I love the new Pig set. It is a little gleam of hope in the otherwise dark (except its brightly colored in reality ) City lineup. I'm looking forward to the other farm sets, especially if the one called "Farmer" in an impulse.

I suppose the 4 x 4 could go with the helicopter to make a forest fire fighting set (instead of being part of a separate set with a boat trailer). Furthermore, on the pics linked below I don't see a coupling mechanism for a trailer.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/28476480@N04/...993301/sizes/l/

I guess TLG made them take these pics off, as these photos were deleted.

The only way to solve the pickup question is if someone could find a way to read the front bumper because it has the set number.

My guess is that since we have not seen a small city fire set that this truck w/ boat set will be like 7942 and the coast guard truck put together, or a nice fire engine with a boat trailer. Hope to see pics soon.

I agree it's a bit too simple as a standalone set, but if put together with all the other Farm sets, it will be a perfect farm scene. we have cows, dog, cat, horse, rat, and now piglets! And the colour scheme is consistent with 7637

You're right, Nohohon - it will surely look great when combined with the big Farm set.

So hopefully we'll then get in summer a farmhouse with a small garden, too! And a tractor with a garage and a plough and a manure barrel are necessary, too!

These would be  sets!

I think the fire helicopter is too un-realistic and i think that 4x4 comes w/ the copter because that big round thing is legos version of the water drop buckets that are used from helicopters. I think (I hope) lego is holding out on the fire truck with boat. I also hope it isn't going to be a remake of this!

By the way, thanks for the pics, but i think half of lego city fire 2010 is hopeless.

same old same old!!

couldnt they come up with a better idea for an airport?

it looks exactly like the last one!

and this one is much more <insert that tiresome argument>

i am sooo dissapointed at lego city this year..

a huge step back for lego if you ask me.

and that fire plane thing? whats that all about? horrible front piece..

and the octan set..the front is nice but the back is just what? 6 pieces?

is this duplo??

come on lego you can do better than this..

did someone quit there job on the design team so they had to copy every passed set??

i am still keeping my fingers crossed for the second half of this year but if it looks anything like this i would have saved enough money to finally get green grocer!

(still hoping castle isnt as bad as city is this year)

Now that I see the Airport, I am very disappointed. The revolving glass door is back and it looks more ugly than ever. That same over-used coffee maker is back [for the fourth or fifth time, no less] albeit with a few bricks changed around. The structure is, once again assembled of glass panels and a few white bricks. To add injury to insult, the second floor [how do I say this] isn't even complete, with a few gaps on the side and in various other locations. The roof isn't complete either :hmpf_bad: Why is there ladder pieces on the front top of the building? I wouldn't call this an airport, I would call it shopping plaza or a badly designed restaurant.

Sorry if this sounds a little dumb but is the red airliner included with the airport?

The control Tower isn't much better. It looks like TLG took the Tower from 7739 Coast Guard Patrol Boat & Tower, , removed most of the pieces, and stuck some windows and plates on top of it. In short, it simply looks bad.

The Yellow seaplane is average in a sense that I can't see what you're supposed to do with it. Am I missing something here? Nonetheless, since I love Lego aircraft I will probably buy it.

The Octan Tanker is great. I love it. Especially the trailer and the gas pump.

The fire helicopter looks a awful. Looks like the current Police Helicopter times ten in red.

I like the new panels on the back of the plane that can be opened.. :oh: But the rest is just boring and <insert that tiresome argument> , another rehash of those awful big ugly nose and tail pieces.

As an AFOL aircraft fan I must say I am disappointed with the new airport sets, except for the yellow seaplane. :cry_sad:

I'm not interested in anything on that table but the Octan truck. It fits in with my layout perfectly. The fire vehicle looks like every other fire vehicle that size, and the fire helicopter looks like one big moulded piece. I haven't bothered with aircrafts since they started making them out of large pieces, and I'm obviously not going to get the airport if I don't have any planes for it. None of the other themes on the table interest me, I mean Toy Story looks cute and Prince of Persia has some interesting minifig moulds but I like my collections to expand over the years rather than just exist for one year. Atlantis doesn't appeal to me at all, expecially since they discontinued Pirates and ran with this instead. What the?

So, Octan truck it is.

you are not the only one phoinix :classic: i am also very dissapointed about next years releases.

i'm still hoping there will be some awesome castle sets or some other stuff we might get instead of pirates.

:cry_sad:

I`m totally agree with you guys, the only great thing is the tanker, but still it has so dull and already used front grill...

The airport is also a bit hackwork, but i like the new plane livery and the terminal parts will be a great addition to my new already big terminal made of two 7894. But i like the tower. So, bad as a model good for parts. The service car is also out of time design.

Yellow seaplane is a big dissappointment for me, i was expecting to see smthing like civil 2008 Police plane, but with other build. So wouldnt buy.

