Captain Blackmoor Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 I'm totally in love with that last picture! How awesome. YnyklY is right about the bow, one of the hardest parts of the ship thanks to it's curved shapes. The ship has a nice coloursheme and some great techniques in it. I'd love to see some of them appearing in the ship building index! Great job! Quote
WastedGrunt36 Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 This is beautiful, of all the ships I've seen, this is the best looking! It may not be the mightiest or strongest, but it is very well built, and I love the cabin. Quote
Captain Zuloo Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 That image is fantastic! I have updated the frontpage article accordingly. Oh, and nice ship by the way. Quote
martinsuper Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 One small piece of advice. Starch your sails and they will be more "LEGO like". -Super Quote
Lego_Warlord_8 Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 By the gods of the sea, what a Fantastic ship! The sails are exceptional. I really love the main castle, very grand looking. Great work, keep it up! ~LW 8~ Quote
Zorro Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 I've seen plenty of beautifull pictures and an amazing ship in this thread! Keep up the good work . Quote
Rick Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 (edited) Not much to add to what's been said: it's great! My favorite detail is the doors on the deck. I agree on the bow-comments though... Edited August 11, 2009 by Rick Quote
StoneW4 Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 Great picture with realistic effects!! Which program did you use to create it? Quote
maydayartist Posted August 11, 2009 Author Posted August 11, 2009 Great picture with realistic effects!! Which program did you use to create it? Photoshop. I created a 3 level psd. First and third level with the changed original and in the level between the borderfree ship. And than rub out the place of the ship with 50% rubber intense. Quote

Admiral Bejaune Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 Nice ship. I really like the planking technique on the hull. Also very nice photoshop editing. -Admiral Béjaune Quote
WastedGrunt36 Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 I didn't notice any photo-shopping. Maybe I just don't have a eye for this stuff. Quote
maydayartist Posted August 14, 2009 Author Posted August 14, 2009 On page 2 if you really wanna see it ;) Quote
maydayartist Posted August 28, 2009 Author Posted August 28, 2009 Beautiful. You have a lot of talent! I look forward to seeing much more of you creations. This ship should be indexed as you used so many great technics. If you wanted to you could do a short tutoral on how you did the sides and a few other special technics for the ship building techniques index I am working on. I don't know where I can find the technique section or if it already started, so I upload them here. They could taken for it. Here are a few pics to show you the build in techniques. The red/brown of them are from my new WIP ship The curved "planking look" and the three points where they are fixed to the hull One of these fixpoints of the first ship and the cut behind the second mast. Two different systems to connect the canon shutter with the plank. The deckdoor and the technic solution to connect them to the mast. And the cabine with the seven sided window gallery. enjoy it Quote
Joey Lock Posted August 28, 2009 Posted August 28, 2009 Thats a very smart technique! I would like to see how it woud turn out with normal bricks rather than the wooden effect ones! Quote
maydayartist Posted August 28, 2009 Author Posted August 28, 2009 Yes this would be very nice too, but if make it thinner towards the top you need the log bricks or 2 round ones over and under a normal brick otherwise it wouldn't work. The possible colours for the log bricks are only: brown, black, darkgrey, grey, tan and white. Quote
Errorist Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 That's a very good technique. It makes the ship look a lot more realistic I also love the way you built those gunports. Very cool MOC!! Keep up the good work. Greetings, Errorist Quote
Captain Blackmoor Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 I like the smart technique for the tumblehome you use. Making curved shapes in a ship is always difficult, but it adds a lot of realism. No doubt the hard work will pay in the end. Keep it up! Quote
ThEGoDFaThEr Posted October 30, 2009 Posted October 30, 2009 Brilliant Pirate ship! Just loved the doors to the lower deck, what a nice idea! The sails look fantastic too, I hope you can get them painted in beautiful colors Cheers, ThEGoDFaThEr Quote
Yreodred Posted October 31, 2009 Posted October 31, 2009 Wow this is really a grand ship. You just have got a new Fan of your work. Nice to see a Ship of the Hanseatic League, i didn't know that there have been big ships like Galleons. I love how you did the Tumblehome and the seven sided Stern. I especially like your curved Planking it looks really realistic and elegant, but is it sturdy enough to move the Ship without breaking apart? Like someone said above, the gunports are ingenius! (particularly the first of the two versions you showed us above). Are the cannons able to move, so the gunports NEED to be opend or closed? I hope you don't mind if i copy your doors to lower deck for my small explorer Galeon i am currently building. One question, don't you think your Spritsail is slightly to big? It could be the angle of the Pictures on the other hand. Is the cabin going to get some furniture? Overall this is one of the best Lego ships i have ever seen. Keep on your outstanding work. Ps: on thing, please don't paint the Sails too much. Quote
Captain K. Posted October 31, 2009 Posted October 31, 2009 Very nice Ship! I like it very much. Capt. K. Quote
Legokilt Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 Maydayartist, I agree with the others. This is a great Ship. I really like the doors to below deck set at an angle. Great details. Great MOC. Quote
Fires-storm Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 This is a stunning MOC, one of my favorite pirate ships of all time so far, and I totally agree with the thought that this should be alego set, and wow, I looked at the step by step pictures for the side and still don't quite get how you did that planking, excellent technique!
