Alright. If this is goin' somewhere, we have to settle some dust. Firstly, i'd like everyone to post their preferred situations, since we all have clashing opinions. When we have enough different ones, a poll will be made to decide which road to take. I guess i'll go first. Remember, these are all just things we would like to see ourselves. None of these posts are laid in stone. :classic:

Setting/year:

Not too distant future. Sometime in the next 2 or 300 years. It will allow the use of Town/City pieces and torsos aswell as Spacey ones. I think the town has been going for around 2 years since the cause, so really only newcomers would be in ragged clothing.

Cause:

Accidental/Y2K-esque, not a war. To me, it just adds a whole lot more mystery, and there won't be any cursing of other countries for starting the war.

Area:

A small town from before the cause (not a booming city with skyscrapers) just a civil suburb, mostly in ruins with a couple of well kept buildings. The ground colour is hard for me to choose. I have a fair collection of both tan and brown, but at the moment, neither would suffice for several modules. So, either tan or brown/reddish brown.

Buildings:

A school converted into a town hall, small houses, a large ruined building now used as a gatehouse (part of the surrounding wall, remember the castle build), some type of Barn/farmhouse, sheriff's office/home

Features (could take up baseplates, or just be small things you'd like to see) :

A rotting sports field whose seating has been converted into homes, a house or other small building used as a part of the wall/fence, craters, and of course...

Recycling. No, not green bins everywhere, but reusing objects for a different purpose than their original. The wall will have the best signs of this, but i'd like to see it all over.

People:

I really don't see a problem with having mutants, once they're not in every module.

Cyborgs/robots/humanoids/whatever you want to call them also sound good to me. And I can see some great uses for them.

Military presence...well, considering the cause i've chosen, I reckon there may be some presence. Maybe they're mapping out the area, supplying aid, or just lost. I just don't want to see the town overrun with tanks, flying machines, and soldiers in every module.

Scenes (interesting scenes you think could be put in somewhere) :

A gang attempting to breach a weak section of the wall (from the outside of course)

Hey, I think this is a great idea, here are my thoughts.

Setting/year:

For me, I think within the next 100 years would be a good timeframe. The setting would be a few months after the incident.

Cause:

Accidental/Y2K-esque, not a war.

Area:

The downtown core of a city, with many of the buildings destroyed.

Buildings:

A fortified plaza, along with some partially collapsed office buildings.

Features

People:

A ragged group of survivors. Only one type of none human enemy, I.E. Zombie, Humanoid, etc.

Scenes

An opposing group of survivors attempting to get in an steal supplies.

Setting/year:

2030, the earth is becoming fertile again. it is 18 years after a comet strikes, and the sun has begun shining.

Cause:

Comet strikes in 2012, causing worldwide famine and disease. Governments fail to feed everyone, causing rebellions, civil strife, wars over food and good growing land.

Area:

Small suburb.

Buildings:

Town plaza, surrounded by small partially repaired buildings, in 3 blocks. this is surrounded by a 2 story makeshift wall. At one side of the plaza, a former school acts as a town hall. Outsude the walls are several small houses, a stable with animals, and farms.

People:

The wars are over, and our civilians are currently struggling to rebuild their lives.

Scenes

People farming, 2 men standing guard at the gate+3 patrolling the walls, a trader coming in with supplies, some people building and rebuilding various structures.

This is a great idea, I can't wait to see how it comes together

First off, thanks for doing this!

Now on to what I have in mind for this project:

Setting/year

A distant future, max 100 years from the present. Mankind might have left the Earth for good by then. It would get too spacy IMO.

Cause

I'm more leaning towards a fatal disaster created by mankind or even natural other than a huge war, albeit involving aliens.

Area

Small town citycenter in a natural area. It could allow to create dead greenery, desert-alike with dead plants. The green lkandscape could now be a tan landscape with brown scattering. I have a crapload of normal tan bricks and plates to create landscapes (and I find that a very important addition to MOC)

Buildings

Lots of posibilities here, ruins, lots of ruins. New buildings were build up using any resources provided.

People

Normal survivors trying to build up a new city/home.

Some Piraty rebels taking profit from the situation and trying to take control of this new world.

I also have no problems with mutants and cyborgs and things like that.

Scenes & features

- Lots off recycling and new uses for odd parts

- Lots off trashed elements and chaotic order

- Trades

- A gatehouse defending the new city in progress from anything with other intentions.

- Survivors in search for tools they need

- An ambush/battle scene against mutants

- A meeting in the middle of a ruined city square where survivors are trying to agree on what to do next

- Infiltrating mutants

- Training field for survivors to become a little more confident went they face mutants

...

Colorsheme

- Tan, the surface color

- Brown, landmarkes, wooden constructions and all

- Bley for buildings and ruins

- Black, always looks good as an additional color, also maybe for roads or what's left of them

- Dark blue/green/red maybe for detail fillers.

I'm game with the brown grond, on the inside and tan outside.

I'de like to make a downed building,now part of the fence, under attack by a gang.

I must thank you for using a Post Apoc setting, i was wondering, if the city would be sort of like Megaton on Fallout 3? it has a big recycled wall made from old plane wings and other veichles.

