Sad news indeed, but i'm glad he isn't "Spongebobing" "Adventure Timing" or "Fairly odd Parents-ing" it.

The story has been told, and we will hear more of him in the future!

I just got into Gravity Falls a couple weeks ago, but I'm not terribly upset that it's ending. There's something gratifying about being able to see a story through to its end. Plus, there's always the possibility of a movie spin-off or something like that in the future.

And for me personally, I've still got a backlog of "cartoons I should have watched by now". I'm finally caught up with Steven Universe and Gravity Falls. I think Over the Garden Wall or Star vs. the Forces of Evil might be next on my list.

Eugh, I absolutely can not stand the fanbase for Steven Universe. It reminds me of Adventure Time, how tumblr-oriented that got. Show isn't even good, I don't understand the appeal. That and Undertale, whatever that is.

I watched Over the Garden Wall because a friend recommended it. It was pretty good, but looking back it reminds me too much of the two things I mentioned before.

I know it's not for everybody. Just my two cents. :shrug_oh_well:

While I haven't seen Star, I will highly recommend OtGW. Since it's only 5 episodes, it's a quick watch and easy to knock out in an evening (or whenever you want to watch stuff). Animation, music, and story are all very well done.

On the Gravity Falls topic, I don't really mind it's ending. Story's been told, let's not drag it out. Much like OtGW, I enjoy shows that have a clear beginning and end and tell a complete story. Any more would just be unnecessary.

If you judge a TV series by its fandom (especially the worst drama that comes from that fandom), you're gonna have a bad time. My time as a fan of MLP has taught me that. Heck, if I judged Lego by the worst parts of its fandom... I don't know if I'd be here on Eurobricks, that's for sure.

Steven Universe's humor (which relies A LOT on awkward character interactions) isn't for everyone, and the actual overarching plot develops very slowly at the start. But the series has excellent art and music, the characters develop consistently and are multi-faceted (not just because they're gems ), and if you care about diversity and shows that defy genre- and social-norms, there's very little else like it on TV that performs quite as well as SU. I'll admit that I got into the show largely through being exposed to it via Tumblr—but I'm not active in any sort of fan community and when fandom drama happens I'm generally content to ignore the drama and enjoy fan art and comics in small doses from friends and acquaintances.

Though on that note, what animated shows would YOU recommend? I am in the market for another show to binge.

I just recently finished the "Magi" series anime (or what has been made so far): Magi: The Labrynth of Magic and Magi: the Kingdom of magic.

It's about as wonderfully whimsical as Fairy Tail, and the use of characters based on the Arabian Nights is genius. The show is delightful, as long as you can get used the main character's voice. All of the main characters are fleshed out and there is so much story potential to be had (as it's an ongoing series, with a third leg on its way after the manga reaches a certain point).

Speaking of Fairy Tail, one of the longest over arching stories (like 100+ episodes) finally wrapped up, and it nearly had me in tears, it was so wonderful. Now another long teased threat is rearing its ugly head and I can't help but get ecstatic for what's to come.

I need a really good anime to watch once this is over. I need a really good action series (excluding: Gurren Lagann, Code Geass, Future Diary, Sword Art Online, and Attack on Titan. You should watch all of the aforementioned anime, by the way. Especially the first two.)

I give my highest recommendations to Gravity Falls, Wander Over Yonder and Star vs. The Forces of Evil. (I don't know what you've seen so I just recommended what I recommend everybody). If you're also willing to watch anime, I recommend stuff like Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann (Gurren Lagann in the English localization) and One Punch Man for a heck of a wild ride and a huge smile at the end. If you're into darker stuff that is ultimately hopeful, I highly recommend Steins;Gate, Puella Magi Madoka Magica and Parasyte.

I have several recommendations:

Noragami (feels a lot like Soul Eater and Fairy Tail mixed into one, what with great action, humor and amazing visuals)

High School DxD (warning: VERY ecchi, though it has a really good storyline and fantastic action)

Steins;Gate (a lot like Mirai Nikki in that it has time travel as a key element and takes its time to build up the characters, though the action doesn't really unfold until halfway through, it is VERY good. This is my all-time favorite anime thus far)

One Punch Man (hilarious parody of superhero/shonen, great animation, currently airing)

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure (similar to Fairy Tail in that it's cliche shonen done right, with great characters, creative fighting and amazing villains. If you decide to watch this one, watch only the 2012 JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, the 2014 JoJo's Bizarre Adventure - Stardust Crusaders (+season 2) and next year's JoJo's Bizarre Adventure - Diamond is Unbreakable. The 1990s and 2000s OVAs and movies are very bare-bones, the 2012, 2014 and 2016 anime are where it's at.)

