It's going to be City for me too... first because I am a fan and second because TLC was really back on track this year. They introduced the cool accesory for wheels too. The only complaint I have is the police station should not be on an elevated baseplate. I bought them all, 50% of the sets more than once, and the supercute mini firecar as many times as 10 (me + gifts)!!!

Vikings.

Honestly, there were alot of good sets this year, but as a new theme, the Viking line certainly impressed. Star Wars, while great, wasn't really anything we haven't seen before. Heck, after the AT-AT, the Sandcrawler is a bit of a disappointment.

I voted for Star Wars. It was the theme I bought the most of, and there have been some truly fantastic sets, suuch as the Turbo Tank, Imperial Inspection and the Sandcrawler.

City was good, porbably the best City theme in ages.Viikings were great also, although i didn't get any because I don't have enough room.

Also though Ferrari was excellent. The two Enzos are great, and the Truck is probably one of the best LEGO sets ever!

Vikings = *sick*

Bleah. Gaudy, unattractive ships and bionicle-style monsters. I was all prepared to like them, but when they came out it was just disappointing.

I ended up voting for Star Wars, but City would probably be my runner-up.

Null vote. All of the lines had some great qualities, and some pretty bad ones, too. Harry Potter disappointed with minifigs and the dragon, but The Graveyard duel, along with others, were very good sculpts.

Vikings had a great concept, but the animals were pulled off poorly. I still believe the Prototype pictures were better.

City was... City. Great vehicles, but buildings were subpar.

Bionicle is having some kind of rebirth, but the sets action features are still a long way form good.

Star Wars was very true to the movie, expect for Minifigures. Could they actually make Grievous ACTUAL SIZE? He's a frickin foot taller than most of the characters!

Knights Kingdom? Better than last years', but brought down by lack of new minifigs. New armor? Cool, but I want new Helmets and whatnot.

But Dino did it for me. Very good vehicles, very good figures, and, I must admit, I was quite fond of the Dinos.

Damn, should've voted for Dinos.

Is there really any question? Vikings are ahead by nearly 2 to 1. Vikings had its flaws (which I've pointed out to numerous people ad naseum), but it is still the best in what I still consider to be a somewhat weak year... not as weak as previous years, but still weak nonetheless.

The competition:

Star Wars: Star Wars is Star Wars. Its cool and all, but doesn't get me excited. Also the fleshtones really knock it down for me.

KK2: I was excited early on, but got a couple of the sets and lost interest in it. They just don't fit with any other lines.

City: Getting better, but still nothing like it could be. What's with all the emergency services and construction? Who are these people rescuing and building for?

Harry Potter: One of the lines better years. Some nice sets... ruined for me by the fleshtones.

Bionicle: where is the smiley with the finger being stuck down the throat?

Dinos: decent designs on the vehicles. Doesn't do anything for me, as I'm not real fond of the curved slopes and the colors they use. As to the dinos... see my bionicle comment above and add a "what the hell?" for good measure.

I voted SW. I collect a little of everything, but primarily Star Wars, as it appeals most to me. Second on my list would probably be KK, but I prefer the old gray armor and weapons from classic castle to the new polychromatic figures. However, Vladek's Dark Fortress was well done, IMHO. Not as nice as the stony look of the classic sets, but still quite nice in terms of size and dark styling. I have the large Viking ship set and found it interesting more for display than anything else...just too limited , although the semi-auto cannon was....fun, and so very historically accurate, I might add. ;) City was...city, although I love the direction they're taking making trucks and such more to scale with the figs. Dino sets were so-so.....a nice attempt at creating a pseudo-military line. HP didn't offer many sets this year, but I feel they made up for quantity with quality. My wife collects them, and I've always been impressed. The Graveyard Duel was brilliant! However, my inner geek wins me over, as I have found the majority of the SW sets appealing either for the model, the parts in the model, or both. I think this theme above all the others pushes the Lego designers to innovate....I'm sure they look at some of the ships and wonder how they'll make this or that and have it come off passable. Are they perfect? Of course not, but they convey the spirit and enough asthetics to bring the experience to life for me.....I think, young or old, that's all we can ask for in a toy.
