DarthSion Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 It seems as if there is going to be a Tekken movie this year, some of the cast are. Craig Marduk played by former wwa, wwe wrestler Nathan Jones. Paul Phoenix to be played by Ron Perlman, yes he was Gha Nachkt in the new clone wars, to me he will always be Koulikov from Stalingrad/enemy at the gates. King will be played by Dave Batista, yes former evolution member, wwe wrestler Batista. Lei Wulong is to be played by Jackie Chan. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0411951/ Quote
Siegfried Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 I predict that it'll be horrid. The Dead or Alive movie was, as was Mortal Combat and Street Fighter. Like most game movies they ignore the existing story and characters... I'm very glad that there still isn't a Soul Calibur one. On a positive note, Ron Perlman would be good for Paul. Quote
DarthSion Posted August 11, 2009 Author Posted August 11, 2009 (edited) What was wrong with Mortal Kombat, the first one was good, it was only 2 that sucked. So was resident evil 1 and 2. I hate to burst your bubble, but there is supposed to be a Soul Calibur movie being made, although i believe its in dev hell. Edited August 11, 2009 by DarthSion Quote
Tyrant Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 What was wrong with Mortal Kombat, the first one was good, it was only 2 that sucked. So was resident evil 1 and 2. I hate to burst your bubble, but there is supposed to be a Soul Calibur movie being made, although i believe its in dev hell. I have to echo the questions about Mortal Kombat and the first 2 Resident Evil movies. Mortal Kombat is still one of the most faithful video game adaptations out there. Now, obviously, it shouldn't have been hard with that game but given how many others have screwed it up apparently somethng about that is hard. The only thing that could have been changed to make it more accurate would have been amping up the violence. Given the nature of the games I think that is a valid desire, to be clear. Resident Evil 1 and 2 may not be accurate to the games, but they aren't terrible movies. If anyone wants really bad video game movies they need look no further than the "works" of Uwe Boll. Quote
Siegfried Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 What was wrong with Mortal Kombat, the first one was good, it was only 2 that sucked. Too much CG. To me it became just another (bad) effects movie. At that time graphics was a novelty, and they went overboard. The highlight was Raiden. I never saw the second. So was resident evil 1 and 2. I didn't like RE1 (it took too long just to get started and ended when it started getting good) so I didn't see the second. I'm not a fan of the games though so I can't make any comment other than that. I hate to burst your bubble, but there is supposed to be a Soul Calibur movie being made, although i believe its in dev hell. Yes, but I think my bubble is safe for now; it's due to be released in 2007... Quote

5150 Lego Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 If anyone wants really bad video game movies they need look no further than the "works" of Uwe Boll. Add to that list the guy that directed the "Doom" movie. That was horrible. Sad, cause there was so much potential to be great. Quote
Orion123 Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 Confirmed flu, most likely swine flu. I had that too. Like most video game movies, I doubt it will be good. But who knows? Orion Out :skull: Quote
Princess Muttonchops Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 I'd have more hope for the Tekken movie if it was done as a CG feature. The unlockable clips in the game are done gorgeously...why not just do a whole movie like that? And that's not counting the upcoming Tekken 6, which promises to be absolutely awesome. But seriously, what is Hollywood's obsession with turning any vaguely amusing console game or anime into live action flicks?? Arrgghh!!! Quote
DarthSion Posted August 12, 2009 Author Posted August 12, 2009 I beg to differ, Uwe Ball is good compared to McG and Bay. This actually hasn't been confirmed, i mean its early IMDB info, its about as accurate as wiki, so its take it with a gran of salt. I think it could be alright, most of Jackie Chans movies have been good, its almost a pity Jet Le isn't Law so we could have them go at it again like in the forbidden kingdom. Walrus Keeper, for one cost, CGI movies cost allot of money to make, and there are only a couple of good companies who can do it well. second is time, it takes a long time to do the CGI rendering. Zarkan Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 (edited) As most other people, I'm calling this right from the start: it's going to be crap. I beg to differ, Uwe Ball is good compared to McG and Bay Um, I hate most of what Michael Bay has done, and I still can't agree with that. At least he knows how to please the masses, if his box office records for the first two Transfomers movies are any indication. Uve Boll, on the other hand, has yet to make a sucessful film in that, or any other sense. Edited August 12, 2009 by Grevious Quote
DarthSion Posted August 12, 2009 Author Posted August 12, 2009 Pepsi, wii, microsoft all make lots of money, but are they any good, of course not. Quote
5150 Lego Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 (edited) I had that too. Like most video game movies, I doubt it will be good. But who knows? Orion Out :skull: There a a couple good ones out there. Resident evil movies were good, (not sure how true they were to the games) and Mortal kombat was fun. Both one and two. But i'll go into this with an open mind. (if i even watch it) Edited August 12, 2009 by 5150 Lego Quote
Zarkan Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 (edited) Pepsi, wii, microsoft all make lots of money, but are they any good, of course not. Opinions are not facts like movie ticket sale statistics are. Whatever your opinion of Michael Bay, its been shown time and time again that he knows how to make lots of money, if not necessarily a good movie. However, it's not set in stone whether the Wii is actually good or actually bad, and there are people who are not ultra casuals who actually like it. Edited August 12, 2009 by Grevious Quote
5150 Lego Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 Pepsi, wii, microsoft all make lots of money, but are they any good, of course not. That's a real stupid argument, and your really making yourself look foolish. You may not like them for whatever reason, but that's not to say they aren't any good. Pepsi is a great product, wii while not my choice in game consoles, has revolutionized the gaming world. And Microsoft..... Like i said, stop making yourself look foolish. MB is a good director. He gets results and produces movies people want o pay money (many times repeatedly) to go see. get over it. But who's to say if it was a "Good movie" or not. What really defies a good movie? Critics have been raping TF2 and G.I. Joe, but there making a killing (well i know TF2 is, not sure about G.I. Joe). My thinking is if this movie is doing that well (over $850 million worldwide) then i think the people that contributed to that (mainly ticket sales) would argue that it is in fact a "Good movie". Like i said earlier about the the Wii, like it or not, it did something that no other console has done before, and like you said Grevious, got people interested in gaming that normaly never would have. So i'd say its doing one darn fine job. Quote

5150 Lego Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 . You have something to say then say it. Sweet, back in the late ninety's early 2000's when I was a bit younger this was the biggest game, I actually remember playing this on an arcade machine. (anyone remember those?) Ah, they day of arcades. I always loved the atmosphere of Arcades. The sounds of a Street Fighter on one corner, and pin ball in the other. I still love playing the racing simulators. San Francisco Rush was one of my favorites. Quote