Kill la Kill (over-the-top action just like Gurren Lagann (in fact the people that worked on TTGL worked on KlK)

FLCL (insane ride that leaves you wondering what just happened but with a smile on your face)

Neon Genesis Evangelion (+ End of Evangelion) (just like FLCL only a bit more sensical and a lot darker and grimmer)

Rebuild of Evangelion (like NGE but a lot more sensical and A LOT darker and grimmer by the third movie, the fourth and final movie is yet to be released)

Parasyte (great action, very philosophical series. Bit slow at the beginning and at the end but one heck of a ride all the way through)

Higurashi When They Cry (Higurashi no Naku Koro ni) (+ 2nd season, Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai, which was never dubbed) (horror anime at first, later tearjerker murder mystery. Gripping all the way through)

As an aside, I don't recommend the dubs for any of these series except for (maybe) FLCL, Steins;Gate and Kill la Kill. Higurashi got a very badly dubbed first season and the 2nd was never dubbed, Parasyte's dub is very lacking, Eva is inconsistent throughout, JoJo is meh (mostly because the seiyuu in the original are so good), High School DxD is a definite no and One Punch Man hasn't even been dubbed yet. Can't speak for Noragami as I haven't checked out the dub.

I don't really like Steven Universe (I can never hate a cartoon, because i know of the massive work that is being put in each and every one of them, some more than the others *Cough* Gravity Falls) it has his good side's, the idea of a gem being is nice, but i absolutely find it uninteresting and maybe even boring at some parts. I will try to watch it more, you gotta give everything a shot, but i think it's just not my cup of tea.

I like my story to have a good run and a very solid end (Like Gravity Falls) that's why i can also recommend over the Garden Wall, the music and scenery (Together with the amazingly well drawn backdrops, layer over layer) take me back to the time's i was sitting in my grandparents' garden, eating home grown berry's and listening to old music or tapes.

I really like the vibe it gives me, kinda scary and at the same time cozy and warm at safe, like i'm drowning in a winter forest in between the leafs but at the same time landing in a cozy fairy tale home. i can defenitely recommend that cartoon!

How can you judge the appeal of something you don't even know, in regards to Undertale?

But, yeah, I never judge the quality of something based on its fanbase. I really don't participate in fanbases besides LEGO because a lot of them, for movies and TV shows are filled with the type of people I don't want to associate with. Admittedly, I have to check out Steven Universe soon. I can't stand the fanbase (where I see fans wanting to associate it with everything in other places and talk about it a lot) but I've heard a lot of good things about the show itself so I'm sure it's worth a shot. Also, I saw the first few episodes of Gravity Falls when it first came out but I've heard the show has become a lot better, so I must check that out, too.

You must watch Gravity Falls soon! There are anly two episodes left for the entire series. One that comes out tomorrow, on Disney XD and the last one, Weirdmaggedon part III that will be an hour-long special for the grand finale!

As for its ending, I'm kinda sad, but happy that it's ending as a masterpiece and not as those long, crappy shows like Spongebob or Phineas and Ferb IMO.

I forgot to mention Kill La Kill, Steins;Gate and FLCL. I wouldn't count Steins;Gate as much of an action series, though, as it's more of a mystery series.

Also, I primarily do dubbed, as I'm a very slow reader, and hate having to pause. I'm not against sub, though. This knocks out One Punch Man, and Higurashi for me (until a dub surfaces. Can't wait for the former).

I had no idea Noragami had a dub, and I'll be checking it out soon.

I was afraid of getting into JoJo, as I was having a hard time of what to watch first. Now that you've cleared that up for me...

Evangelion has been on my list for a while. Just can't pull the trigger for some reason.

I've also been waiting for shows like Akame Ga Kill and Parasyte to get further into their dubs before I dive in. Waiting for Seraph of the End has been an irritating ride. I might start them up, soon, though.

The likes of Aldnoah Zero, The Heroic Legend of Arslan (newer one), Spice and Wolf, Shakugan No Shana, and Seven Deadly Sins are also on my list, so it gets really hard to choose.

I don't follow the show at all, but the creator has announced that Gravity Falls is over after the next couple of episodes.

That's no surprise to me. It's been pretty clear that Weirdmaggedon is the climax this show has been building up to and after its over, the story will have been told. As the creator said himself, there are far too many shows that end before they can finish (or even begin) telling their story or ones that go on far past their prime. I wouldn't want either to happen to this show, so this is a good thing for me. Looking forward to tomorrow's episode and the finale.

