I just wanted to know if there has ever been a theme for war. If there hasn't can understand why. Thanks!

From, Go Cubs Go!

There has never been a modern day war theme. There has been the Wild-West and Pirate themes, both of which include weapons. However, these themes don't solely promote violence, but adventure and excitement. A war theme would simply promote war.

Oh, and the Cardinals will beat the Cubs any day.

LEGO's been pretty non-political with it's sets. While war has been depicted the factions are pretty mucn non-descript. We have Knights, but they have fanciful heraldry. The Wild West has soldiers but they stay away from Union vs. Confederates. The Ninja line is similarly generic. The closest I think we'll get to an actual war line is the soldiers from Indiana Jones. I wouldn't expect real military vehicles any time soon. Heck, other than special licences, cars the firetrucks and police cars that make up the LEGO world are non-descript too.

Indiana Jones could certainly be considered as a war theme, and the Red Baron and Sopwith Camel UCS planes.

Pretty much everything with conflict suc as castle, pirates,... could be considered as war aswell.

TLG is extremely against violence such as wars. I'm surprised that they even made Indiana Jones, I'm happy, but surprised. War is bad, and I don't endorse it, but it is there, and I don't like it when people pretend that it's not. Thankfully Lego doesn't do that. They do acknowledge it, they just don't want to make children's toys of it. Besides, I'm happy with Star Wars and the rest of the other supposedly non-violent themes we have today. In kid's eyes, someone has to be the good guy and someone has to be the bad guy. Lego isn't going to say that this one country is good and another is bad. It's just the way it is right now. Hope that answers your question. :classic:

I remember hearing that, a long time ago, that Lego refused to make green bricks because they feared that children would make tanks with them.

Perhaps, long after we are gone and the events of our time have passed into history, Lego would make sets based on what we would consider modern military.

I thought war means that two or more countries go at it with each other, and civil war is when two large factions within a country make war. So by my definitions at least, Castle is the closest theme that could portray war, but it's wars are nowadays more fantasy-based.

Anyway, there are many discussions about a military theme in the Other Themes section, I don't think we need to discuss that further here. :sceptic:

Sorry, I guess this is a bad topic  . I do think it would be too violent. Could someone lock this one up? Thank!