Setting/year:

Not too distant future, maybe about 50 years from the present, and about 20 years after the moon crashed to the earth.

Cause:

The Moon falls to earth, causing widespread destruction, survivors hid underground to escape it's wrath, and when the resurface they find that the whole planet is left in ruin.

Area:

A small town in a rural area.

Buildings:

Elementary school, turned into a town hall/Public Residence, A few destroyed buildings, A large barn thats used as an armory for the townsfolke, and a country manor located on the outskirts of the town but still inside the town wall.

Features (could take up baseplates, or just be small things you'd like to see) : A large radio mast that is used to call out for other survivors and traders. A shard of whats left of the moon located in the town square untouched as a rememberance to the event.

People:

Rag & Tag band of survivors, traders moving in and out of town, An authority figure (Mayor, Sherrif etc.)

Enemies include Mercenaries hired by other towns, and a Cannibilistic Tribe.

Scenes (interesting scenes you think could be put in somewhere) :

Mayor/Sherrif dictating at town hall, Mercenaries trying to climb the wall, Cannibals Devouring a citizen outside of wall.

USA, is the most used country, so we could try and set it somewhere else?

Britain would be a good choice as nobody has really shown what it would look like Post-Apoc?

Or we could go for a less developed country like africa, as it is already barren, we could explore what it would look like after such a disaster?

Ooooh, discussion has begun! I'll wait a few more days to put up the poll, so a few more can submit their ideas.

Its clear we only need to vote on a few things: Cause, Location (not country, in a town, city, desert etc.), People.

The time period seems agreed upon.

There's this store on bricklink: (http://www.bricklink.com/store.asp?p=gtg128b) that has a lot of those 1x2 wood bricks. Look around in the reddish brown section and you should find them for like $0.02 if you buy over 100. We could use that as our wall.

Skinnyboy I was wondering if you want me to start making things to get the basic concept down. I have a few ideas for how the walls can be built and the style of the buildings.

Whilst I like the idea of this Community build, you really need to lay down a size for modules, perhaps a town plan is in order. Once you have a list of the buildings you want to include, then you can get to work dividing up the town space etc. May I suggest a run down bank, corner store, petrol station, diner etc. Modules should probably be built on 32 x 32 bases to take in the whole size of a standard building etc. People will have more ideas for buildings than I but its a start. Then once you agree on buildings and roads etc, you can plot out the town plan. From here you can give people an idea of which sides of the modules will require fortifying etc from invading mutants/zombies/people. Then people can pick modules to build etc.

Keep the ideas coming, but as you have started it Skinnyboy, you will need to be firm about the basic specifications so that the modularity and theme can be spread over all MOCs to truly make it a community build.

@ISC: This is still in the discussion/planning stage. Once the factors leading to our build are established, then we decide what to build, how many modules etc. It would be great to see some modules from you!

scene:

space ships ( from the alliens) flying over destoying buildings

the stateu of liberty in ruins

a virus that makes 90% of the world population go insane and turn them into cannibalistic mutants

nowhere to run nowhere to hide...

Location: Hawaii! Lol, just kidding! Anywhere which is a large city.

Survivors: Mutants, small gangs, some military forces but hardly any.

Cause: Disease released, mutants formed, nuke areas with mutants, rebellion

Scene: City, mostly destroyed, quiet mainly in the day but mutants and gangs come out at night, occasional mititary patrol. All on all. Virus in certain sectors transforms people into mutants or zombies. Everyone knows where the other is. Mutants have good sense of smell and hunt in packs.

Personally, i would like the military presence to look like the resistance figs from Terminator that Dunechaser built some time ago. I think it's posted on the brothers brick blog.

Setting/year:

In 2012 Without laws minifigs started acting violent, causing all hell to break loose. A year after the incident.

Cause:

After the moon collided with the earth a unknown virus quickly infected billions. The surviors found a cure, but with the militery fighting to contain the infected, there were no laws.

Area: New York suburb. The town is partly destroyed.

Buildings: The town in split in two. One half has Walmart, a clothing store, school, and a police station. The second half is made up of gangs with 40 intact houses. Fire constantly blazes the town.

Features: running water and gasoline.

People:

Rugged group of townies, gang members, teachers , and two docters.

Scenes:

People walking by a wall made up of roofs and wood.

Just to make sure no one takes my idea, I think I will do a department store like Walmart that is half destroyed. Oh, and can anyone help me to create a type of buldozer to use in one of the buildings?

Setting/year:

Some time in the near future, say ten to twenty years from now and two years after the apcalypse.

Cause:

Scientists working in a nuclear power plant dropped the medicine asprin into one of the holding tanks. The tanks exploded, due to a chemical reaction and the staff there, 100 or so, were inffected by a cannabalistic type of disease. To control the quickly spreading disease, nations around the world fired missles in random areas in an attempt to control the outbreak.

Area:

Small town in the middle of the desert. Located inside a heavily built wall, the citizens only source for water is from a single yet large and un-ending well. They live like we do today, et with the fear of many, and the scenario they have been put in.

Buildings:

Many houses that are thrown very roughly together, a half of a build that is used as a town hall (My idea), A road or trench to transport citizens throughout the haven.
