I have read an article about this set. It was part of a theme that lego were going to release called the Napoleonic theme, but lego decided never to release it because it was to similar to Pirates, yet they could have released anyway as a pirate set. :pir-classic:

I mean look at the Background first, It is painted on, As they would do in a Glass case

Actually, that's how all the sets in the period had their backgrounds as: painted. For example:

the deep-linked picture in this thread appears to be made of several idea sets, the castle, the smaller fort, and the houses and mabey some extra troops thrown in for luck.

i can see TLC makeing those sorts of sets.

It looks like a french town or village

Although it does have Imperial soldier figs I don't get the port city feel from it

Nothing pirate related in there it looks like besides the soldiers

I would love for LEGO to do something like this today with the modern pirates :pir-classic:

The closest set to it would be the Imperial Trading Post
