Posted July 25, 200915 yr Let's take a stroll along the river... I built this mainly to try out the water idea, which I'll probably use in much larger scale in a future MOC. Flickr page. Thanks!
July 25, 200915 yr Looking brilliant, Erds I love the choppy geometry of these wavefronts. It adds a stylised, almost scutptural quality, almost like an ancient mosaic in some ways - playing with simple forms and repetition. Fabulous for Venetian MOCs and so on. Good work!
July 26, 200915 yr As i said on your flickr the water really is clever. you seem to own a lot of those slope pieces , I only have about two.
July 26, 200915 yr The couple holding hands is funny. I don't know what that guy is laughing at though...
July 26, 200915 yr Author As i said on your flickr the water really is clever. you seem to own a lot of those slope pieces , I only have about two. I recently ordered another 600 or so for a new project. The couple holding hands is funny. I don't know what that guy is laughing at though... He's just excited about playing soccer with his buddy.
July 26, 200915 yr The Trashcats Trashcans are also genious. Though what I really think this MOC is about is not following road rules!! The Scooter is on the foot path!
July 26, 200915 yr Nice work! Love the living atmosphere in the scene and the idea for the water is brilliant
July 26, 200915 yr Great diorama, Erdbeereis The use of pieces and techniques is very interesting and I'm sure I'll use this MOC of yours as a source of inspiration. I particoularly like the use of roof pieces for the waves; very clever LuxorV
July 26, 200915 yr You did a GREATTTT job on this, the best part is clearly the water. If its not to private, could you tell me how much your order cost you. I might just buy a big pile of those bricks and a large base-plate, then trie to work out a fishing scene. I really need to improve my MOCing skills

I really need to improve my MOCing skills Actually, I asked my friend in Austria to get a Pick A Brick cup of them from the LEGO Store Munich. On Bricklink I found that the amount I needed (about 700) would cost around $65. So I'm glad my friend came through for me.
July 26, 200915 yr Who ever left that flickr comment saying "I think you mean lysdestic" is not funny! An amazing job on the whole MOC! I love the stone in the background and the two-tire trash can! The arches are spectacular as well!
July 26, 200915 yr wow this looks good i like the fact that its two tiered also do i see some bird poop? for gondor
July 26, 200915 yr Author wow this looks good i like the fact that its two tiered also do i see some bird poop?for gondor Yep, it's some gigantic bird poop. There's nothing smaller than a round 1 x 1 plate unfortunately.
July 26, 200915 yr A lovely scene. I think the water works very well. I like all the minifigs and the aesthetics of the quay - the chains and detail on the arches. The tyres for bins do look good.
July 26, 200915 yr Very nice! I really like the water design! Do you mind if I steal borrow those thrash can / arch designs? Actually, I asked my friend in Austria to get a Pick A Brick cup of them from the LEGO Store Munich. On Bricklink I found that the amount I needed (about 700) would cost around $65. So I'm glad my friend came through for me. Can you ask him to get a cup for me too? Edited July 26, 200915 yr by Dennimator
July 27, 200915 yr Greetings! I love the water idea! It looks a lot more realistic and with a little wooden boat and a fisherman you would be in business!
July 27, 200915 yr Great work on this scene. I LOVE the 'choppy water' effect you put together with the roof slopes. I am definitely going to have to look into using that at some point. -Dave ToT-LUG
July 27, 200915 yr Great stuff Erdbeereis! I actually saw this the minute you uploaded it to Flickr, but I only just found the thread. The watr technique is really inventive, and as I always do in MOCs, I love the bird. You are certainly getting to be a better MOCer by the day, and before we know it, you'll be EB's best!
July 27, 200915 yr Author Thank so much everyone! Dennimator, feel free to use the arch idea, I've seen many other people besides me use that anyway.
July 27, 200915 yr I love this MOC of yours, and it appears to be ready for some future expansion. The river flow sure looks great with those uneven choppy wave plus the nice grey walls and pavement. Excellet piece of work.
July 27, 200915 yr Very interesting little build, love some of the details on it. The water effect is certainly very nice, though I do wonder if it might be improved by making it a little less uniform. Did you already try that?

The water effect is certainly very nice, though I do wonder if it might be improved by making it a little less uniform. Did you already try that? Thanks! I've already decided to make it less uniform for my larger MOC that I have planned. This was sort of just a test to see how the idea would go over, and if anyone had any suggestions.
July 28, 200915 yr Great job, I love the choppy water look. It would look great around a lighthouse, or in the wake of a boat. The riverwalk is great too, I thought it was quite charming before I even noticed the water technique.
