Very nice truck. I like the SNOT work on the rear. I have one minor point of criticism: there's very little room between the wheels and the mudguards. I think that mounting the wheels one plate lower would probably make it look better.

Cheers,

If you look at any official lego truck with these fenders, you would always see that the wheels are flush with the fenders.

Great MOC, very recognising.

I really like how you added the steps at the back (the one where the garbagecollectors are standing on)

And I do agree with ralph, one plate higher would give it a bit more robust look, now it has a lowrider style :)

Just give it a try, if you don't like it, don't do it

This is a great MOC. Much better Lego's garbage truck. Maybe you can break the monotone up with some decals? But its no biggie. The monotone doesn't really take much away from a great MOC.

They are flush with the mudguards, but that's not what I meant, as should be clear by the solution that I suggested. I was talking about the vertical space between the top of the tyre and the mudguard. If you want to refer to LEGO sets anyway, check this out:

On the set the wheels are mounted one plate lower / the mudguards are mounted one plate higher such that there is a bigger gap between the top of the tyre and the mudguard, and in my opinion that is look that fits a truck better.

Beautifully designed truck, great color.

For the fenders, it may look better when vertical space is increased, but it may look somehow more off-roadish. with this original setup it looks more like city vehicle, which is good.

That looks amazing, just like a real one with the riged bucket
thanks :classic:
Really great! If I could make one criticism I would say it's a bit mono-coloured..., but as prateek says it's wonderfully close to the real ones
I know, it's only orange and grey, but unfortunately it's like on the real truck. thanks for your comment :classic:

To the point of mudguards. I tried it with 1 plate more space between fenders and wheels, but it didn't look right. I also tried 1/2 plate offset. Maybe I just set the driver's cab one plate higher. I think this lowrider style (as aawsum says) comes from the very low bumper on the front.

@aawsum, Fumoffu, Milan: thanks for your comments :classic:

You might indeed give raising the cab a try. That front bumper is very low. Anyway, it was just a minor comment and would have stayed minor if it hadn't been misunderstood. :classic:

I think for a cement truck that looks good, but for a garbage truck, it looks better with the lower fenders.

I'm afraid that I have to agree that it sits too low. Looks like the suspension has collapsed and it's not going to get over any speed humps which would limit it's use somewhat!

In fact, the dustcarts (garbage trucks) in the Uk tend to sit higher on their suspension than regular trucks as they need to be able to access and manouever in landfill sites and the like. The cabs tend to be low like service trucks at airports but the ground clearance is relatively high.

I think that the one-colour scheme works well - again, the dustcarts in the Uk are predominantly plain yellow or plain white. That said, they have just started painting trees and hills on the side of my local ones...

Nice MOC.

Cheers
