Stealth Hunter Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 Lego 7206 - City Fire Department helicopterLego 7207 - City Fire Department Boat Lego 7213 - City fire fighting truck with boat Even though I'm not that happy to see a fire fighter line in 2010, I've got to admit I#m looking forward to these for the following reasons: 7206 - The last helicopter was catastrophal, let's hope LEGO won't do this mistake again. I want a fire fighting helicopter which is at least slightly realistic. 7207 - It's the same with the boats, since the World City line they looked miserable and the last one was even horribly <insert that tiresome argument>. I hope to see a good one this time, TLC! 7213 - In my opinion it's always good to add some diversity to my fire departments fleet. To cut it short, I kind of love the LEGO fire trucks released in the last year. Quote
salty tbone Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 At some point, I hope some AFOLs will realize we're not the center of Lego's universe. Still, I would argue that in the past 5-8 years, Lego has been been very good to us AFOLs, and the inevitable release of new emergency sets isn't a reason to lose composure. And sure, there's still firemen sets in stores, but they're two years old and due to be updated. Plus, who's to say these won't be so awesome even jaded AFOLs will want to buy them? Quote

I completely agree with all these points. Let's at least wait for the pictures (I bet the first ones will be blurry again, removed from EB, everyone searching for prelims, commenting on blurry prelims, etc.) And the most interesting (AFOL targeted) sets will probably be S@H exclusives anyway. Zarkan Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 (edited) Ah crap, it's back to Fire again. Darn it TLC, why must you continue to put out a new fire theme every two years! I know we had a new firestation every few years back in the old days, but at least then you didn't let it eclipse all the other possible sets and themes! Ah well, at least we are getting a new airport (which I actually wanted), possibly a fuel tanker truck, and another farm set. But still, this is rather disapointing - and also very likely. Thank you very much for this list, Christian! I must say that I'm really, really disappointed about what TLG offers to us in the first half of 2010! Again a whole Fire theme and some Airport sets - that's a shame! Of course some of these sets won't look bad - but for what do we need again firemen and fire vehicles?! The only bright spot is the Enclosure Piglets With Tractor and perhaps the City Runabouts . At least they don't stop the Farm theme after one year. I'm really upset about what TLG is offering to us there! Last year they were asking their fan community (and so even us - do you remember the forms we should sent to Copmike?!) about which new themes they want for 2010. They asked for ideas which either have never been done or at least haven't been done in the last ten years. And now they release these themes they told us not to post as ideas again! Does TLG want to make fun of us?! Firstly asking tokenistic what we want whereas they already planned to release Fire and Airport again! I wasted hours and days thinking about which sets I'd like to see, wrote down these ideas with having to look up nearly every second word (because of my bad English) and now they show us that they even don't want to change what they have been doing for years - bringing back all that boring emergency sets again and again. A clear declaration fans made (you can read it in the presentation that was made by one of the people presentating the output of the forms to TLG) that we fans do not want more emergency sets but more everyday life sets. But what does TLG?! That is what I call the by TLG so often promoted "listening to the wishes of their fans"! This year is with tthe Farm theme in spring, the Town theme in summer, the Wind Turbine Transport and the Winter Toy Shop a real top year for Lego City fans like me! I hoped that TLG will continue the direction of releasing more civilian sets. But they do want ot bring back every time all that old boring emergency stuff! In total opposition to this year 2010 seems to become an absolute flop which concerns City! I'm really, really disappointed and angry that TLG is wasting its and ours time and money to only bring back what we already had hundreds of times!!! There could have been that awesome and really needful sets like a bank, a post office, a hotel, a family house and a grocery we all have mentioned in this survey last year and which we all want that much!!! :cry_sad: Bad job, TLG! I'm sorry for these unfriendly words - but it's really not without reason that I am very, very angry! Klaus-Dieter Klaus Dieter, I don't mean to be rude, but I am really starting to get sick of your excessive use of huge bold fonts and emoticons. I know, I don't like the news either, but your formatting and huge amount of smileys is really making your posts an eyesore. Could you please try to tone both down a bit? brickzone Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 Pig pen for the farm sounds like a must have and to be honest I had though Farm might have been a one-off. I'll be interested to see the others, I'm accepting enough that Lego have to release the core emergency sets over and over because kids grow up (i.e. Lego have to appeal to a new "generation" every 3 years or so). Besides, it's possible any new sets will be more interesting. I'd like to see a newer and better hospital though - while certain past ones have appeal, the last "modern" design was a bit lacking. While I understand people voicing their disappointment, I don't think people need to be quite so vocal and ranting. The A in AFOL stands for something. Besides, I don't know about the rest of you but in the current circumstances I need a break from cool sets! There are plenty for the second half of this year and indeed some themes we know about next year as it is. Quote
Sandy Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 Hmm, I was under the impression that the "3000"s were DUPLO sets instead of System sets. Is this correct? And all these sets are coming January, so there's still the rest of the year to get more variety of sets - remember the big town set TLG asked about, the one with the three options? As far as firestations go, they don't interest me even a bit, so I'm not going to waste my breath talking about how I'm not going to buy them. Quote
The Rancor Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 I will wait to see how the airport and plane sets turn out, because if they aren't massive pieces, they might be good. On the other hand, Fire dept. has happened too often for me so I would only be interested in the piglet enclosure (just for piglets) Quote
frogstudio Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 (edited) Lego has to keep those pyromaniac minifigs under control! For sure, the best post of the topic!!! Made fall of my chair with laughter! Concerning the topic itself, I think we all should calm down. We haven't even seen the set!!! I wouldn't mind to get a hellicoptersimilar to the Coast Guard one, or a real hidrant one. The piglet set sounds promising (as it is a hint to new animals). The tanker could be a great one (think of the use of round panels... in fact, just today I was wondering why they didn't release one and was thinking of building a MOC). The roundabout also sound good... So, in fact, there are, at least for me only two "questionably boring" sets. And, a small reminder to all of us... if we don't like it, we are not obliged to buy it!!!! Sometimes, when reading this kind of topics, some of us sound as junkies being supplied bad quality drugs!!! Just my two cents, not meant to bug anyone. Edited August 11, 2009 by frogstudio Quote
The Green Brick Giant Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 Why is everyone complaining? It's clear that sometime next year there will be a few Fire sets. However that won't stop LEGO from making awesome new City sets. I was really hoping for transportation in January, Airport and a lot more train sets, and then Fire and Zoo sets for the summer. I think it's only a matter of time before LEGO creates a zoo with all the new animals it's making. Quote
Svelte Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 Hmm, I was under the impression that the "3000"s were DUPLO sets instead of System sets. Is this correct? It would make sense, since these are Jan releases only and (a) Lego never releases so many City subtheme sets at once (b) lower set numbers generally mean Duplo - currently system City sets are numbered in the 7xxxs (as these ones are). Split like this the list looks like: CITY Lego 7206 - City Fire Department helicopter Lego 7207 - City Fire Department Boat Lego 7208 - Big City Fire Department Station Lego 7213 - City fire fighting truck with boat Lego 7684 - City-enclosure piglets with tractor CITY DUPLO Lego 3177 - City runabouts Lego 3178 - City seaplane Lego 3179 - City car repair Lego 3180 - City tank truck Lego 3182 - Big City Airport Quote
just2good Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 Aw great, Fire! Fire is too overused. But, Airport! I love the airport sub-theme! Its so awsome!!! I never got to get the Airport, so heres my chance! I only have the Passenger Plane! The piglets sound okay, thow. Quote