I think Over the Garden Wall or Star vs. the Forces of Evil might be next on my list.

OtGW is definitely worth checking out, especially during fall, if only for the eerie and nostalgic visuals and atmosphere, although the story and music are pretty good as well. It just has this great old-fashioned fairy tale feel to it.

Star on the other hand... I can't stand that show. I don't know what people see in it. To me it's just another hyperactive, comedy-focused cartoon like so many others.

If you judge a TV series by its fandom (especially the worst drama that comes from that fandom), you're gonna have a bad time. My time as a fan of MLP has taught me that.

Agreed. Speaking of which, yesterday's episode was great. I can't believe I'm living in a world where a cartoon about little ponies produces better pop music than most of the stuff that's on the radio these days. It makes a great comment about today's pop culture and is a nice sendoff for the writer. I also can't believe the next episode is the season finale already, but I look forward to it. This has been a very strong season.

Also, South Park just keeps getting better. I knew there had to be a reason why there is suddenly so much change in this show and the payoff is about as hilarious as you could expect. Can't wait to see where they take it from here!

So... I know this topic is to post about shows you like, but...

I just recently finished the anime School Days. Dear Lord, where to begin... I watched it after hearing a lot about it, and curiosity got the better of me. I'm not going to say the show was bad, but the main character is the most horrible person. I felt ill after watching it.

So if you feel super brave, go for it. Otherwise, I advise staying away.

Also took the time to watch the Animator Expo videos. Most of them were fantastic with only a handful I didn't really care for. If you get the chance to watch 'em, I'd say go for it.

Currently I'm starting to watch Paranoia Agent. After the first episode, I'm already hooked. But it's Satoshi Kon's work, so that's expected (even though I've only watched one of his other works, that being Paprika, but I've heard great things). Can't wait to see how everything goes down!

Hey Arnold fans rejoice!

‘Hey Arnold’ TV Movie in Works as Nickelodeon Aims to Revive Classic Shows

Arnold was by far my favorite of the old Nick shows and I would love to have some closure, but honestly, I have a bad feeling about this. The fact that the guy who is responsible for some of the biggest atrocities of animation, Alvin and the Chipmunks and Sanjay and Craig  , is in charge of this and is planning to "modernize" it for today's kids makes me not look forward to this. And the fact that everything Nickelodeon produces these days is utter crap except for TMNT doesn't boost my confidence. :sceptic:

Yeah, the episode was fun. It was basically Gravity Falls' take on Cloud Cuckoo Land.

Yes! A fresh convert! I knew I'd find someone on this site who also watched it!... still waiting on Kintobor to take my suggestion from half a year ago! :poke::laugh:

How did I miss this callout again?

I did watch the first few episodes of Steven Universe, and I did rather enjoy them. I just need to sit down and catch up. Then again I keep saying that about all these shows and I never do. This, Gravity Falls, Star Wars: Rebels, TMNT, I mean is there a show I'm not watching right now?

I really liked the laid back tone the show had. It had it's moments of action, and the action was good, but I think I like Steven Universe best when it's just hanging around and doing stuff. I know that seems weird, but this whole show has this sort of mellow vibe to it that's really rare, and really refreshing. Steven himself is a likeable kid character (gasp!), and the other Gems are also really interesting characters.

What no one told me about though was the nightmare fuel. Fry-bo, Steven slowly turning into a swarming mass of cats; this is the stuff I'd expect out of Steven King on one of his weird days. Seriously though, I did enjoy it, and I just need to force myself back down and continue watching it.

Speaking of stuff I've watched: MLP's season five finale.

I enjoyed the time travel aspect of it as well as seeing what it would be like in worlds where certain villains won, but... technically wouldn't all of the villains won? Or at least Nightmare Moon would've? Imagine the alternate timeline where it's all the villains fighting for control over Equestria and different members of the Mane6 joined the different leaders? Oh, this is a time travel story and we're getting into nit picking. The alternate timelines were the best part about the episodes, as well as the different, often depressing roles the other characters had. This episode was surprisingly intense at moments, like the Equestrian army battling against Sombra's forces, and Chrysalis steam rolling Zecora, and I'm surprised just how dark the undertones were throughout. Actually, the Sombra timeline was probably my favourite. There was something so utterly bleak about it, and I loved seeing both the frontline and the industrial side of the war. Nightmare Moon's timeline was also pretty cool, what with Rarity as a maid and Rainbow Dash appearing to be in some sort of authoritative position (which looking back makes sense, she was tempted by the Shadow Bolts), and the Chrysalis run timeline was also surprisingly bleak. Red Scare/Enemy among us kind of stories fascinate me, and the paranoia aspect was pretty cool in those scenes. The alternate timeline stuff was top notch. Still wish we could've seen a Trixie run world and a Sunset Shimmer run world, but perhaps I'm pushing it for Sunset since her plan was kind of stupid.

