Tamamono Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 But, I mean, last week's episode when Spike and Rarity were falling to their deaths, and Spike confesses his crush to her. Those tears that well up in her eyes as she puts her hand (hoof?) over his mouth. Man... Yeah, that was definitely a "D'awwww" moment. I think it's great that the animators/writers are acknowledging the brony fanbase this season! All the Derpy cameos, meme-worthy lines ('The fun has been doubled!'), and now this! They're doing a stellar job! And after seeing some of the more... questionable... fanart, I really try to stay away from all of that as well. I agree, the Drawfriends can be a bit over the top at times. A little off topic, but has anyone seen any good pony mocs? I've seen one pretty good Rainbow Dash sculpture, but that's about it. Any ideas for making minifig scale Mane 6? I made a few LDD MOCs (the mane 6 and CMC + Derpy and Big Mac), but they're much bigger than the standard minifigure. I think they might even be bigger than Belville 'figs. A minifig scale Mane 6 would be pretty tough challenge, and while it might be doable, they would probably look a bit blocky and wouldn't retain the 'cartoony' appearance like in the show. Yeah, that Rainbow Dash sure is awesome, and so is this Fluttershy and these! Woah, those MOCs are amazing! I hope the artist of the last two (Mare-Do-Well and Tank) makes more creations like those! Speaking of minifigs and ponies, here's my sigfig as a pony. *snip* Great design! Instantly recognizable! Here's mine. Hey, great ponies, guys! Here's mine: Quote
Aanchir Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 Hey, great ponies, guys! Here's mine: I have a feeling the horn should be sharper, so it looks more like the cutlass you've chosen as a cutie mark! Quote

just2good Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 Eeyup, same here. I guess we owe Emperor Claudius Rome a lot for drawing us into the herd. I still don't get why that thread was closed. If we can have a thread for every other major fandom, why not this?! My brother introduced me to MLP in December 2010. At first I hated it, but I eventually gave in to it in August 2011. I too frequent Euestria Daily now, although I try to keep my visits to a minimum as I can't take all the pony madness on there sometimes. Plus I HATE shipping. I only read the Nightly News Roundups daily, and look at the fan made videos that they post on there. Quote
Oky Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 I'll just add my list: Uhm, this thread is titled "post about cartoons/anime you like", not "list every good cartoon from the last two decades". I only read the Nightly News Roundups daily, and look at the fan made videos that they post on there. I don't even read those. I go there mostly just for the comics (kinda thinking about making some myself) and the links to the HD episodes (Don't worry, I still support the show by recording it). The holiday episode was corny as heck, and confusing regarding the history of Equestria, but still pretty nice. Nice sigfig-ponies by the way, guys! I was worried I was the only one who did that. Tamamono Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 I have a feeling the horn should be sharper, so it looks more like the cutlass you've chosen as a cutie mark! Haven't you heard? Blunt horns are in this season. My brother introduced me to MLP in December 2010. At first I hated it, but I eventually gave in to it in August 2011. Wow, you held out for quite a while! I was only able to resist for about a week. The holiday episode was corny as heck, and confusing regarding the history of Equestria, but still pretty nice. I'll have to agree with you there. Especially after two incredible episodes like Sweet and Elite and Secret of My Excess. I think it would have been a bit better had the pageant gone into the history of alicorns. Another problem I saw with the episode was that the main characters didn't really have much of a conflict - it was all 'in character' during the play. That made the plot seem a bit more 'hollow' to me. Oh well, at least we got an Equestrian National Anthem, plenty of Derpy, and Queen Rarity! Nice sigfig-ponies by the way, guys! I was worried I was the only one who did that. Truth be told, I actually only made one because you and Aanchir did. All aboard the pony sig-fig bandwagon! Quote

And I wouldn't count Queen Rarity as a good thing; it kinda showed her as a shallow diva character again after all the character development she has had, but that's excusable because it was all just roleplay as you said. Truth be told, I actually only made one because you and Aanchir did. All aboard the pony sig-fig bandwagon! Now let's see who is brony enough to follow Artanis_I in using them as their avatar. Quote

Yeah, I think the main reason why Rarity is best pony is because of all the character development she's had throughout the series. When I first started watching MLP:FiM, I was completely expecting her to be the obligatory shallow throwaway character, and I was very surprised when they avoided doing just that. Still, you have to admit, Queen Rarity was pretty funny. Now let's see who is brony enough to follow Artanis_I in using them as their avatar. Me, obviously! Quote
Batbrick Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 Well, obviously an MLP fan here as well, but this year my main anticipation is Legend of Korra, which is shaping up to possibly be better than the original. And a female non-stereotypical protagonist? Knowing some of the cartoon industry, I wonder how they got away with that in such an unfortunately boys targeting industry? Also very sad BTBATB finished, but twas a marvelous show thatp erfectly juggled superheroics, inspiration, pure silver age wackiness and a whole lot of heart. My favourite animated show ever, Naoki Urusawa's Monster, is one I will never not mention. It is my favourite text, though very dark (in a thoughtful way, not needlessly dark like so much other things), so many might be put off by its themes and pacing. Batbrick Away! Quote
toatali Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 Oh cool, never seen this before! My favourite cartoon is probably futurama, as I don't really watch any other cartoons. As for anime: SOUL EATER FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST and HARUHI SUZUMIYA Sent from my Wii Quote
Scorpiox Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 Not really a cartoon, but I now announce that I love The Muppets, along with K-nut. As you can probably see by my new avatar. "Mee-meme-me-me-mee" Aparrently there is a new Muppets film coming soon! Quote

Perry the Platypus Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 (edited) I love this show. It is the best cartoon known to man. If you are a fan of Beavis an butthead, feel free to share your thoughts and discussions on the brand new season here. EDIT: The title got mixed up. Could a moderator please change it? I have seen it, and it is very funny. That being said, simply posting "I love this show" seemed like spam. Had you posted something like: "I love this show. Are there any other fans out there?" I would not have said anything about it. Edited January 6, 2012 by Legoman273 Quote

Peppermint_M Posted January 6, 2012 Author Posted January 6, 2012 Well, found a few more cartoons recently, waiting for some of them to air and others I have watched through. The TRON series looks really cool. Green Lantern TAS was ok, not the premise I would have chosen but I am sure they have a reason for what happened plot wise As for anime, been watching Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood, a much better adaptation of the manga. sok117 Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 Although I'm not a fan of the show, I find it funny that you say Beavis and Butthead is the greatest cartoon known to man when your user is dedicated to a character from Phineas and Ferb. Quote

Perry the Platypus Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 Time for Phineas and Ferb talk! I just saw the new episode "Tri-Stone Area." It was kinda stupid, but very amusing. Quote
just2good Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 Back to MLP talk, the newest episode was quite boring in my opinion. The only interesting part was the ending. Quote
Oky Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 Yeah, it wasn't the best ep, but the ending saved it I think. Oh, and welcome to the herd, Batbrick! Quote

I enjoyed it quite a bit actually, it was nice to get some more Apple family. Although I have to agree with you that the ending was definitely the best part. The whole Ponyville backstory definitely made up for the lack of significant history in Hearth's Warming Eve. Oh, and welcome to the herd, Batbrick! Yes, welcome to the herd, Batbrick! Quote
