Posted July 8, 200915 yr So my mum and dad are taking me to Legoland. We land on the 17th and depart on the 24th so those two days are out. During the six days we are going to spend two days at Legoland (the other 4 days will be spent at Disneyland, Seaworld, the San Diego Zoo, and a free day). So this topic is for giving me advice on what's fun there and posting your own plans for travelling to the one, the only... LEGOLAND.. CA. ~G~
July 8, 200915 yr Buy stuff! In more detail, get LEGO sets! That's one fun thing you can do at LEGOland... But seriously, I've been to most of these places(Not sure about the San Diego zoo), but LEGOland is by far the funnest of them all. Edited July 8, 200915 yr by Strikerâ„¢
July 9, 200915 yr Author There are now eight more days until I board my flight. Please reply! ~Glacarcheo~
July 9, 200915 yr Hey, man, don't sweat it. When you go to SeaWorld, you have to see Shamu(Or however you spell it) shake his tail in the little show he does, it's sweet. And LEGOland, well, there's so much to do, and so much to see! The rides are awesome. I especially enjoy the Aquazone thing. (Lucky Hinckley, you get to ride on the rides for free, don't ya? ) I've only been to Disneyland once, and it was like when I was 5 years old. Don't really remember much.
July 9, 200915 yr The last time I went to the San Diego area was about 6 years ago I think. Here are some of my thoughts: Disneyland was definitely my least favorite. Even 6 years ago, I felt that most of the rides were geared towards very small kids. The lines were quite long, and the food was mediocre. I think it's worth trying, as most people seem to love it there, but it wasn't for me. Sea World is pretty fun. The shows are entertaining and they have some nice things to do, plus the landscaping and overall scenery is very nice. It's overall a good park to visit. The Zoo is great. Certainly one of the best zoos I've been to. Lots of nice exhibits, and easy to walk around. Of course, LEGOland was my favorite. Sure, the rides are for the most part for small kids, but simply seeing all of the cool LEGO related things is worth it in itself. Miniland is outstanding. Seeing tons of landmarks in LEGO form is really fun. The stores are good too, but unfortunately Pick A brick is done by weight there, so you can't fill up a cup for a flat rate. Still good though. Hope that helps you a bit.
July 9, 200915 yr Ah, so-cal. What a great place to vacation. I envy you. Well I'm just happy I live in nor-cal. Have a good time! Oh, BTW, bring lots of money, trust me, It's a great temptation to buy stuff from LEGOland. ~LW 8~ Disneyland was definitely my least favorite. I took my own lunch though, so I don't know how the food tastes like. And yes, the rides are kinda boring. But I was 9yrs I think so I guess I can't comment on that. Hope that helps you a bit. I just went to the Disneyland website and they now have some newer rides geared towards teens. And yeah, some of LEGOland does seem to be for little children, but I don't care, at Eurobricks, we're all children at heart! Oh, and I'm a Bionicle fan, so PAB doesn't hold any interest for me. July 9, 200915 yr Was down that way 2 years ago with the kids. The San Diego Pier...great art and seeing, up close, tall sailing ships and the USS Midway. Oceanside...walking out on the breakwater, finding starfishes in the tidal pool. San Diego Wildlife Park (about an hour East of LEGOLand)...nice to see wild animals in the wild and not in an enclosure. Check out the LEGO Imagination Centre in the Disney Mall area...when we went they had stuff that LEGOLand had sold out of. DisneyLand Fireworks...have not seen an equal display apart from fireworks competitions. Definitely gotta go back! Good times. Edited July 10, 200915 yr by winbrant

The Wildlife Park sounds really fun, I'm sure my little brother will love it! Now I think instead of a free day we'll go to the beach in the morning and the the hotel and "free day" stuff in the afternoon. Sorry though, no one in my family is a ship lover!

July 13, 200915 yr Congrats on going to LLC! Here are some tips: - Don't be a noob and visit the miniland first. Hit all the popular rides first. Later in the day, a lot of people are going to arrive and the lines can get really long for the rides. At that point you can stroll through miniland at your leisure, eat lunch, or catch some of the shows. - The BBQ in the castle area is good and there is ice cream and apple fries nearby for dessert. The pizza place next to duplo land is also very good. - LLC is a big loop. Personally, I like going going counter clock-wise as you get to most of the popular rides that way first. - Go to the Lego clubhouse and tell them you are visiting from a foreign country and if you could get a commenorative brick. If they are nice, they'll probably give you the brick of the month, but usually it's reserved for annual passholders. Sometimes they give out bricks at the end of the Lego factory tour as well.

About the commemerative brick, I'm part Norwegian (mum) part African/Indian (dad), so I'll look the part!
July 18, 200915 yr Author Today was a travel day. We landed in San Diego at 1:45. The resort (Sheraton Carlsbad Resort & Spa) is really nice, has a good restaurant, and a privat entrance to LEGOland (which is in the Castle section). Today we took a shoppers pass and went into the big store. I bought a Lamborghini Galardo LP 560-4, and my brother got a green baseplate 31x31 I think), the LEGO education 30 minifig pack, and 6177 (which is quite cool! XD).
June 14, 201212 yr So I lived in LA County growing up and moved away with my family due to work 4 years ago. This is before LEGO came into my life and my kids' lives. We'll be visiting my parents at the beginning of July and making our first trip to Legoland with my sister and her family. Any recommendations? Any specific shops within the park have good brick assortments?

Any specific shops within the park have good brick assortments? While The Big Shop at the entrance has the most sets, buying bricks by the 1/4-pound is at the Market and the LEGO Club House. I would recommend that you look at the selection at the Market when you enter, then the LEGO Club House when you get to it, then buy what you want, and go back to the Market on your way out if you want. Similar for sets: check The Big Shop when you enter, look at the other shops as you go, buy what you want at them, and buy at The Big Shop at the end of the day.

Any specific shops within the park have good brick assortments? The only shop at LLCA that offers bulk bricks is the Club House, (if you go left at the entrance to the park like most people do, the Club House is just past the Driving Schools) but the bricks are sold by weight, not volume (as at LEGO Stores), and when I last went, they charged $9.99 for only a quarter of a pound of LEGO. Most of the sets are actually going to be a little more expensive, since they're not sold directly by TLG. The park is a great place to buy CMFs, though, because they will have tons of them out for sale at MSRP, and if you get one that you don't want, some of the shops will let you trade it in for a minifig someone else didn't want, or you might be able to trade with an employee who has the minifig attached to his name tag.
