Hello EB, been a long time since I've posted creations, since I'm currently working on my mega project; Wayne Manor. However, I've recently got back into my favourite childhood shows, one of them being Doctor Who. I watched all of the renewed series recently as well as some classics, and I just knew I had to make some characters. So here we go:

For those who aren't familiar with Doctor Who, the Daleks are an evil (Or are they? Since Extermination is all they know) race of aliens that originate from the planet of Skaro. There is a long backstory, but they were essentially created by an alien called Davros. They believe they are the superior race and therefore all other races should be, well, exterminated.

This is what the new series Dalek looks like, though the older ones were generally a more blacky-grey colour scheme:

Prototype Dalek:

dalekprototype3.jpg

This was my first attempt at a Dalek, inspired by Casewindu's neat creation. It is about the right height, but I wasn't happy with it, it seemed to bulky and I wanted to capture the front slope better. As fans can tell, my Doctor is the tenth, though I plan on making the others. I haven't got a brown coat torso so I'm using his blue undercoat.

My new Dalek compared with my old:

dalekprototype4.jpg

As you can see, I used 3 studded long sloping pieces to illustrate the shape of the Dalek. I'm much happy with the head now too, since it has the rivets.

Now I added lights to my Daleks, using bluetack which I felt worked really well:

To those who have watched the new series, I bring you...Dalek Sec:

daleksec3.jpg

Supreme Dalek:

supremedalek2.jpg

Davros, creator of the Daleks:

And the Dalek Empire:

dalekempire1.jpg

Now, the classic Cybermen:

I hope you enjoyed it guys! Comments appreciated and feel free to post your own Daleks! I haven't finished yet though, be on the constant watch for more of the Dalek Empire, and other Doctor enemies.

YOU WILL OBEY!!! OBEEEEY!!!!

Love it! Your new version is definitely awesome. If only we had more parts for working on such a micro scale...

Do you think you'll do cybermen next?

Very nice! I love your Ten - nice solution for the torso, and yellow figs are always good! Your Daleks are really good too - I think the head could use a bit more detail, though. Hope you tackle an Emperor!

THanks mate. Cybermen are definitely on the list. I've already pretty much done them infact, I just have to do the face, since there isn't really an official one that does it justice.

Thanks, I'm actually pretty happy with the head apart from a lack of lights. I though about blue tacking some trans 1x1 rounded pieces on but decided against it, but still might try it.

And I'll be sure to do the Emperor at some point. I'm doing Supreme Dalek and Davros, as well as almost finished the Cybermen. The Master (Probably Jacobi, since I think he's the only one who is near Deldago) is in the works as well.

Thanks for the comment on the Doctor's suit too. He switched to a more plain blue undercoat in the fourth series but earlier you can occasionally see that it looks a lot like the torso I've chosen which makes me rather happy.

"Exterminate!" These are awesome, very nice. You captured the essence of the Dialeks. Makes me want to watch Dr. Who, the older ones that is.

Wahey! Very nice! Every time I see a new Dalek MOC, it seems the designs get better and better! :pir-grin:

As for the Doctor; not bad at all! Keep it up sir!

Thanks, I really appreciate it, especially since mine is the most recent, and therefore...

Thanks. I love the older Doctor Who ep, but apart from a few hiccups (The Master) I'd definitely say give the new series a chance, even if the Doctors are too young.

at this current moment nothing I can say is enough to express my full liek of this MoC...

Say, is the Doctor holding a sonic screwdriver?

Appreciated, and yes, that's his screwdriver. Funnily enough, I think the screwdriver is the worst thing to happen to the new Who, since it makes the plots so contrived and gets new powers as the plot demands.

Nice, I like it. Unmistakable as a Dalek - it gives a fairly good impression. The old one wasn't bad either despite the blockiness.

Thanks brickzone, I'm glad it's pretty unmistakable, which I think will be even better now that I unveil the Daleks 2.0:

daleks7.jpg

I followed Hewkii's criticism that the head's weren't detailed enough and decided that they needed the classic "speaking" lights. They are only attached by bluetack yet you can barely tell, so I'm really happy with the final result. EX-TER-MIN-ATE!

daleks8.jpg

I've also fixed up Dalek Sec now so he has a proper "head":

And also, the unveiling of SUPREME DALEK!

I adore Supreme Dalek. He meshes with your prior Dalek design really well and just looks great. Really looking forward to the big D[avros]!

Also, I noticed from your comments that you don't really like the Simm Master, and I'm curious as to why?

Thanks hewkii9, always appreciated. Glad you like Supreme Dalek, and also the addition of lights to the Daleks too. Rest assured Davros is on his way! Mind you, don't get too excited, I don't think a fully satisfactory head for Davros has been released yet.

As for Simm's Master, I had no problem at all with the way Simm played it, he's an excellent actor. Of course, a problem was he followed Derek Jacobi who in my opinion was nearly on a par with Deldago for the short screentime he got. I blame Russel T Davies and his lacklustre writing, trying to forge parallels with the Doctor - despite the fact there are plenty enough already - by making him dance to Voodoo Child and I Can't Decide, which while both hilarious and entertaining, does not fit at all in with any of the previous Master's incarnations. Oh, and that Teletubbies scene was just rubbish. Also, did RTD really need to make the Doctor/Master confrontations - something that should be epic - really slashy and a badly written excuse to dispel nihilism?

Sorry for the rant, what did you think?

EXTERMINATE!!!!!

