user Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 Okay my ferret got out of his cage somehow and chewed up one of my favorite pieces that I own! I was wondering if a replacement part would be free from TLC or do they cost a lot? So I would like to get my question answered please! Quote
Siegfried Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 In your case probably not. If it was missing or damaged TLG will often (but not always) provide parts. They know what sets have part problems; for example a batch of AT-ATs had the wrong torso. You can but ask though. Quote

Tom Bricks Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 Out of curiosity what part is it? I believe they only have replacement parts for newer sets. Quote

ILikePi Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 (edited) I've found that LEGO sends free parts if you lost only 1-2 parts, and if it is your first two or so times getting a replacement part. If you get more than five or so, or you ordered parts twice already, you usually get charged (sometimes $5 USD for a single part!). I've already ordered some parts and got them for free, so I know. Fumoffu Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 My situation isn't exactly the same as yours but it might help. I bought a set and it came with an incorrect part. TLG sent me the correct part for free when I told them about it. At least I think its free. I did get a letter that had a price for the part but there's no demand for payment or invoice or anything. blueandwhite Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 Honestly, LEGO is pretty good about replacement parts. I hope that people don't get in the habit of asking for parts they've destroyed or parts they simply want though as LEGO's policy could easily change. In my many years of collecting sets, I've only had 2 instances where I've needed a replacement part and both parts weren't exactly high-demand bricks. Abuse the system too much and it won't be there when you (or others) actually need it. Quote

Well I am kinda scared because I just bought the SP3 GE and HP and both of them had a misprinted part in them but I don't know whether or not to get a replacement part because 3 in one week sounds suspicions. The Green Brick Giant Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 I had several sets with screwed up pieces or missing pieces a few years ago and those are always always free. Hell I bought one set I thought was fine from TRU and it was missing a bag, i listed every part I was missing in that bag (at least 50) and they sent me every piece for free. I then lost a few pieces and asked for replacements but it was only two pieces and they didn't make me pay. I think it depends on how often you use it, and how big the pieces are. So don't abuse the system and it should always be free when needed. Quote
Shadows Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 Well I am kinda scared because I just bought the SP3 GE and HP and both of them had a misprinted part in them What was misprinted? Can you take pics? It would be unusual to get two misprinted parts so quickly in different sets, but there could be a widespread problem that would need to be reported, so letting us know what it was might help to confirm that. If that was the case, they've probably had a lot of complaints already and wouldn't be surprised. Quote
Erdbeereis Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 I wasn't even aware that the Hyperspeed pursuit even had any printed parts. Mostly stickers as I recall... Quote

Lego would surely be happy to know of any problems right away. Don't hesitate to let them know what is wrong, and what pieces you think should be replaced. Quote

Sorry no prints but slizers hip piece had blurred printing and one skull twin had the outlines of his face slightly to the side I'll see if I can get good pics of the head but I am not to sure about the hip piece. But I'm just scared because 3 parts in a week is an awful lot and I don't want them thinking I am a thief. Edited July 17, 2009 by computerbug Quote
HumanPackMule Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 TLC was great with me when one of the 2007 Bionicle joint pieces linky link would continue to break after only trying to take the set apart once. Quote
JCC1004 Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 I seem to have bad luck on figs. They always have problems. I got a e-mail from lego about getting some head sayind I'd have to pay for it and most of my replacments were fig parts, but I got them anyway. My Elsa'a head was a misprint with one of the pupils messed up. I checked the thing and any exclusive fig parts are gone except Indy stuff. Quote
