SalvoBrick Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 (edited) Hello! After many months when I had little or no time to work on my city, two months ago I started to rebuild all the buildings following the "corner cafè" system (16 x 16 or 16 x 32 studs), so here there are the results: More pictures here: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=380529 Coming soon: the whole town! mtMOClug Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 WOW! Nice collection of buildings! Great variety of colour and building styles. I really like how you've done the Esso station... just like the real thing. Quote
geiri Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 I liked it. You have made alot of buildings in nice style with basic bricks. Werry nice. Quote
BlueBard Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 You must have been busy! That's a wonderful collection of buildings, I specially like how you follow the classic style and the modular one at the same time. It would be great if you take a shot of all of them combinated in a street or something Nice job Quote
jonwil Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 Nice job on the buildings. the Pizzaria reminds me of the one in the new City Corner set. I especially like the way you did the ATM (with the security camera) and the gas station (there are still gas stations like this in country areas here in Australia) Quote
Raven Brickroft Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 I love how each and everyone of these is unique yet they all go well together. And yes, a shot of ALL of them together is a definite must. Quote
The Cobra Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 I like them too, my fav being the Black and blue hotel. I also like the house on the next pic, the post office and the pharmacy. Quote
Davey Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 That is an awesome collection of buildings! I really like the varied color schemes that you used and the varied detail designs. My favorite has to the the hotel though. That one is just awesome! The blue with the black accents really 'pops'. I can't wait to see your pictures of the whole town put together! -Dave ToT-LUG Quote
Joebot Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 Wow, that's a lot of buildings! Those are all really nice. As impressed as I am when I see people build the super-detailed, ornate Cafe Corner-style structures, I still prefer the simple charm of "classic" City. You've hit the perfect sweet spot in between the two design approaches. Really terrific stuff. Quote
Eilif Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 Very well done! I can't wait to see them in a town together. As you may know, 16x16 modular buildings are very close to my heart. You have done a fantastic job of melding the Erik Brock (Market Street) Syle modular style with the whimsical, bold color schemes of Classic Town. Your buildings would look great in a layout with either CC, or classic town structures. They are all very nice, but I have to agree with others who said that the Hotel is just brilliant! One suggestion for improvement, you have alot of large windows, but no interiors. Even a few people or some basic furniture inside the buildings would go a long way towards improving the overall look of your layout. Quote
DJ Force Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 That´s some impressive amount of buildings. I´m not too keen on the simplicity of some of the buildings that look like classic town rather than CC standard. Mainly because of the primary colors used and the really plain facades, but some of the buildings really are great, with some nice ideas and interesting choices of style and purpose. I´d love to see your layout soon Quote
Commodore Hornbricker Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 That is a great looking bunch of buildings. I like all the various color schemes you have used and you have managed to come up with some good architectual diversity. Will you be arranging them all together? Quote
Modulex Guy Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 Wow! they all look fantastic! Your first two buildings posted sort of look like they were once sets from the early days of town series! My favorite though is your Esso station! it looks so retro! Quote
Teddy Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 Hi SalvoBrick, there are some real marbels in there. Especially the police station and gas station. do you have some photos of them together in a layout? Quote
Beej Posted July 2, 2009 Posted July 2, 2009 Wow, some of those are amazing! You've got just the right amount of detail to keep them from looking too plain, and yet you haven't gone over the top either. I need to create some buildings to go between my modular sets and the classic town style sets, and you've pretty much hit the nail on the head. Great work! Oh, and that hotel is Quote
spade450 Posted July 2, 2009 Posted July 2, 2009 I like the way that you captured the Italian style with the simple signs and the small shops on the first floor with living space above. That is so typical of Italian towns. Some of the shops in Italy don't even have signs. There is a macelleria (butcher shop) a few doors down from our house and if you did not know it was there, you would never know it from advertising -- no sign, nothing in the windows, but a great local shop. I, like the others, would love to see a pic of them all together. Quote
Rick Posted July 4, 2009 Posted July 4, 2009 I've been following your work on Brickshelf, it's always very recognizable when I see your pictures among Brickshelf's recent folders. As Bluebard already said: an excellent combination of classic town (including the use of primary colors) and the modular standard. Definitely a source of inspiration for me... Quote
