I will be doing a review on it similar to the snow groomer, but I leave for vacation tomorrow. I doubt I will have adequate time tonight to do it justice, so it may have to wait until I get back! paul_delahaye Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 I saw both sets at legoland windsor yesterday, The box was about twice the size but I still have difficulty justifying the cost of the wheeled loader, if it had only come with a motor it would have been much better value for money, I just don't understand the price jump this year on technic sets? The previous wheeled loader cost me £40 (I guess about 10 years ago when it was released without looking it up) This one is nearly £70 so quite a jump Paul Quote

I remember 8459 was $82 on S@H here back in 1997 and the 8464 reissue was $70. The $80 price of this new set is better than I expected, considering that it's bigger. So many axles etc, looks awesome. And, seeing it next to that Bulldozer makes me want that too. So tempted to skip the new Crane Truck and get the Dozer instead, it looks mean! :) Quote

I may just have to get this set after all. The design seems to be just about flawless (unlike 8258), and even as a parts pack it includes tons of gears and three linear actuators. Quote

The only dislike from the 'looks' perspective is taht the bucket is a bit further out then I thought it would be, but it looks good with the 4-wheel drivetrain. All it needs is a motor to be hooked up to the engine and it could move. Quote
