Thanks Whung! Your Amazing!

Where did that copter come from??? :oh:

In these days of prelim pics and leaks this is a nice surprise!!

The Limo is nice, not great but still pretty good.

I guess I will have to get this now too

The Octan Truck is looking better and better each time we get better images!

Pig Pen is great, they all look much better now with the box art

Wow - the new limo and helicopter looks awesome!!!

The very first thing I thought of when I saw it, and I can't believe no one else has said it...

I thought it looked somewhat "Presidential"

I'm liking the city sets. The limo and helicopter is a new concept that I enjoy! Good job keeping it a secret by TLC.

Love the new limo helicopter set. Looks like big corporations are going to take over lego city :D

Move aside classic legoland figures here come the big boys heh.

Going to need a bigger apartment if so many good sets keep being released.

More like a bigger wallet .

Why are you complaining about them being large? In real life aircraft are huge, too, compared to many other objects, mainly buildings and structures. I mean look at the Airbus a380, one of the main landing gear tires are 3/4 the size of a fully grown adult! So that makes no sense, because the scale is accurate.

Why do you seem to take this so srsly? :hmpf:

Listen, I don't mind the large size, I personally am a fan of LEGO bulking up (6-wide trucks, Cafe Corner-sized buildings), that's what I collect, and that's what I will try to MOC. But to have a big airplane like that in my collection (and I'm trying to grow a downtown-type city here) means to have a big airport, and I simply won't have the space! Have you ever imagined what a Cafe Corner-scaled International airport fitting in a room without taking out a huge chunk of real estate, let alone the price? I'm not buying the large airplanes, even if their noses are brick-built awesomes, because I'd rather focus my bricks on something else.

I also don't buy the realism crap you're spouting off here, and you're treading a very, very slippery slope here.

Look at my name. I work as a Delta Connection pilot. :alien: It hurts me when people say these look <insert that tiresome argument>, because these are the types of planes I fly (3181), and they are almost very accurate. A brick built nose would look incredibly block-like and out of proportion.

Once again, you don't need a huge airport, or even one at all! You can just hang them up over your layout, as if they are passing by. Trust me, I have the Air show plane, Coast Guard Helicopter, Police Helicopter, Cargo Airplane, and the Agents fighter jet hung up over my layout. Do I have an airport? No, I don't. Does it still look decent without one? Very much so!

By the way, airliners are very large in real life, and recently LEGO has been increasing the realism rate on the City sets, so it is natural that the planes are gigantic compared to the other sets. Make sense? I hope so.

I like the blue helicopter more than the red one, maybe because it looks familiar:

You know something about flying? Very good. Then you realize you simply can't have jets taxiing 2 blocks across a cafe or an apartment building. You can't have 5 airplanes flying a hundred feet over a city and not have the FAA lose their eyebrows. You talk about realism and accurate scaling? Well there you go. If I get an airplane, I will *need* an airport, and if I build an airport I will *need* space. That's how I think, simple as that. To each his own, though. It simply won't work on a downtown/urban setting (whereas trains will fit very very perfectly for example)

Also, planes = bricks = money. EVen if I were to buy them without an airport they'd still be far behind in my priority list. That's just how I see it. There's still a Fire Brigade, CREATOR houses and the new mystery modular way ahead of the planes.

Don't forget 1x2 yellow cheese ;)

It looks like two regular cheese pieces to me.

Okay, so we all have different things to say about brick-built or moulded nose pieces, but folks it's Lego City - a childs toy and it's designed with children in mind not us adults.

Oh, saying that 'The Cobra' found this rightimage_12045_version_11961_size_2.jpg, could we see the next one of helicopters as a police one maybe ?

I think we are bound to find out more this comming week again about the first half of 2010 releases.

I like the fact that you changed your post from "Personal" to "Seriously". Why did you do that?

The FAA does not exist in my layout, as does others.

The airplanes and helicopters and airplanes are all at different heights and flying in different directions. Obviously you are very confused as in real life near large cities airspace is very congested. And also, why can't helicopters hover over downtown settings? That is where the most helicopters are. Airplanes fly over cities too, so I see no point in that statement. Honestly, it's not that space consuming to make a small, regional airport. All you need is the airport from 2006 and a few packs of road plates. You make it sound like it is impossible to build an airport without devoting a large amount of space to it. All you need is a runway, airport building, and some planes.

Wait a second.... We didn't start this over airplanes, it was about the blue helicopter. Helipads are often isolated and do not need an airport to accompany them, just a pad with a big "H" on it and a wind sock, obtained in the seaplane set. Wait! Right there is another instance where you can have a plane and not need an airport. As long as you have a pier or harbor, you can park the seaplane there. In fact, many people park seaplanes at marinas! You can just take off from the water, which is not that hard to recreate in LEGO.

In fact, many large skyscrapers and office buildings have helipads on the rooftop so I don't know where the heck you are coming from with aviation not working in urban areas.

Ah, 'Legoliner Pilot' and 'Wooootles' I don't want to over step my mark but can we stay on target and just talk about City 2010 please. I think a new post needs to created to discuss the aircraft issue if you like.

Back on track, 'The Brick Green Giant' said the cheese piece was 2 1x1 pieces, I scanned my eyes over a picture of it and saw 1 1x2 piece.

We are talking about it! This stemmed from an argument about the scale of the helicopter scale, which is a City 2010 set! No new topics need to be created, as it would just get merged with this one anyway.

Also I would really like it if you would stop randomly stating in the middle of a debate that any theme is made for children besides exclusives. It is very irrelevant, and no one needs to be reminded that LEGO is a child's toy. :hmpf:

Yes, let's just take a step back and relax.

While it is interesting to see the diversity of opinion about the new piece, let's keep it friendly. If you feel that anyone has overstepped the mark, please use the REPORT button and alert a moderator.

This is the discussion thread for all City sets, it is not a topic to discuss who has more experience in the field of aviation or hanging layouts or what is naturalistic vs LEGO's version

I still don't get what's so exciting about the 2-wide cheese

I kind of glossed over that small promo plane before but to me it looks like a less-good version of the great one with the icecream stand that was released this year. Interesting use of the new bubble cockpit in a different colour, however.

Ooh, the first official LEGO limousine! :oh:

It looks very interesting with the double doors on the back, and I don't like how it uses black bricks instead of trans-black on the middle and back windows. Also it seems a bit thin because it's four-wide, but still pretty cool!

I wish it was in a set by itself without the helicopter, though.

By the way, is it just me, or does 3181 Passenger Place have alternating trans-bright green (the new Atlantis cockpit and diver visor color) and trans-light blue windows? :oh:

Well, it will make the BrickLink prices for the yellow version much cheaper (currently $0.65 USD)...

I will agree to stop debating. :classic:

That new plane is actually another type of stunt airplane-- it is modified after a modern Extra 300s, while the last one was modeled after a converted warbird.

Also, the pigs are now pink and have black eyes, if I'm correct. I wouldn't get your hopes up, guys- the torso on the female look a LOT like Engineer Max's overalls. On the flip side, are those red apples I spot in the feeding trough? The minifigures are a huge disappointment, it seems like ever since the Carousel set was released the same five torsos have been over used (you know which ones) over and over again. Thankfully, in the Limo with Helicopter set, the executive's wife is wearing this shiny new torso:

airport_minifigure_2010.png

Also, why are the windows in the 3181 Passenger Plane varying colors? :oh3::wacko:

3181-box.png

By the looks of it the one piece cockpit is for the jet liner, fire copter and new bluey, hence from that I would say all three might have the same tinted plastic windows. What do you all think ?

:classic: Love the Lego Limo! Definitely on my wanted list, even though I don't have that much City sets. But in my opinion a very original set, can't remember ever seeing a limo before...

The blue helicopter doesn't tingle my vehicle love. :sceptic:

Its shape isn't anywhere near a real heli, and it's far from the older System designs.

3222-box.jpg

what an awesome set!!! I will definately buy it, some only like the limo, i like that helicopter very much as well!! :D

Oh I'm so getting the helicopter and limo set! I love the female fig the torso is perfect for Hermione in the deathly hallows!

I must buy impulses(and lime green tractor with pigs, maybe).

I must buy impulses

That seems to be the idea behind them...

Also, why are the windows in the 3181 Passenger Plane varying colors? :oh3::wacko:

3181-box.png

It looks like the seats are yellow, and the windows are blue, so some of the windows appear to be green...
