saberwing Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 Hi everyone, I bought Kraken Attackin’ a while ago and got this buddy: Yesterday I bought Cannon Battle And got this guy with the same torso: As you can clearly see the torso from the Kraken Attackin' set is darker green then the other: back (a bit blurry): So does anyone know if this is a misprint or just normal? Saber. Quote
brickzone Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 There was a thread on this some time back - I'm not sure we got a definitive answer but it's presumably just a variation (not exactly misprint). I like the dark green version myself but all my own ones are the light colour. Quote
BlueBard Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 It's perfectly normal Don't know why it happens but there are a lot of sets having this little "problem". Don't be afraid, you're lucky to have two different torsos instead of two clonic ones Quote
saberwing Posted August 8, 2009 Author Posted August 8, 2009 Ok thank you guys. I think the topic can be closed now Quote
Spyder Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 (edited) I bought the same two sets, but both torsos were dark green. Maybe the dark green ink is running low at the Lego factory? I actually like that Lego chose to use dark green instead of regular green, it just shows that much more detail that Lego put into the Pirate minifigures. EDIT: I bought both of my sets right after Christmas, and they were dark green. You bought Kracken Attackin' a while ago, and he was dark green. However, you bought Cannon Battle just yesterday, so maybe it's a new problem that has just come up at the factory, or Lego might have changed the colors for who-knows-what reason. brickzone Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 I don't know which is supposed to be "correct" - I think actually counter-intuitively the lighter one may be - I think it's in some of the official photos. I bought all the Pirate sets just after Christmas and any green/white striped shirt guys were the lighter shade. The same goes for one or two cannon battle sets bought in Spring. Quote

In all the official pictures it does seem that the stripes are all regular green. I have no idea why I got two with dark green stripes. I wonder if Peeron or Bricklink has the torsos listed twice for each color. Quote
Erdbeereis Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 Yeah, this seems to be a pretty common "problem". I have a few of each, I'm not sure what would cause it though.... Quote
Captain Zuloo Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 Perhaps less ink in the printers? I'm bamboozled! Quote
Svelte Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 This issue seems to have occurred in other sets too with different torsos but using green - I noticed that in the City Corner set, the mechanic's torso print was very dark green, whereas the same print in earlier sets leaned towards the lighter shade. People who have the older torso from sets like the Advent calendar etc would probably notice the difference. Quote
Lego_Warlord_8 Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 It's nice to have the two of the same torsos, yet not have them be exactly identical. I think it's just something to do with that particular batch that the torso came from. Nothing serious. ~LW 8~ Quote
Destroydacre Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 All the pirates I own from the new line with that torso are dark green. I'm sure the light green ones are just an error on Lego's part. The quality of the print on the light green torsos just doesn't look as good as the dark green ones, imo. Quote
Edgehead Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 I have found another mistake (so to speak) with this torso design, not so much the design itself but with the references to it in the instructions for the various sets it comes with. They all show this particular torso as having white arms where as it is actuallly supplied with yellow ones. Anyone else notice this or just me.... Quote

Paul cantu Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 I bought a set yesterday and noticed that the torso was light green and I was excited. I like the variation. There have been bunches of errors in the instructions. Quote
Hound Knight Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 There have been bunches of errors in the instructions. Yes, I wonder why this is? Quote
andy0002 Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 i think the one with lighter green is a misprint. they usually match the color of the hat. all mine match. Quote
Rain Jake Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 I think it is just normal, but who knows... Quote
Joe H Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 My Brickbeard's Bounty had the light green torso, but my Cannon Battle and Kraken Attackin' both had the dark green torsos. All bought around the same time, but the BB was from Ebay, and the Cannon Battle/Kraken Attackin' were bought on clearance (yes!) at Walmart. Quote
Svelte Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 I just noticed that my Market Streets had the light-green torso of the overalls print which also has this issue, so I'm pretty sure that the lighter colour was in production for a long time, and that as stocks of the old print dwindled, the new production run was modified (either deliberately or as a result of a printing change) to the newer darker green version. Looks like this is happening all over. Neither really actually looks right; I presume they're supposed to match the green of proper minifig parts (like legs) to give the effect of a fig wearing overalls, but both colours look out of place. With the Pirates torso this is less of a problem. Quote
brickzone Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 Yay! Just picked up a Cannon Battle, and the pirate in it has the dark green stripes! All previous pirate sets I bought (entire theme plus extra Cannon Battles) had the lighter green which doesn't look as good IMO. Incidentally at €5 in Smyth's Toys here in Ireland, Cannon Battle is pretty good value. Plus you can't have too many cannons, infantry and rare brown trousers (very useful for peasants etc. in Castle)! I think this is the third one I've bought, I think I'll buy at least one more (but I'll leave it for a default "impulse buy" in cases where I don't see anything else when browsing toy shelves - good for a cheap and useful "I've bought something" option). Spyder Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 I just saw that all of the pirates in the Chess set with this shirt have dark green stripes. I still don't know why some of the other sets have light green stripes. Quote
Big Cam Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 Perhaps less ink in the printers? I'm bamboozled! Seems like the obvious answer. Quote
Destroydacre Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 It looks like mini figs aren't the only things with printing issues. I purchased 2 Soldier's Forts and the brick stickers on the DSS are different colors on each. The first one I purchased has red looking bricks, but the second one looks almost brown/orange, like the printer started running out of ink, it actually looks pretty bad. Anyone else experience different sticker colors? I'll try to get a picture posted tomorrow. Quote

So it seems this obvious error is widespread. I'd ask for a replacement part. Quote
