Posted July 22, 200915 yr Check out these pictures from jmenomeno's flickr gallery: Ostrich Camel And those arab guys look pretty good too. Almost as good as an Arabian Nights theme... Lots of nice stuff to be seen in the photostream. Oh, and there's also some toy story pictures too... Steve
July 22, 200915 yr Brilliant! I've been anticipating pics of these sets and they far exceed my expectations! Thanks Steve! I don't see an Indy line in 2010 competing with this - too similar. EDIT: Toy Story does little for me. Buzz looks like a 4+ fig, but I was never into that license anyway.
July 22, 200915 yr Author I don't see an Indy line in 2010 competing with this - too similar. I don't know. That white head wrap just screams maproom Indy to me... Thanks Steve! Actually you should thank Caylin from C-C. She posted them there. I'm just spreading the news... Steve
July 23, 200915 yr Well of Souls Indy? Really, that one white head wrap looks JUST like Indy's Well of Souls head wrap!
July 23, 200915 yr The ostrich and camel are great but the minifigs are amazing. The new hair pieces of I can't wait for prince of persia, its just annoying there in flesh colour and not yellow. Edited July 23, 200915 yr by keetong
July 23, 200915 yr That white head wrap just screams maproom Indy to me... That is exactly what I thought, as soon as I saw it. The ostrich and camel are great but the minifigs are amazing. The new hair pieces of I can't wait for prince of persia, its just annoying there in flesh colour and not yellow. I'm glad it is in flesh. I need a lot more of a variety of flesh heads. July 23, 200915 yr Those PoP figs have good parts for Indy but it might replace Indy?! Seriously? It is way to much like Indy. I'll pass on Toy Story. I hate those figs. No regular heads except those cool soilders!
July 23, 200915 yr I'm happy to be the dissenting voice. I love the Buzz fig and his vehicle looks fantastic with all that pearl gold (I'm confident someone will correct me quickly if I got the colour wrong). Also it's great to get some more system scale animals like the camel and ostrich. I see those toy soldiers being in high demand for those craving a military theme from lego.
July 23, 200915 yr Really, that one white head wrap looks JUST like Indy's Well of Souls head wrap! Seriously. That looks JUST like his headwrap. I think that may be a set.
July 23, 200915 yr Seriously. That looks JUST like his headwrap. Probably because it is a common Arabian garb? -Omi
July 23, 200915 yr The Prince of Persia figs do look awesome, eh? A nice variety of flesh faces and fan-tas-tic costumes. Why some are declaring Indy dead though, is beyond me. Surely we'd have heard official news by now if that was the case. Space and Star Wars have coexisted for 10 years, why not Indy and Persia? More to the point: Persia seems like a one-off à la Speed Racer to me. Big mistake to kill a long-running licence in favour of a one-off. Right? I'd say Indy fans needn't worry. And then there's the glorious ostriche and camel! Woohoo! Betting has already begun they'll be all the rage in summer 2010 MOCs. Clever how the ostriche has 2x2 studs on its back. Let the ostriche races begin, hehehe. Also lovely for a LEGO zoo, as someone pointed out in a Flickr comment. I remember playing the original game on an ancient computer... And now there's a fabulous LEGO line made out of the movie. Cool!
July 23, 200915 yr Thank you very much for the links to these pics, Athos! The camel and the ostrich look absolutely amazing, totally realistic and that ! I really, really hope that TLG will release a zoo theme in the City line next year where these two animals will be included! That would be awesome! The camel and the ostrich are no fictional animals - so they very supposably are even not licensed and TLG can use them for every other theme, too, don't you think?! Indeed. they used the indy equipment ('cept for the whip) , tanned it, and used it in city and farm. Mediaprobe Is te camel two studs wide? If it is... Mediaprobe
July 23, 200915 yr Wow, I just noticed the fleshie arms on a few of the POP minifigures. And what's up with the figure in desaturated blue? The camel should have 2x1 studs in the middle, where I guess a saddle would (or not) go. As for the 2x2 studs on the ostrich, they made me think of chocobos initially. They'd just need to be dipped in yellow. Hopefully though, the final version will be able to move their necks or something.
July 23, 200915 yr Oh, and there's also some toy story pictures too... Loving the camel and ostrich. As I've stated before, this line is simply heaven for me, since I'm going to be creating Ra's Al Ghul's desert army and fortress. The camel is important because it is how they travel. As for the Ostrich? Going straight to the Penguin! To the Brickmobile!
July 23, 200915 yr I'm not too thrilled with the eyes they've put on them. Same with the Star Wars tauntaun. I prefer the old style they've done on horses, dewbacks, and the like.
July 24, 200915 yr Here's hoping the Ostrich is in a cheap set. I want several. Never one for the games though, so could someone inform me what the white flappy thing is on the brown minifigs head?
July 24, 200915 yr Never one for the games though, so could someone inform me what the white flappy thing is on the brown minifigs head? An arabian helmet with white feathers? -Omi
July 24, 200915 yr Can anyone say Ostrich farm The new animals are neat, and hopefully in a cheap set. I'm going to pas on Toy Story, but not without getting a couple Toy Soldiers.
July 24, 200915 yr I'm not too thrilled with the eyes they've put on them. Same with the Star Wars tauntaun. I prefer the old style they've done on horses, dewbacks, and the like. Why are people so bothered by the eyes? The horses have printed eyes too! Is it just because they have an additional highlight (tiny white dot) in their eye? Sure, some of the old animals had little holes as eyes, but I never thought that that was a good way to portrait eyes, so I like it much better this way. I agree, though, that the ostrich should have a tilting/movable neck. As I've stated before, this line is simply heaven for me, since I'm going to be creating Ra's Al Ghul's desert army and fortress. The camel is important because it is how they travel. As for the Ostrich? Going straight to the Penguin! Haha! Great! Can't wait to see it! Btw, I'm sorry, but I don't think that two new animal molds deserve their own topic. At least not in the Licensed forum. So, could this please be moved or merged? If not, let's keep the discussion of anything else in the Disney topic. Again, sorry to mini-mod.
July 24, 200915 yr Fantastic. Simply amazing and that's just the minifigures and animals. Great job lego.
July 29, 200915 yr Check out these pictures from jmenomeno's flickr gallery:Ostrich Camel And those arab guys look pretty good too. Almost as good as an Arabian Nights theme... Lots of nice stuff to be seen in the photostream. Oh, and there's also some toy story pictures too... Steve Finally! new animals! it's about time LEGO did that! These specific animals could be very use full as well! Ostrich farms and camel farms for example! Finally Ill be able to create a desert going British platoon for the pirate theme!
July 29, 200915 yr I'm really thrilled about this. The new molds. The headwraps, the ostrich and camels. I can make a proper "Traders from the East" and "Desert Dwellers" faction.
