salty tbone Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 Congratulations! Very impressive work, without even factoring the ticking clock. That sounds like a much tougher job interview than anything I've faced. My building "skills" would definitely crumble under that pressure. The look on your face while you're building is pure intensity. Awesome. You (and all the winners) are an inspiration for those of us looking to land a dream job. Thanks! Quote
MetroiD Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 Anytime, Mr. Favourite Whacker Guess you've already started packing... Here's hoping you settle in nicely in CA! A bit distant for my liking (we were planning on visiting Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, etc., but I guess car rental can take us all the way to California as well :) ), but at least you should be able to find new(er) inspiration down by the West Coast :] Cheers! Athos Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 Hinckley a model builder? I'm out of internet contact for a little while and everyone gets delusions of grandeur... Congratulations man. Steve Quote
Erdbeereis Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 Thanks for all of the info Hinck. Sounds like a really fun job. But, does that mean no more Brickworld for you? Or will you still make the trip? Quote
Hinckley Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 Hinckley a model builder? I'm out of internet contact for a little while and everyone gets delusions of grandeur...Congratulations man. Steve  Thanks for all of the info Hinck. Sounds like a really fun job. But, does that mean no more Brickworld for you? Or will you still make the trip? I have been asked to be a coordinator for BrickWorld and will still be bringing my display. Quote
Natman8000 Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 I have a question. What will this mean for Eurobricks, will you still be able to post things here? You for sure will get some inside info, and things like that. Quote

Hinckley Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 I have a question. What will this mean for Eurobricks, will you still be able to post things here? You for sure will get some inside info, and things like that. I'll still be regular Hinckley here. I will not be posting anything about behind the scenes at the job, as I've already stated. The only difference may be that I'll have good coverage of openings and premieres. But as far as "inside info" goes: No. As I said already, I will sign an NDA and will not be able to discuss anything about the job itself. Quote
BlueBard Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 Sorry for bein one of the last saying this but: CONGRATULATIONS, HINCKLEY! Quote
pedro Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 I'm late with the news, but... many congratulations Hinckley! It's such a great thing getting a job doing something you love... and even though it means relocating, it's always best to follow your dreams. I'm sure it'll all work out brilliantly for you! All the best for the future Quote
Corvus Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 Congratulations, man! That sounded like one hell of an interview, but fun at the same time. Much better than the SATs, at least. Too bad you had to leave Chicago, though. Maybe I'll have to visit you for your birthday. Hinckley a model builder? I'm out of internet contact for a little while and everyone gets delusions of grandeur...Congratulations man. Steve This really, really, really (etc.) needs to be frontpaged. Quote
Joebot Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 Dude, that is really, really amazing. Congratulations! It's such a strange and wonderful feeling to get paid for something that you love to do. As a fellow Chicagoan, I'm sorry to hear that you're headed west, but being a Master Builder is probably not a job you can do via telecommuting! I just hope that your online comics don't fall by the wayside! Good luck with the move, and the new job! Quote
ACCURATEin Posted July 3, 2009 Posted July 3, 2009 Congratulations! You certainly earned that position! Your models in the past have been superb. Quote

Klaus-Dieter Posted July 6, 2009 Posted July 6, 2009 Congratulations, Hinckley! I very supposably will never come to America (and so even not to Legoland California) but there will be surely someone who can take some pictures of the great models you are building and show these pics here to us.
