I liked the movie a lot. And I liked the little godzilla roar during the Skopio battle. My only problems were that the story seemed a little rushed- like too much had to be crammed into so little time. Oh, well.

I liked the Metus snake.

I've see the movie, and it was great. Not fantastic, not excellent, not just good and not average. Just great. Blew the firstthree out of the water, certainly, but I've got three major problems with it, and I was wondering if I was the only one?

1. The music was okay, but it was never good or great. Important moments ddn't have very fitting or epic tracks. Sure, LomN wasn't the greatest, but the music at times was fantstic, same with MoL. Vakama's last vision? Epic music, man. Takua's transformation? Sounded great. But TLR doesn't really have anything that stood out, which dissapointed me a bit. I would have loved a great epic track during Mata Nui vs Tuma.

2. Is it me, or are the Skrall all a bunch of wimps in this one? The Bone Hunters and the traitor are the real menace, while the Skrall seem to be puppets of the traitor, not the fearsome tribe they were in the beginning of 2009. And Tuma, what's up with him? He has about4 minutes of screen time, and he spouts bad lines all the way. This is the Skrall leader that made plans to conquer Bara Magna, the one who ordered the destruction of Atero? Sorry, but no. He was lame. =/

3. What exactly was the "bigger secret" or the "shocking revelation"? I didn't see or discover anything shocking or big secret. Not even in the secret lab.

But aside from those three points, it was a great movie. Characters, except Tuma, were great. Mata Nui was everything I had hoped he would be and the Traitor was a fantastic villain. Berix served as great comic relief and I often found myself chuckling at the moments he and Kiina shared. Ackar did what he had to do. But Click takes the cake. He was, in the end, a great addition to the movie and it wouldn't have been the same without him. Fighting was mostly great, though I found there was no suspense because of the average musical score. Still, a step up from the preious three, for sure! And everything concerning the secret lab of the great beings was great. One of the best scenes of the movie, IMHO. It really will give you the feeling of mystery and secrets.

And as others said, this movie totally paves the way for 2010, and I hope 2010 does a 2003, with 2 canister lines of villains so that we can keep the current cast of good guys.

I agree with the Skrall part.

They just looked like bunch of screeching debilitated Vorox...and Tuma simply looked like he was there to look brute and übber and seemed like a dumb giant in the end.

On the other hand I really enjoyed Click, those little moments where he nods or is part of a debate are really cute.

I also think they did a really good job on Berix, I really enjoyed his character. I was also surprised how many action scenes are in the movie, it´s hard to get bored with all the greatly animated battles and moves. The story and characters are well written and I don´t believe I found any story flaws (except for AM having other land on it and not beiing able to se MN robot from space, since he is in the space from his waist up and of course Ignika´s trajectory is somehow messed up in the beginning).

The animation, like I said is excellent (except for one Skrall in the end running but not moving), rusted and dirty textures make the characters look more real, which is a good thing and the voice acting was great and the voices themselves fit their characters very well.

I really enjoyed the movie, they´ve done a superb job.

Can´t wait to buy the DVD.

I have watched the movie a second time now, with headphones on an my second impression is even better than the first. I enjoyed the movie more now than the first time I watched it. The music sounded better now, probably thanks to the headphones. Still, I wished Mata Nui vs Tuma had a slightly better soundtrack... My three complaints remain, minus the first perhaps, but still it was a damn epic movie.

My review (hidden for minor-moderate spoilers);

Lets start with the characters/voices:

Mata Nui:Michael Dorn did a great job with him and the character himself lived up to my expactations.

Ackar:Another good performance and probably my second favourite in the movie.

Kiina:I orgininally disliked the voice but after seeing the movie she is actually pretty funny especially in all the conversations with-

Berix:Berix is just amazing in this movie a brilliant comic relief but is a bit cliche at times the interactions between him and Kinna are fun and I get the feeling due to a scene or two at the end we'll have some Kiina/Berix shippers *shudders*.

Metus:I've heard a lot of disdain for his voice due to certain reasons and I understand them but I still liked his voice and it suited him in the long run.

Gresh:He was good but not the best he could have been improved but he's good as he is.

Vastus/Tarix:Neither got enough screentime but the lines they had were good though left me wanting more.

Strakk:For a 5-minute cameo appearance he was good but I would have liked to have them decide his fate like in the most recent comic.

Skrall:No actual voiceover aside from animal-like sounds and they never felt like a threat.

Tuma:He kind of lets the rest down but could have been better if the movie was longer..

Click:I can't see the movie without him he feels like such an integral part of it which he is of course.

Raanu:Not quite what voice I had in mind.

Liked:

All the fights were excellent the final battle between Mata Nui&Tuma was kinda anti-climactic and coud've been made longer so it seemed more epic.

Kiina does a happy dance near the beginning which is kinda funny.

Berix's introduction was fun to watch.

Surfing Mata Nui!

The traitor's punishment.

The open ending which looks like it leads us into 2010.

Disliked:

Most of Tuma's lines.

No Gelu or Malum(his design appears but it is not Malum himself) who would have made good additions but I guess we didn't need them much.(I don't care for Stronius much so I'm not complaining about him,his model also appears several times but he wasn't named.)

Mata Nui gives a rather toothy smile at one point which looks awkward.

Overall I had fun with this and is well worth a look it tops the other 3 hands down.

Good luck getting the right track, cuz it's not easy. (And no, I don't have it.)

I didn't pay attention to them, example?

Here they are:

"Mata Nui", "LEGO", "Threshold", "Universal", "Bionicle The Legend Reborn", "Great Being", "Secret Lab". And sometimes these words were mixed.