The same about police - chopper is sleek, but too big again and ... its fire heli! :sceptic: How long can you produce it?

You see, phoinix is absolutely right, lego dont make any more efforts in designing new models, they overall good but very very bad in details... This 2010 design could be great in 2005, 2006, at least 2007 when we had <insert that tiresome argument> older sets to compare with, but now we cant see any improements...

The last hope is that the other half will be better.

And by the way, the photos are from lego festival in Russia, Moscow !!!

I have a question. Is that red airliner included with the airport or is that the new stand alone airliner set?
According to the things I've seen during the event the airport is a single set. Though I can't be 100% sure - it's preliminary versions, so anything goes.

By fav is yellow-and-white seaplane. It's classics, so it's my fav. I totally disagree with BatonMedved on Police Seaplane - it was awful - since the plane of such proportions cannot fly at all.

The new seaplane has the most clever usage of double-height car doors - they form the back of the fuselage (I can remember old classic horse-trailer with similar technique).

I'll bet you $10 the set is still $40-$50, all the Farm sets are HUGELY overprices and having 4 new pigs will not help the price.

Ok, fine, I'll use that $10 to make up for the markup even if I'm wrong!

I do think that there is a chance that it could be under $40, possibly $35...It all depends on if its an exclusive or not (I hope it isn't)

Fingers crossed...

I would think that the Farm set is a TRU exclusive because the rest of the Farm sets were. If the simple tractor we got this year is $13, then the track and the carrier is at least $25-$30, nevermind the other things like the pigs.

I have waited 20 years for Farm sets and the price of them is sadly keeping me away.

I don't see why everyone is calling the Pigs, 'piglets'. A piglet is a baby pig and by the look of them they are full grown.

I think this was due to the translation from the original German set list. You are right though they do look like big piggies!

So hopefully we'll then get in summer a farmhouse with a small garden, too! And a tractor with a garage and a plough and a manure barrel are necessary, too!

Nice ideas KD. Don't forget the sheep too though!!!

Okay, might as well comment on the new pictures, now that everyone else has.

Fire Station: Well, against all our hopes and wishes, TLC has done it once again - and the Fire subtheme has appeared for the third time in a row. Needless to say, I'm not especially happy, although this was surely expected by many. However, unlike many here, I actually think this new fire station is the best out of the three City designs, as it takes everything that was good about the second and fixes the one major problem with it - namely the lack of interior space. I'm eager to see sets of this in person, as there looks like there's a lot of room in there for a good interior. Add that to the inclusion of a fire pole, trees, a cat, and two good vehicles, and you have a fantastic kit that is only marred by the fact that it's still a Fire kit.

Fire Boat: Again, it's a remake, but fortunately it's much better than the horrible Fire Boat we got in 2001. Unlike that piece of garbage, this one has a more consistent fire scheme and actually looks like a fire boat. Using a recolor of the Coast Guard boat hull was a great idea, and it looks excellent along with the tall cockpit. Plus, as with the new fire station, it seems like it has a good amount of interior space, which hopefully will be filled with some nice details.

Fire Copter: If it wasn't for one minor (no, major) detail, this would be an excellent set, and a great improvement on the poorly designed Fire copter from 2009. Unfortunately, as much as I hate to say it, they've really blown it with the front. Seriously, I'm not as hard a critiquer of <insert that tiresome argument> parts, but even I can't overlook such a blatant cop-op as this. It's like the designers woke up one morning and didn't feel like making a good front out of basic parts, and instead just called their friends in the new parts division and asked them to make a one piece front that has more in common with Playmobil than lego. This is utter crap, lego, and I sure hope that it doesn't become a trend. :sadnew:

Airport: In direct contrast to the new Fire Station, the new Airport fails to fix barely any of the problems with the old one, and in the process removes some of the great features like the baggage roundtable and the boarding walkway. The plane is just as big, the airport's interior isn't much better, and the control tower is inferior to the excellent one in the 2006 airport. Needless to say, this is very disapointing, especially since I was one of the few who requested a new Airport subtheme.

Seaplane: On the flip side, the new civilan seaplane offers another excellent airplane in the classic style, and this is something I could actually see myself buying for my town display. It's nothing special, true, but it's still a great kit - I only wish I could say the same about the new airport.

Tanker Truck: Now this is more like it! Back in 2007, I was hoping that TLC would eventually create a whole Octan subtheme to go with the excellent Gas Station released that year, including a tow truck and tanker. Sadly, when we did get a tow truck, it went with a totally different subtheme, and that dashed my hopes for the latter vehicle. And then, out of the blue, TLC suprises me with this beauty of a kit! :sweet: Seriously, this is the perfect example of how to create a City equivilent of the tanker trucks of old, as it manages to be beautiful in design and color scheme whill not being exceedingly huge. I won't be buying it, as I don't have room in my town, but I'm still glad that City 2010 isn't a total disapointment. :classic:

Tractor With Pigs: I saved the best for last, and now it's time for me to express my grattitude to TLC for continuing the Farm theme. Sure, it's only one kit, but man is it a great one! Four awesome new pigs and two farmers combined with an awesome tractor and some nice acessories make this an absolute must have for me, as well as being an all around great kit.

