While his music was great, he spiraled out of control and became a creepier and a really bad person. Still, I feel bad about it. Agreed. He gave us great music....... But as a person,........... I just didn't care for him. Yes, I understand he was "found" inocent, but that doesn't mean i agree with the outcome. There was alot of other things that he did envolving children that there was no excuse for. I don't wish death on anyone. May he rest in peace. But I won't miss him.
Siegfried Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 There was alot of other things that he did envolving children that there was no excuse for. I'm tempted to continue this conversation but I don't think I will. You've obviously looked into it and have your opinion.
daoudbazaar Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 ... feel old suddenly. So beat it !, Mr. Moonwalker ...
Adam Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 Shame. (Farrah Fawcett has died too...) This makes me even sadder. I don't mean to spark any fires, but she was a much better person, and used her dying breath trying to teach people about cancer.
5150 Lego Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 I'm tempted to continue this conversation but I don't think I will. You've obviously looked into it and have your opinion. Although i have my opinion, i respect others as well and welcome a healthy discussion/debate. I don't expect to change anyones opinion on him, just stating my own. I base my opinion on multiple things i have seen him do. (such as the way he physically handled his own children, sleep overs with other children at his never land ranch). I don't believe every testimonial from every child interviewed, as it was aparent that many were just jumping on the band wagon for money. But MJ also put himself in alot of promisques predicaments. Predicaments that he knew he should have stayed clear of considering the way he was being perceived my the media and public.
Luke McAwesome Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 That's sad. Oh well, some of his songs were good. I don't really care for that kind of music, though. Well, I hope you're in a better place, Michael.
Siegfried Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 Although i have my opinion, i respect others as well and welcome a healthy discussion/debate. I don't expect to change anyones opinion on him, just stating my own. Well I'd rather not turn this into a debate; he is dead afterall and none of it matters anymore. Predicaments that he knew he should have stayed clear of considering the way he was being perceived my the media and public. Wth that I can agree. He was a person who never grew up; he just grew old. Thus he never should have been trusted with kids (including his own) as he would treat them as kid would. He was even worse with money. But that doesn't make him a bad person, and that's where I object. Seeing his actions from the point of view as someone who feels the need to act like a kid it was harmless, but since he quite clearly wasn't a kid anymore it does make it all odd to say the least. But I never believed he did anything illegal. Even so, I wouldn't have left my kids with him and any parent who did was an idiot.
Cyclone Titan Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 My mom cam into my room, late this afternoon and broke the news. "Also, by the way, Michael Jackson is dead." And she left my room. Those 8 words made such an impact. Although I can't say I agree with what he might have done, he brought us some of the best music around. He was an amazing entertainer. He was a "Thriller". RIP Michael. And Farrah. Have a good time... wherever you go. CT
SWMAN Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 I'm tempted to continue this conversation but I don't think I will. You've obviously looked into it and have your opinion. I respect your opinion of him as well. He was found innocent, and no matter if he actually was or not, according to the law he didn't commit any terrible crimes. I don't really agree with you comment about him being treated as an adult at a young age and that causing him to be so weird. Thousands of kids are put into much more complicated adult situations than being a celebrity at a young age. That is no excuse to turn out the way he did. Although he was not convicted, he was pretty creepy.
5150 Lego Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 Well I'd rather not turn this into a debate; he is dead afterall and none of it matters anymore. True. Very true. Good point. Many celebrities are faced with difficult and complicated situations working as child actors/entertainers and grow up with no complications. I know every situation is different, but I don't believe his was so different to excuse his behaviour.
Siegfried Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 **Walks away with a tear in one eye hoping that no-one notices**
5150 Lego Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 One thing i will give him credit for.... Like him or not, he was (for the most part) a very positively influential person. He brought alot of joy to many peoples lives all around the world in a way that i don't believe any actor/entertainer ever has been able to do. He was just as popular in Japan and Russia, as he was in America, and Europe. That's quite an accomplishment. As I'm writing this i can litterly hear my neighbors playing his "Thriller" album at top volume.
Captain Green Hair Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 We must not forget that Michael came from the Ghetto and has gotten so big with only the talent he had. He was on stage when he was 5 years old and that can make people quite crazy at a later age. This has happened to many artists, just think of Elvis or Kurt Cobain for instance. His father ofcourse made him into hat he was, and not in a nice way. I wish it was his father who died today. For me a person is innocent untill proven guilty, so i'd like it if we leave all the accusings out of this topic. Respect the dead please. I was a big fan as a child, only at a later age growing into different types of music. But i still remember my moonwalker poster in my childhood room. R.i.p. Michael.