My one big gripe is Starlight Glimmer, and it's also a gripe with the show. Her redemption came to quick. I wish this show gave more time to allow Starlight to grow as a character instead of negating her to small background cameos every ten episodes. I think her becoming a reoccurring villain throughout the season and slowly learning about her through episodes like that would've made this episode stronger, but quick redemptions are a thing this show sort of does, and it's become more apparent here than anywhere else, besides maybe Equestria Girls. I love Starlight's backstory and her arc in theory, and how downright cruel she could be at times taunting Twilight, and I suppose her backstory makes sense, but the info dump kind of hampered her whole motive and redemption, and in the end the episode. Looking back, I enjoyed the episode a lot, and I commend it for doing something different. It was an all around interesting story and the timeline stuff was cool. It looks like Starlight Glimmer's sticking around, so here's to the Mane7. Next season it'll probably be the Mane8, with Evening Dazzle showing up or something. :poke:

Well, with nearly 2 1/2 years since I watched the entire Animaniacs series; I have finally started on the individual Pinky and the Brain episodes. What surprised me is that while I haven't watched a lot of them since the days Bush was President and Bionicle was on Mata Nui... I still remember a lot of stuff, and jokes from episodes. Even stranger, some of the jokes are still relevant 20 years later... Kind of wish that mice duo was still around though, they would have a field day making fun of how messed up society is now.

What else, my college dorm doesn't have a TV hooked to cable right now; so I am not watching a lot of new stuff. I still haven't seen any off Star Wars The Clone Wars: The Lost Missions despite the fact I watched all five seasons on Cartoon Network before it was canceled. I have only seen two episodes of Star Wars:Rebels while I was on an airplane. What else, I haven't watched The Simpsons in forever either, although I occasional watch clips from classic episodes online.

Yeah, I'm kind of lazy right now with my cartoon watching... School does that to people I guess.

Jack is back!! This still remains one of my favorite shows of all time and I can't wait to finally see a conclusion to it! I'm very glad Tartakovski is involved again and the fact that it's on adult swim makes me more confident that it wont end up like something like Teen Titans Go. I wonder who they will get to voice Aku. Greg Baldwin did a great job on taking over for Mako as Iroh, so my vote is for him.

Speaking of stuff I've watched: MLP's season five finale.

Yeah, I liked it too. It wasn't as good as other season finales, but still a good end to a strong season.

I liked how it kept with the cutie mark theme of this season and how personal it was. You're right, the time travel aspect didn't make much sense. All the different ways of preventing the Rainboom should've all resulted in the same outcome: the Nightmare Moon future or one where all the villains fight each other over control of the land (which I think is what the last wasteland future was supposed to be the aftermath of). Having each villain control each alternate future seemed to be done just for fan service, but it was cool to see these different worlds, so I'm ok with that. I think the Sombra future is most peoples' favorite. It's the one that's the most fleshed out and the most like a real war, which is ironic considering Sombra is the worst, most underdeveloped villain of the show. And yes, Starlight's redemption was pretty quick, but as you said, this is kind of common for this show and I think it made sense here. Seeing the devastating effects of her actions in addition to finally talking to someone about her issues made her realize the errors of her ways. So yeah, it was enjoyable, but the story could have been better.

Agreed, a P&tB revival would be excellent. I'm sure Maurice LaMarche and Rob Paulsen wouldn't mind reprising their roles. Who knows, with so many nostalgic shows returning nowadays, it might be possible.

I still haven't seen any off Star Wars The Clone Wars: The Lost Missions despite the fact I watched all five seasons on Cartoon Network before it was canceled. I have only seen two episodes of Star Wars:Rebels while I was on an airplane.

I'd say skip The Lost Missions, they were terrible in my opinion. Get caught up on Star Wars Rebels instead. It's overall a much better show, especially from episode 11 onward.

By the way, did anyone watch The O.W.C.A. Files? I enjoyed it quite a bit. It was better than Phineas & Ferb had been in a while. Doofenshmirtz got a bit annoying sometimes, but the subplot with the bugs was absolutely hysterical and Karen the Cat was pretty funny too.