Now, here's hoping that the summer City line next year is better.

Well, if that is what we are getting in 2010 city line, I will save some money... I don't see myself buying too many of these <insert that tiresome argument> sets. The worst set has to be the airport. I can't beleive it still. Huge parts and looks too much like playmobile... The fire station is pretty dull too with huge parts and a way too simple design. The tanker is looking good althought it has too many large parts for the back. The helicopter is on the other hand looking great, even if it has a huge front piece. The fire boat is okay I guess but nothing exciting. The little farm and seaplane are great but overall, 2010 looks like a disapointment for me.

I found descriptions [or rather, previews] for some of the 2010 City sets... The translations are a little murky though. These descriptions can be found [in English] here.

7206 Fire Helicopter - This great new model has a huge bucket of water, two soft propeller, water cannon, three minifigures and field fire truck also.

7208 Fire Station - A new fire station includes a new modern fire truck, pole, followed by firefighters in an emergency event, while the detailed hostel and a lot of sophisticated accessories - every future fireman surely come into his own. Click here to see a more high-quality image of this set.

3182 Airport - brand new airport has something for everyone - includes transport plane with an opening cockpit, control tower, terminal building with a revolving door, Storage Containers and five minifigures.

---

Hold on! I just asked if the red airliner was included with 3182 Big City Airport. The description said that the airport includes a 'transport plane', which is coincidental because the last airport (7894-Airport) had a red airliner included as well. Also, the separate plane is usually a different color. Hmm...

100% agreed. TLC needs to make a REAL airpost with Taxiways, a proper runway, tarmac, and a better terminal. All the airports are assembled out of glass panels and a trickle of white bricks. Heck, they don't even look like airports!

I missed the pictures in this thread, but it was trivial to find them anyway.

The airport is okay. I think the front facade is the best one they have made yet, but the interior design is odd, especially the second floor and unfinished roof. I wasn't expecting much here since TLG has never made a decent airport building in the past either. They have always been way too small, even by the standards of Lego buildings. Airports are the one thing you really have to build MOCs of in order to get anything decent for a city layout.

The red plane looks identical to the one in the last airport. I don't like that plane design they have been using for the last few years. The scale is excellent and much better than the classic planes, but they rely too much on huge, specialized pieces. The worst offender has to be that single-piece wing.

Can you show us this technique in an older model? I can see the "doors" but I wasn't sure looking at the pics. Do they open up for people is it for containers? Secondly, would there be two "doors" or one?

I'm not sure what set he was referring to, but it's used in the helicopter in 6398.

But when you look at the pictures of the event seen on BS and Flickr you can see a white-red plane. The only question is whether this is the seperate Airliner set or a/the plane included in the Airport set.

I personally can't imagine that the Big Airport comes without a plane - that would be the first time in decades.

Plus think about kids wanting as much playability as possible - so an airport set without plane wouldn't sell very well.

And even think about that not all sets shown there were complete - e. g. the Fire Truck was shown theree without boat and trailer.

Since I do not like these oversized planes I really would embrace if the Big Airport comes without the plane - then I pehaps might buy it (nevertheless the chance is very low that I'll buy it - but it would be given) since I really like the awesome exterior of the main building and the tower and the small airport vehicle and teh minifigs look great, too!

Agreed on the tanker, I've been hoping for a remake of set 6594. A must buy.

I could also see the trailer being converted into a nice tanker for a train as well, just add 4 sets of train wheels and some couplers and you're off.

I think the new seaplane door usage is similaк to the old-school horse trailer:

6359-1.jpg

This helps to create the angle.

Regarding the exact way to connect pieces, will refer to Brickfactory:

002.jpg

As far as I can recollect now, the plane has two doors, and there's a small luggage compartment, the suitcase was placed there.

Klaus-Dieter, you're correct there's no point in selling airport and plane separately. Though, as I've mentioned before, I can't be 100% sure, since these are preliminary sets. Anyway, i'm not City-air-whatever fan, and I prefer MOCs :)

Hi!

I'm not that critical with those Junior Parts - it worked to some extend at the Coast Guard Helicopter. Maybe it is my fault that we got it, because I suggested a forest fire theme with a Heli/Bucket, Brush Truck, Water Bomber and so on - so I have to like the new sets.

And - it looks like we will get a live net (Sprungtuch) which will make a perfect addition to the 10197 Fire Station and my modified truck...

Best Regards,

JanSüd

That helicopter is also using the same way to build the angled sides of the aircraft.

I don't think the Fire 4x4 will come with a boat. In the description on the Czech website it only said it would include a 'field fire truck'.
