about 3 minutes

about 3 minutes

I never thought the movie would represent them so much robotically. I mean, really.

BTW... I don't like how everytime Mata Nui's going to reference to his past, something happens, or make him shut up >_>

They just dont want to confuse new fans too much...

If they looked like as they should be in the story, they wouldn't look anything like the sets. More like a twisted version of us.

"should" is completely subjective. That whole organic thing is little more then a throw-away fact created for a small sect of fans that has no real bearing on the toyline at all.

Screw all this stupid whining about little tiny canon problems. Nobody -cares-.

By Jove, he's got it!

Truth. I mean, it hasn't been mentioned at all, in comics or book, that Glatorian are organic. It's just that fans stop asking about that.

Okay, I've watched the intro of the movie again, and I can't for the life of me figure out why people are claiming that it is horrible. I don't see how it supposedly ruined Robot Mata Nui - in fact, I think the intro did reasonably good justice to the incarnation of the Great Spirit that we first saw in the ghost movie. Sure, the animation's a little too fluid, but I think the lighting is fine, and the sweeping shots are really quite cool IMO. Oh, and I don't mind the music either.

Yes, I'm not shaking easily from my opinion that this movie is far better than the first three in almost every way.

Thank you for highlighting the very important fact that so many people here keep forgetting, Innerayg. Seriously guys, did you really expect the characters in the movie to look organic in the least? This movie is being made for kids, and the kids aren't going to care about miniscule details that Greg throws out on BZP. To them, the Glatorian are just as robotic as the Toa, since they look so similar in set form, and this means that the movie has to tailor the characters towards how they understand bionicle. I bet that if the Glatorian were made to look like "twisted humans" in The Legend Reborn, most kids would be freaked out and wonder what the heck they were watching. There's no point in trying to please the 0.01 percent of fans who follow the storyline religiously and care about details like this, so it's understandable why we are seeing things like rotating pins and a Skopio that looks and functions exactly the same as the vehicle that was based off of it. Face it guys: we're not the center of attention here. :hmpf:

So I just saw the intro in English thanks to an Australian connection. (And before you ask, yes I will buy the movie when it comes out in the US. I just realy wanna watch it now.)

I've gotta say, the intro in English is actualy pretty good. I really like the music so far, it's kind of like MoL but genericized. Every moment with robot Mata Nui still angers me, though.

Metus' voice is awesome, but his overall voice and tone just scream, "Traitor!"

Put that in spoilers just in case.

And, yes, I'm gonna' buy the movie. I'll just have already seen it once before.

Wow, the movie has only been out for a few days, and DVDRip downloads are all over the place!

I've seen the intro. Other than the fact that it's mostly non-canon, it's pretty good.

EDIT: A video hosting site (not Youtube) had the movie, and guess what? It was labeled with Mature content. I was like, "WTF!?!"

My review (no spoilers)

The good:

It did the action well, characterization was good, pace was alright, and no terrible old-style designs.

The bad:

Bad parts were terrible space effects and the water, reused character models, and some really awkward dialogue.

Character voices:

Mata Nui: Excellent

Ackar: Good

Strakk: Fitting

Kiina: WOOOOOOO

Gresh: He's like cheetor.

Tuma: Lacked a lot of gravitas.

Berix: Great!

Metus: Oh god, Metus...I could write a book on it.

Tarix and Vastus: They're British! Oh so British!

Bone Hunters and Skrall: Orcs.

In more detail:

This was a good movie. There are some absolutely great scenes in this, and it manages to turn the boring desert into an interesting place. The main thing that annoyed was the character model use, where the identical Agori are cheering and there were a group of identical Glatorian near the end, And a really awkward, odd use of Malum's character model.

Among other things were the fighting scenes. This movie manages to have more action then most of what has come before. And that's good.

The best part of this movie though, for me, was Mata Nui himself. He takes no funny stuff from anyone, and his laughter is so scary. Seriously, the dude is downright threatening.

Stuff to look out for:

The Shields on Ackar's wall feature some interesting and familiar ones, check out the Skrall near the end to see another character model reused, And take a good look at Berix's tool when he gets them out underground.

The Shields on Ackar's wall feature some interesting and familiar ones

Including the saw blade piece that wasn't actually a shield before.

I really enjoyed the movie. The wost things about it were the lame and/o just plain not good voices. But those were only brief. I think they did the characterization on most characters really well.

The ending was also left incredibly open, and pretty much kills that 2010 character list.

This movie's made me pumped for 2010, and it makes me want to buy the sets! It's effective on every level!

(I also LOVE the style and animation. It reminds me of BIONICLE Heroes, and I loved BIONICLE Heroes' style~)

Yeah, I noticed that. I thought that was awesome to see the being BIONICLE fans have been clamoring for murdering things. It was awesome.

Also, some of the inscriptions in the cave are interesting, and at least one is lulzy.

I didn't pay attention to them, example?

One says "LEGO". But the rest are pretty boring, actually. :/