Very Awesome creations, I love the show Doctor Who!!!

Thanks mate, comment appreciated!

So on the plate still to go: Davros, Cybermen, The Master, Emperor Dalek and hopefully a good Doctor!

This looks great. Good job

Thanks :classic:

Any chance we might see some Ood? It wouls be a VERY custom head, of course, but cool nonetheless.

Probably not sorry, the best head for the Ood would be Jabba's assistant and I don't have it. However, I do bring you Davros - Creator of the Daleks!

Wow! These are nice Daleks and Davros is just, to quote Chris E, Fantastic! I have to disagree with you about an ood head. I would have to say kranxx from SPIII would work prettty well. But what head is Davros? I would guess Slizer. And I adore your Supreme Dalek. Could you do some daleks in their modern color scheme?

Thanks a heap DoctorDude234, comment appreciated! I'm actually in agreement with you now on an Ood head, but I don't think Kranxx will work. I think a Geonosian head will work perfectly though; it has a long mouth which can be painted red to be the tentacles, and the rest is perfect, just needs a bit of tan.

As for Davros' head, I honestly have no idea, I might have to consult KDog, I think he's Insectoid. Maybe. Unfortunately I can't do Daleks in their modern colour scheme because they are fairly bronzey, and even using tan and brown I don't have the right pieces.

For anyone who missed, he's what we're up to - Daleks, Dalek Sec (black one), Supreme Dalek (red) and Davros, their creator:

A better look a Davros:

Yep, modern Daleks are nigh impossible, colourscheme-wise. As for your creations so far - wow! Cheating a bit with the 'headlights' there, from a purist point of view, but still... gorgeous design. Probably the best minifig sized Dalek design there is.

Davros as you made him has an Insectoid head indeed. Good idea. When I thought of making him, I kept thinking of the new Emperor Palpatine face with something holding a blue round stud on top. One day perhaps. Your Dalek base for Davros is, again, the best there is I think.

As for the Ood question... I tried the Bib Fortuna face. Wound up looking like this.

Welcome to the League of Eurobricks Whovians. (Me, Hewkii, Doctor Sinister and if memory serves Brainbox have taken shots at Lego Daleks and Doctors too.)

Thanks a heap Mr Spielbrick, I was hoping you would make a comment. I'm honestly really happy with my cute little Daleks, even if I never quite found a way to give them the two separate arm designs (and I spent hours trying!)

I agree I did sort of "cheat" from a purist point of view. I'm not quite a purist, but will only cross that line if there is no other way of doing it. I'm happy I did do it with the lights though, as it gives a much better Dalek feel.

Thanks for the link, I thought it was Insectoid. Yeah, I put a trans blue stud in his head and it works, but looks a bit wierd also. The base was one of the harder things I've had to build, and I was worried that it would stand out too much among the other Daleks since it has two columns of studs, but I was happy to see it fit right in.

As for the Ood question... I tried the Bib Fortuna face. Wound up looking like this.

That's a really good Ood design! I love it! Unfortunately I don't have that fig, I was thinking of using a Geonosian hed, but then I'd have to paint it.

Great stuff, I wish Brainbox still came here. I'll be sure to comment on your figs when you update your topic next!

"Sorry to double post but - AAaaaargh!"

THIS IS THE AGE OF STEEL! YOU WILL BECOME LIKE US: CYBERMEN.

cybermen1.jpg

I'm really happy with my Cybermen. I was reluctant to paint their faces but overall I'm glad how they turned out. Mr Spielbrick can tell you these Cybermen are more based on the classic series, with wider "mouths" and generally less streamlined. I'd like to think these are roughly the same model that went up against Ace:

cybermen2.jpg

Anyone who's watched the new series and experienced Russel T Davies' deux ex machina writing will know about this one:

"Thanks Russel for cheap plot contrivances!"

cybermen4.jpg

And Doomsday style;

"Species has identified itself as the Daleks"

"Outline resembles INFERIOR design known as CYBERMEN!"

"Delete"

"EXTERMINATE!"

cybermen5.jpg

I really think the purple flame pieces work for the Cybermen's guns:

Hope you like, more comments appreciated! :classic:

Batbrick, I've seen lots of attempts at Lego Daleks, but I think you've finally nailed it. And your Cybermen are awesome designs!

The only disappointing things about the Dalek vs. Cybermen battle was that the Cybermen were so outmatched. But otherwise, it was a battle fans had been waiting for decades to see.

Daleks are really hard to create in Lego aren't they, but I think your design is the most accurate of the ones i've seen.

I like Davros, not sure about the choice of head i would personally have used palpatine's (emperor) head

I was actually rather rooting for Daleks, since I absolutely hate the cybermen. That one line: "You are superior to us in one way- you are better at dying" is the best.

Daleks vs Cybermen was perhaps the greatest battle I've seen on TV.

Really? For me it was thoroughly disappointing. The new parallel universe Cybermen is the worst version I've seen, they are pretty much inferior humanoid versions of the Daleks, except without any emotions. The older Cybermen would still be beaten by the Daleks, but atleast could hold their own, the fight was so one sided it was a waste.

Thanks KDog, appreciated. I'm really happy with the responses I'm getting about the Dalesk (and hopefully the Cybermen), I think I've stumbled across a great design here. Again thanks goes to Casewindu for main inspiration, though I also took a bit of reference from Dr Sinister.

Thanks simonjedi. I would agree about using Palpatine's head, but I only have the yellow version. If it were the newer pale version it would've been my first choice.
