I whipped this up this morning... but has been pre-built in my head for a couple weeks waiting for enough time to get the build done in one try. The house is 14x14 and the front porch is 5x12. Mission accomplished.

I plan on making a whole series of these, in different colours and styles.

Enjoy! Comments or suggestions are welcome!

I want to give it a hug! It reminds me so much of Classic Town sets. I would stare at this for hours if it was in an 80's mail order catalog and wonder what the inside looked like. Is there a stove? cabinets? a bed? This is really excellent in so many ways. One small suggestion: instead of the roof configuration you have where the porch meets the roof, I would use these pieces for the porch roof:

and leave the house's roof unmolested.

Other than that I really love this MOC. Very simple, but classic and almost perfect! :sweet: Nice work. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Wonderfully built! The scale is perfect, and nicely detailed for its size BRAVO! A whole street of these would be great :classic:

Thanks everyone for the kind words! Let me expain how I got to this scale...

I've been working on a few Cafe Corner style buildings - sets, MOCs, and MODs. Our club has a large collection of Creator houses and we often have duplicates at the shows. I wanted to create housing from the late 1800's to early 1900's that fit better into the scale of the Cafe Corner standard.

This yellow one, was one of my first. fp_lego - there's the dog! Commodore Hornbricker - voila a larger scale (slightly different style).

I found the scale was just a little too big, it can't fit onto a 16x32 baseplate - well it can but the roof can't with another building beside it. Also the sidewalk being 8 deep - the same as Cafe Corner style buildings - doesn't allow for any greenery in the front yard. I'll be scaling down the yellow house to fit in better with the lime green house.

I based this blue house on the design of the yellow one... an experiment to see if the smaller house worked. This new design is no longer modular, it introduces the 14x14 structure and it still has the 8 deep sidewalk... so no grass to mow. The sidewalk has been tweaked since the pic was taken and is now 6 deep.

I guess I'd have to consider this series of houses a work in progress. Each house that is built reveals new modifications for the next. The plan is for a total of 5 or 6. Set our Club standard, so that other members can create their own MOCs and give some originality to the group layouts.

Nice. I really like that color. And it goes well with the yellow windows. It is a bit small (or perhaps short)... even for the CC standard, but just a little bit.

WoW! That house is ssoo cool. Nice porch. That would be a perfect little LEGO neighborhood if combined with your blue and yellow houses. I think that the LEGO City line should have a couple of these. Clearly, LEGO town has a lot of workplaces but not too many homes!

Good Job.

These are very lovely houses!

I don't think the lime-green house is too small at all. Not all people live in multi-storied mansions, you know?

I'm just wondering, since it's titled "Grandma's house"... Where's the grandma?

That's a lovely little house, I think it's almost perfect. :thumbup::classic:

Can you take the roof off to look inside?

She is probably sitting inside on the rocker, and thats her grandson after spending a day at grandma's.

Anyways, mtMOClug, your houses are very nice, especially the lime green!

This is brilliant. I like your chosen style and scale. There seem to be a spate of beautiful buildings coming from EB members that combine CC and Classic towns styles.

As to comparative scale, it all depends on what you think the current range of CC series buildings represent. If CC and GG are representative of single family homes, then your houses might be a bit small. If however you think -as I do- that CC and GG are apartment buildings, then your little houses are just the right size.

I'm also pleased to see that you managed to use lime green in a way that is cute and vintage, but not ridiculous. Well done!

When I saw your title (Lime Green House) I thought that it would look pretty strange but the color scheme works great. It's nice to see some ideas for other parts of the CC/GG city. Not everyone wants to live downtown over one of the shops.

Agreed, the lime and light-blue houses are representative of small homes on this scale. The yellow one is - as you point out yourself - a little too large on this scale. More importantly, it isn't as cute as the other two.

She's inside baking cookies :classic:

The roof is not removable, but can instantly modified to do so if you wanted. There are no plans to complete the interiors of any of these... they are specifically designed for our club's public displays, and need to be built with strength in mind for easy transportation between storage and shows. In fact... if you saw the inside it wouldn't be pretty... much of the walls are made up of 2x2 or 2x4 bricks... you can't tell though, can you... :classic:

Great job, I'm definitely stealing it inspired by it.

Welcome to the frontpage of Classic-Town.net.

Wow! What do I say!? Thank you ImperialShadows!! :classic:

And please, take the idea and run with it... I'd be flattered.

Uber Cute! So this is the batchelor house, how about a family house now? Just to suggest some addons, a small tree and a dog!

It's not a bachelor's house, it's grandma's house

I cannot wait to see a whole neighborhood of M&M (or Skittles) houses around. The design is really good, and looks very solid. I happen to live in a tiny house that has a similar "cute" look to it, and is part of an older area where many of the houses look very similar. Can't wait to see more.

Thats so nice. Lime green is such a great colour, at first I also thought it a little small, but hell, not everyone lives in massive houses. Love the roof and the way the porch is incorporated. Great stuff.
