Anyone have a concept on what shipwreck hideout would have looked like as a ship? it seems a bit small, but Lego's Descripion says it was once the 'Pirate Kings'. any thoughts? :pir_wacko:

I decided to create a sketch of what I believe the ship would have been, It would most proberbly have been a small sloop which was very fast and sea-worthy which the Pirate King used to sail to ports rather than using his giant galleons.

I created this sketch in Powerpoint, I have mastered Autoshapes finally!:

Nice work! The un-natural part of the captains cabin being in the middle may have been caused by longshore drift, along with the funny steering wheel (Below Deck?) I don't know why lego put it in thatparticular spot...

And i dont get how the mast got there still standing!

Oh well this isnt a review.

Mediaprobe you certain pose some interesting questions.

Where abouts can the description "it was once the Pirate Kings" be found?

I haven't been able to get hold of this set yet so I dont' have the box.

Shop@Home.

Years ago, the pirate king’s ship ran aground on a tropical island. Now the wreck has become the pirates’ secret hideout! The soldiers are out to capture the pirates and take back the treasure, but they’ll have to sneak past the lookout and brave the hideout’s hidden traps: a swinging bridge, slashing sword, firing cannon and secret skull-launcher!

I don't suppose by stroke of luck you've seen this set or any of the larger 2009 Pirate sets in stores lately?

I got Brickbeard’s Bounty and Soldiers’ Fort in Target Glenorchy yesterday and it was still well stocked then. Wonderful sets too. My first full size real LEGO ship... :pir-cry_happy: Acording to me 6253 is a TRU exclusive in Australia.

Ok, I'll lock my tagetting system on to Target!

How much were these sets individually?

Brickbeard’s Bounty $111.99

Soldiers’ Fort $63.99

:jollyroger::pir_bawling: <-My daughter wanted that.

Ah, of course.

Now let's get this thread back on topic.

So Shop@Home says:

"Years ago, the pirate king’s ship ran aground on a tropical island. Now the wreck has become the pirates’ secret hideout! The soldiers are out to capture the pirates and take back the treasure, but they’ll have to sneak past the lookout and brave the hideout’s hidden traps: a swinging bridge, slashing sword, firing cannon and secret skull-launcher!"

What do we all make of this? Once upon a time there was a pirate king? Hmmmmmm...

Remember that Target has the 10% sale of toy items over $50. I found that Soldier's Fort at $49.99 "technically" didn't apply, but I just argued until he gave it to me. Added to the gift cards I had left from the wedding and....

Soldier's Fort for $17 dollars!

YAY! It's my second one too. I havent been using it as a modual (as it should be), but rather, using its buildings "off dock" in my port.

Where abouts in the world are you though? Targets in my area might not have the same toy sale as in the Targets in your area, but it might be worth looking into.

The sale started off of Target.com, so I assume ALL Targets?

Target has regional websites too, so if I look at Target.com.au it should tell me what's happening locally. And whadda ya know, there's a Mega Toy Sale beginning 23rd of July. If I wasn't on dialup I'd have already looked at the website.

But in the mean time I'll attempt to get this thread back on topic once more. YEEEEEEEHAAAAAA!

Well, Aqua Raiders also has a shipwreck in a set, which has the skeleton of a king in it. It is possible that with erosion e.t.c, the island that Shipwreck HIdeout is on becomes submerged, and the wreck falls apart a bit more...

Aqua-Raiders-Shipwreck-lego.jpg

This discussion could probably be opened up further, with the addition of 6281 Pirate's Perilous Pitfall -

6281-1.jpg

and 6296 Shipwreck Island -

6296-1.jpg

They seem rather similar in type... perhaps neighbouring islands where a fleet of small ships ran aground?

What do we all make of this? Once upon a time there was a pirate king? Hmmmmmm...

Now, theoretically that should be either Cap'n SlyOwl, Benk or Mister oo7... :pir-laugh:

I don't really like these 'late' Pirate I ('Armada') sets. You've done some nice drawings of what these wrecks may have looked like (there's one left for you to do :pir-tongue: ). Furthermore, I don't think Lego has thought this 'Pirate King' through (someone probably just thought it looks cool in the set description), but then again the skeleton in the set might be captain Redbeard's (although the skeleton's hat doesn't have the pirate emblem RB used to have).

BTW: I'm quoted in someone's signature !!! :pir-sweet: (mediaprobe's)
