For the first time in a while, I went on Mask of Destiny, and found that Imatron has sent out a mass PM:

After the vote is finished on the 29th, I will be closing down these forums. Depending on the Vote, I will either make new non bionicle forums for everyone who has lost interest in BIONICLE to go to, or I will link to another already existing site that one of the members has running already. If you still have interest in bionicle, we will be making a new site for the remaining fans to go to. Once it is up and running, we will post the new bionicle forums on www.maskofdestiny.com

I'm still a bit hazy on the details, but it'll be good if MoD gets up and working again, because it used to be a good forum. (Of course, now there are topics like this everywhere.) Should we make an effort to encourage the upcoming MoD forum and prevent it from degenerating too badly?

Since I'm mostly in the know about it, let me be the first to say this is both a good idea, and a bad one.

Good because it's a reboot. Bad because for starters, Imatron won't ban the people who helped drive the forums down the toilet in the first place, and he's demanding he keep his general Video Game forum on the forums, only because he wishes to discuss them there, and ignoring even his own brother's claim that doing so would only cater to him, not the community.

And I was already banned (plus asked for my account deleted), because I flamed one of the bigger trolls. Imatron's defending them like crazy. It pisses me off, and that's why I stay on BS01. It's safer there (helps I know the owner... oh wait...) -Swert

Exactly why I'm not going back. MoD has lost its specialty. It's large community and reputation have went down the toilet, so nobody besides the old don't-give-a-crap-about-bionicle members would want to rejoin, and that's only if the forums remained as one in the reboot. But if it splits in two, the Bionicle one will be near empty.

The Mask of Destiny has rusted beyond repair, folks.

I only went there to bug Purple Dave. :grin:

Not very surprised to hear it all went to hell in a handbasket though.

It got in on the "Bionicle website" thing at the ground floor, therefore having the potential to become a MASSIVE force.

Of course, when you have a guy running it who's posting just his mocs as "news" stories... well my friend, you're doomed to epic failure.

So true, JINZO... so true.

Though on the other hand, PD did serve his purpose to entertain the people. For example, getting himself banned because his Toa Modifications were "legitimate MOCs" and he'll stick to the story.

But one does have to admit, his Bohrok ornaments for Christmas trees was a bit creative, if only a bit dumb (try explaining that to the in-laws every year.)

Anyway, I still figure the best bet they have is to shut down everything before anybody gets a chance to say goodbye to it. Leave no sentimental attachment. Or just ban the trolls. But, they won't. -Swert

Between EB, BZP, and Biosector, there is really no need for another Bionicle site, especially one that would just be riddled with trolls.

Yes there is, because it improves the quality of all sites due to competition, provided that the sites are on par with each other.

Like others said. It died and there really is no need to bring it back. Between BZP, Flickr, and another forum, I get everything I need. I barely even come here for anything Bionicle related.

MoD died a long time ago; It's just that it's finally been announced by the admin. :P

I joined there when BZP was offline. If only I'd found this site instead. Lol.

MoD was fun back when it was still bad (as in a a bad bionicle discussion board) , but no one cared. Just a fun game of social manipulation, really. But now that people want to "improve" it, I'll say that it'll never attract a large or fun community again. Most of the cool people already hang out elsewhere.