2. Is it me, or are the Skrall all a bunch of wimps in this one? The Bone Hunters and the traitor are the real menace, while the Skrall seem to be puppets of the traitor, not the fearsome tribe they were in the beginning of 2009. And Tuma, what's up with him? I hope we will find out soon why Skrall warriors were so loyal to Metus (or it had been already revealed somewhere?).

I was confused with Tuma's role in movie too. In first scene he seems to be a real threat, but in end was killed so quickly and easy... I wonder, where did he get that wound?

And for me it was a pity how Tuma looked in his last moments (for example, disbelief in own defeat, etc.). Poor Tuma.

Anyone know where a stream of the movie is available to watch online? Just PM me the link, if you can.

Same here. I did a bit of surfing but I can't find it - just a bunch of suspicious looking sites.

Here's a good one.

Well, I'm actually pleasantly surprised.

Apparently the worst shot in the whole movie was the one of Mata Nui rising. (There's another bad one where it shows all of Skull Mountain and it's nearly textureless, but it's brief, and all the other locations look pretty decent.) The motion capture, though somewhat awkward, isn't as bad as I had previously thought... It looks like the worst instances were for some reason shown in the scenes on BIONICLE.com (ie: Mata Nui's awkward "not too steady on his feet yet" part, his fight with the Vorox, Ackar's flipping, etc.). Also, the texturing and atmospheric stuff was generally okay—not quite as good as the first three, but still pretty nice.

(I'm too lazy to write paragraphs, so I'll do bullet points for the characters.)

Mata Nui: Pretty much great. Michael Dorn was good, as I'd expected. I liked his no-nonsense personality, especially after the immaturity and inferiority complexes the main characters have had in the past movies.

Ackar: Also great. They got him pretty much how I imagined him. (And he sounds like Cat from CatDog.)

Kiina: Not as bad as she seemed at first. Still, she was a bit... Giddy. What with all the whooping.

Berix: A bit overdone at times, but not bad.

Metus: I really enjoyed him. Crowning Moment of Awesome:

"Now throw down your shield and your weapon. (pause) ...That's not a joke.

Gresh: Sounds like a kool kid. Probably the worst character, unfortunately.

Tuma: Not as imposing a voice as I pictured him having, so I'm a bit disappointed by that.

I hope he's not really dead, because that was too easy for Mata Nui.

Skrall: They should've had voices other than growls. They aren't supposed to be Vorox...

Click: Best part of the movie. Click is the new Pewku.

Music was largely boring and there wasn't a lot of variety. Mostly variations on one main theme... Not as good as the first three at all, or even the MNOLG. There was one great part, though, when they first arrive at Tesara. (I felt like dancing in my seat for that one.) It felt like a mixture of the MNOLG and the theme from "Hot Fuzz." I've listened to it about ten times now.

The locations are mostly average, but I did really like Tesara, which is... Vast. If there are living versions of those trees on Bota Magna, it must be crazy over there. (There could be whole cities in individual trees!)

My favorite location in this movie, though, is undoubtedly the Laboratory of the Great Beings. When I heard they had a laboratory I was hoping it wasn't too technological, but this is just awesome. It's a massive ruin that comes off as far more magical than scientific, and it has the same aesthetic that all Great Being-made locations like Kini-Nui or the Codrex seem to share—the round layout, the pointed "pillars..." But the lab also has a bit of a creepy, deserted edge to it that the others don't have.

The story is decent overall, but not too special. The ending had a few really weird parts, though...

First of which is the Giant Purple Malum, which was really a WTF moment before I realized it was made of Scarabax beetles. And even after, it was at the very least a... WTC moment. I mean, why Malum? And how are that many Scarabax beetles there? I could accept it easier if they arrived as a menacing locust horde or as an all-enveloping wave, but a Giant Purple Malum? I wish it hadn't happened because it's the only thing I can picture now when I think of this movie...

Also there's the part where Metus is turned into a snake, but I was still kinda reeling at that point from the GPM. When Mata Nui put him up to the Ignika, though, I wondered what he was going to turn him into... A deformed troll? A hideous pile? Maybe a Scarabax beetle, because he seemed to hate them so much? Oh, a snake? Okay, whatever.

Also, though not too weird compared to those two, they dug out those body parts really fast, huh?

So, overall, I'd say it's about on-par with the previous ones. It has generally superior voices, but worse animation and music. It does have better action, though, and there are a number of very cool parts.

I disagree. TLR kills the other 3 in everything except music. It has wayy better animation.

Got to see the movie early thanks to connections at a video store.

Didn't read any spoilers, went in just knowing what has been in the preview trailers.

W.T.F.

I can't tell if I even like this movie or not. Everything in it is so far out of left field it's ridiculous.

Seriously. None of you will see any of this shit coming. Don't read the spoilers. You have to experience how awkward the *REDACTED* and *REDACTED* are for yourself.

i no rite

I want that song so I can submit it to my school to play at dances and pep rallies and stuff.

I managed to refrain from highlighting anything until I had watched it. And good thing I watched it when I did; I would have been preeeeetty pissed if I had found out some of the stuff from the "HAY I SAW THE MOVIE SO IM GONNA RUIN IT FOR EVERYONE ELSE NOW" nubs on BZP.

If you can find me shots more flat and lifeless than this or this from the first three, I'd be very surprised.

Two shots. Two Shots. I agree those are pretty lame, but other than that, it's pretty good.

Agreed. Together those shots take up, what, 10 seconds of a 75 minute long movie? Edited by Vezon
