The Lighting Repair vehicle isn't the most attractive thing ever, though considering it's purpose who can complain? Nice to see a full set of tools included - as well as the extra lights, fences, and green bin. Overall a huge

I totally agree, to me it has an ugly design, although maybe a realistic one. But it is a certain buy for me, a full set of tools, the green bin, and as somebody has pointed out Yellow Car Doors. I will be modifying mine, as I do not like the cherry picker design. But I still think it is a great set, because it has lots of things I use and want, and I like the design of the truck and cab, my favourate of the first wave.

But it is a realistic likeness to one and I will still buy it (I do not think it will retail at that price), because of the great new Torso it contains. I do agree it would have been nice to have a female MiniFig, but I am more than happy to get the new Torso. And of course Hoodies are unisex, so it would not take much to change the gender of the MiniFig!

There is no way that that tiny little car is $10. I know Lego is notorious for overpricing, but this is just a little too outrageous to be real. And look at what site this is- Amazon! They always overprice everything!

This year's Sports Car includes (apart from the minifig and the car itself) two additional contents: a fruit tree and an emergency telephone box. But the Car includes apart from the minifig and the car itself only that suitcase.

So the Car is surely not more than the Sports Car costs (since even if it was the same price this would be a price increase).

Now I think I know why the design of the Car looks a bit strange: it's only on the official box art where it looks strange - in the picture which shows it without background it looks much better.

Btw: Since we've got no official single box art pics of the Airport sets, the Tank Truck, the Piglets Enclosure With Tractor and the two remaining Fire sets and since it would even be strange if we only got only big sets in January but no small sets I bet that the sets of which Alywin now showed us pics will be released in December 2009/January 2010 and all the other City sets (we know until now) in March/April/June 2010.

I don't really buy many city sets any more, but I must say that I'm glad LEGO is releasing a Fire Station to match the Police Station from last year (I think it was 2008). They have just come so far in terms of playability and details, like a coffee machine, enough doors, interesting rooms instead of just monitoring rooms…

The only think I really don't like about the new Fire Station is the vehicles. The big fire truck would be ok, if it were not for what looks like a water tank from the new Power Miners sets as the cab. Those tall wraparound blue windows are just too much for me to handle, it's like a huge transblue wraparound windshield, which doesn't exist in the real world and I think shouldn't exist in the LEGO one. I guess the nice ladder part and details on the rear end of the truck sort of make up for it, but I can't get over the water tank-looking cab part. Even if the windshields were transblack, it would still look a bit odd, but not as odd.

The fire car also looks a bit to much like a stubby mouse to me. The front slopes out too much in an odd way, in my opinion. I would not want to buy either of the vehicles if they were released separately (which I guess is why they're not), but I suppose we have had enough good standalone fire vehicles over the last several years, so it doesn't matter too much.

I completely agree. The skinny new fire truck looks like it's evolving into the 7641 City Corner bus. The old 7239 that they have still available from 2004 is much more classically Lego-looking, but still with a modern design. The habit of using the same pieces in every set (the new windscreen and the 1x5x6 panels all over the Fire Station & Airport) is wearing thin.

It's a fine thing to do, LEGO does it to save money on making one piece for many sets instead of one piece in only one set. However in the past it worked well, now it's a failure, the building look really poor with them.

The ladder truck actually looks a lot like a Mercedes-Benz Econic ladder (ok, the windows aren't that big, but I think it's clear where the inspiration comes from):

The RC Passenger Train is usually 90-99e in various shops, while the 2009 Garage is minimum 89e and maximum 108e. But it's very possible that it will decrease a little if it doesn't sell well enough.

I wonder if these prices are an adjustment of the US prices to the Euro ones, or if the rest of the world will get raised prices too? $10 for 43 pieces does sound very much but if you convert it it's

LEGO has always "fallen in love" per say when they make a new windshield part.

Yes, exactly. I like the new piece but don't think it should be used all over the place just because it *is* new. It was great for the City Corner bus, but I don't think it works as a large window with a non-curved 1x5x6 panel on top, or as a windscreen in the firetruck.

Compare the new Fire Station or Airport with something like the 2006 Airport or even the 2007 Aquabase - in the latter, there were lots of trans light-blue pieces including the curved panels, the connecting passage to the planes, 2x Slave I cockpits, etc - in the new sets, the part palette for these kind of pieces is limited to the ubiquitous 1x5x6 panels, curved windows, and 1x4x6 window pieces.

Rick's pics are great in showing a modern fire engine, but there is still an angle in the windscreen which is entirely lacking in the new set.

Actually, the fire trucks that were probably used as inspiration have an extremely subtle windshield. So, the windshield TLC has used is more suited than the normal sloped windshield. I've also found another picture of said fire truck that might aid in my explanation.

All the fire engines here have vertical windscreens, more so I think even than the photos shown - the cab looks a bit like a mostly glass box. Not sure who the manufacturer is - Dennis maybe?

I would have to say I like both windshields from 2007 and 2010 equally

I just wish we could get more buildings. Most of these sets, while great, are either vehicles, fire vehicles, or airplanes.

All the sets look pretty good, except the car. IMO, that looks like one of my MOCs on LDD done in less than 2 minutes out of boredom. I'm pretty sure if you build that car in LDD, it will be cheaper

EDIT: I just made an approximate model on LDD and it ost around $22.50 USD

Dennis engine cabs look a bit like glass boxes indeed. I personally am not a fan of their design. Not too many Dennis engines running around in the Netherlands, but I guess the UK and Ireland must be full of them.
