My friend has been thinking for a while that there should be a baseball theme.

SETS

wrigley field and other ballparks

He thinks they should make Midi-scale ballparks and they should make minifig sets like batting practice and bullpens.

They should also make a team set that has a minifig for each player. It would probably cost about $20 USD for each team set.

And in other news, my friend will soon become a member of eurobricks  . His username will be Go Cubs Go! . He is a really big cubs fan and you should also credit him for this  . He will take over this topic.

More ideas and details coming soon.

I love baseball so I would be all for it but they would have to be pretty big sets.

that would be nice, but parks wouldn't be in minifig scale

Mah, sports didn't do so well did they? The football sets were ok, I think I got one of the smallest. The basketball was fun enough but the springy legs were naff.

I suppose the size of the American market could make it a viable theme, but not global (the only other place baseball is hug is Japan, however there isn't much market for Lego there).

Cricket and Rugby are more popular in countries besides America.

Lisencing would be a pain for Lego too...

Well, I'm a baseball person, but I'm not sure about making baseball sets.

I don't know how they could give a minifig a batting stance, and a baseball mitt might be

The sets would have to be large, and it might turn out like that Sports theme.

I don't think a baseball theme would be all that great, but since I'm a baseball person I'd probably buy the sets. Maybe a UCS field....

I guess so.TLC could maybe try it again  .Still, post your ideas.

I agree. I love baseball, but if sports with a wider global appeal weren't overly successful (as far as I could tell), I don't think baseball would be viable. After all, there's a reason the Olympics dropped it as a medal sport.

I don't know about full blown baseball sets, but I would love me some licensed caps my minifigs could wear.

Maybe they could do some sort of backyard sports line instead of limiting themselves to just one sport.

Lisencing would be a pain for Lego too...

they won't have to license anything, like hockey or soccer/football except NHL as a name and Adidas for the balls

While it sounds like a good idea, I don't think it's plausible. If they did make a theme for baseball, I could see it being similar to the hockey canister sets from a few years back.

Good idea :laugh: .Minifigure "battlepacks" might sell a good amount.Though people would buy baseball themed sets, they might die away fast and quickly  .Hopfuly not. Still, keep posting ideas on ALL SPORT SETS  !

they won't have to license anything

No license = no Tigers = no awesomeness

"battle packs" would be awesome

I have the basketball sets and I use it all the time. I really like how they made the theme but the soccer was quite terrible. The goal keeper's rubber band kept on breaking and when I replaced it with a normal rubber band it snapped the handle for it. Baseball would be quite hard to make with a normal minifig. With pitching it would be very hard to work out all the kinks and even then it may not look great. I feel that pitching would only work if you had a pitching mechanism. Baseball mits I could see working just by putting them on the minifigs hands. Batting you could have something like the soccer goal keeper tye thing

This would need a lot of liscences for the teams, though. The Brickarms baseball bat sure does come in handy, too.

For TLC sake, there could be "made-up" teams such as "Space Police Sluggers" or "The Lego Power Hitters". :classic:

If they're going to do it, they need to get the official MLB license. Otherwise, I don't see the point.

Personally, I think it's a terrific idea. Especially if they made well-known players, much like they did with the NBA mini-figs. I want an Albert Pujols mini-fig!!!

I think that sologuy369 has a point with the fake names, but if there were fake names they wouldn't sell as well.

Actually, I would pay for lego NOT to make the cubs.

Honestly though, I think only half of the world would be interested in this (North and South America as well as some of asia)

Sadly, I don't think this idea would work for TLC.

Ahab out................................

LEGO made a HUGE 1:20,000th scale or something of Fenway Park and sold it for $10,000 the money going to the Jimmy Fund.

I would make sure you were never got in a mile of TLC.

P.S. GO CUBS!

  • 3 weeks later...

I guess I'm the only person who would enjoy seeing TLC make lego sets :sing: . Oh well :look: .

From, Go Cubs Go!

I think a couple other people on this board enjoy it when TLC makes sets. :hmpf:
