where did you see the blurry photos (may I ask??)

You can see it here

:classic:

That's 8403, actually.

Which I'm totally getting. Civilian Lego, yay!

I just thought of something, why not check out Clutch Powers movie and look at Lego City closely for something different, like I spotted the police helicopter was a lot different to the last police chopper.

I'm a conformist! everyone !. :sweet:

Yep, sorry  BTW, what's the 8404 supposed to be?

A fan choice. If I recall correctly it's based on those three concept art images that Toys 'R' Us ran on their website somewhere last year. A lot of the stuff on those images has actually been produced already. It's speculated the final choice for 8404 might be a truck stop.

I remember voted! I clicked on the picture to read more about it and then ended up voting on the truckstop by misstake  Perhaps more made that misstake? Now we will get another truck set instead of an exiting monorail or town square! :cry_sad:

Well, one half of the town square ended up in City Corner, while the other half was basically Town Plan in the end, so I suppose we already have that.

I'm pretty sure the voting was after the Town Plan release. :classic: Or? Anyway I remember the subburb-train/busstop as the coolest suggestion. I imagine it something like the Lego Airport Shuttle 6399.

Edited by Ferdik

Well, it did look pretty much identical to the airport shuttle. And the bus and taxi seen in that picture have since made it into existing sets (the bus in City Corner and the taxi will be included in the new train station released in August). I'd love an elevated train, though. An extra level adds something quite nice to your city.

I think it's time for a new monorial! People pay overprices for the old ones. Lego must know that.

Now, with doors on cars and great houses it will be the total reclaim of City theme for Lego - back stronger then ever. :classic:

According to some guys on the Sydney Lego Train Club mailing list;

"walk into a TRU ask the staff member about a TRU Lego exclusive set give the set number get them to look in the Lego city section on their system, when 8404 comes up ask them to click on it up comes Public Transportation at $159.95 AUD"

I hope they're correct as I like this option better than the truck stop.

Very odd, that TRU told me that they have NO 8404 on their system and even Lego Australia says NO too, yes to the TRU truck at the same time as the yellow Lego truck being release for August though.

Also odd that $159.95 is a flagship set - I don't think so  - could TRU be getting the red train this year, they do stock track and track accessories.

If it's not a truck stop then I hope for a city square then, we don't have too many monorails in Australia especially in the country side !

I think I might just go and ask my two local TRU's and see what they say !

Opps there I go again, duh on my part :grin:

I see now, he meant the TRU Exclusive

It's not odd that Lego Australia won't talk about it. a) TLG policy is not to talk about unreleased sets b) since its a TRU exclusive they probably have a contract which says TRU get to announce the set.

$159 is pretty expensive for an exclusive and for city, I'd call that a flagship set for the city range.

I might go down to my TRU myself, I'd love to confirm what the set is for myself.

Don't worry about that, I have done it and would like to who the smeg at TRU chose public transport - and worse we don't even know what that is - bus - ferry - taxi - tram - rail-bus (we call that O'barn here is South Australia) or more trains...meh !

Staff at Tea Tree Plus TRU called Sydney HQ - 8404 is comming up as public transport $159.95 and that's it ?

WTF ?!

Goodness I can only hope it's either a bus or taxi station with a cafe and workshop for maintaining said vehicles attached to it !

I'm a conformist! ! :sweet:

P.S. Looks like I have too scratch build my roadhouse and town square too !

Could the Public Transport set be a monorail?

Yes, please.

Could the Public Transport set be a monorail?

If TLG decided to release this option I'm 100 percent sure it'll be an elevated train (but not monorail), Rapseflaps.

Do only think about how angry we AFOLs would get if we don't get an elevated train as a Public Transportation Center set.

And a bus was already released last year and a taxi will be released this year - so the PTC would have to include an elevated train.

Thank you very much for this information, peterab! :classic:

Nevertheless I fear that this information is wrong. :sceptic:

I's without any doubts that an elevated train would sell the most of these three options.

But the simple reason for this my high doubts is that we already will get a passenger train this year which looks very similar to an elevated train. So TLG would concure within its own products (since trains are always very expensive and so many of us would have to decide whether to buy the passenger train or the elevated train).

It's really not nice of TLG to not let us know which option they'll now release. I mean: The Mon Cal Cruiser (which is a fan choice set, too and from a licensed theme - namely Star Wars) was shown at NY TF last year, too. :cry_sad:

I agree. :hmpf_bad:

I just really, really hope we're not getting the Truck Stop. Public Transport looks perfect.

I wouldn't say that since we have top-notch City sets like Airport, Construction Site, Garage which are about $100, so it's quite ok. If the 8404 is an exclusive one, it has probably got more than 1500 pieces. On the other side, it's not 10XXX but 8404 the number pointing it's not an exclusive.

I don't see a reason over here. Why?

See no reason, either. They can issue another bus within 8404. There are lots of example when module sare repeated: tractors (7634, 7637, 7684), fire trucks (7239, 7945), police cars and vans that are on sale at the same time. So, one more bus would be great. Enyway, a Lego City does have to have a good public transportation system, and we have only one bus 7641 now. Moreover, it would be fascinating if they make an articulated bus ;)

But the simple reason for this my high doubts is that we already will get a passenger train this year which looks very similar to an elevated train.

How come? That's a typical Siemens Desiro!

And once again, nothing can stop them from releasing an elevated train that would look a bit alike.

Well, let's hope it will be a public transportation center and nothing else!

Word. Thru Legos history it's infact more common than don't. Humans tend to want/buy several similar items since we like to collect stuff. :)

Kids (and AFOL) like buses so one more bus is no wild guess. Particularly since they invented that new bus window. A public transportation also give Lego a better environment profile bringing balance to all the trucks they release. :classic:

Hmm...it all depends on how many kids voted, in comparison to AFOLs. Kids generally prefer trucks, so they would vote Truck Stop. I was under the impression more AFOLs would vote because kids wouldn't know about the vote. I just hope that's true.

No-one, I'm basing that on how a lot seem to like them more than they would like, say, City Corner.

In the City Corner I believe it is the bus that attract both kids and adult most. The buildings is just a bonus.

I'm sure if a moving sub-train appear in the same set as a bus, kids won't leave the store without it. Same for an AFOL.

I imagine that's the normal LEGO price with an extra TRU $10 on top, which would price it the same as the City Construction Site or Airport (as Night City Dream says). The Garage was $AUD140 too, so it will be interesting to see what they can squeeze in public transport wise for that price range/ piece count.

Since we're already getting a Train Station, I don't know how much of a building there could be. Public transport interchanges tend to be quite big and complex but I doubt that will be LEGO's focus for this set. It could be like the Construction Site, with a medium-size building and a range of different vehicles to go with it. I wouldn't mind another bus, but as always, it depends on the final set