However there needs to be more than that, only 5 sets? I'm hoping LEGO makes a real airport with big and small planes and a whole subtheme like they used to. Plus once again... more trains! :) Quote
Raven Brickroft Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 Finally! More livestock. I'm really interested in that Pig pen set. But why the firefighter sets, again? *sigh* Ah well, hopefully it does well. Quote

Best post in this thread. People act like TLC hasn't been giving the AFOL community sets based on there requests. peeps need to realise that were not the target audience and kids have, and always will like fire stations, police and construction. It is what it is. Time to accept it and move on. Klaus Dieter, I don't mean to be rude, but I am really starting to get sick of your excessive use of huge bold fonts and emoticons. I know, I don't like the news either, but your formatting and huge amount of smileys is really making your posts an eyesore. Could you please try to tone both down a bit? Seconded. Third motion. Seriously Klaus Dieter, while we all appreciate feed back, whether it be good or bad, you take it to extreme. Calm down. Its not the end of the world, nor should it be a big surprise that were getting a new fire station and (possibly) a new airport. personally, i welcome a new fire station as the last one sucked. Something more traditional, with maybe 3 bay doors would be cool. Two stories tall with a fire pole like the cafe' corner fire station set we got earlier this year. maybe even a hook and ladder truck. Also hoping that that tanker truck is an 8 wide semi truck with tanker trailer!! Quote
Svelte Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 That makes a lot of sense. However there needs to be more than that, only 5 sets? This is only the Jan list so far. I imagine it will be like 09, where Construction was released at the start of the year, and Farm in March/April. This list also probably doesn't include exclusives, which I assume amazon.de doesn't normally get if their competitors are selling them. Quote
Derek Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 While I am expecting just the bare bones for the new fire theme, there is still a possibility that we will see some civilians in these sets. If there is, say, a burning shop or a cat in a tree, it would definately improve the playability for kids, and the display possiblities for adults. Look at the Agents Robo Attack set- that included 3 superb new civilian figures, complete with new prints and pieces. Those were absolutely unecessary for Lego to include, but they did anyway. And with all the civilian sets for City 2009, it would be strange for them to abandon such a good thing. While I am expecting the worst, it seems that Lego has turned a new leaf within the past few years, and they may very well surprise us. And if those Airport sets are for the City line, I am interested to see how they turn out. -darthperson (PS- Piglets FTW!!!!1 ) Quote

weelean Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 Hi allToday I found this list from Amazon.de, which I believe happen to be the 2010 City sets: Lego 7684 - City Ferkel-Gehege mit Traktor Lego 7206 - City Feuerwehr-Helikopter Lego 3178 - City Wasserflugzeug Lego 3177 - City Stadtflitzer Lego 3179 - City Reparaturwagen Lego 7213 - City Feuerwehr-Truck mit Löschboot Lego 3182 - City Großer Flughafen Lego 3180 - City Tanklaster Lego 7207 - City Feuerwehrschiff Lego 7208 - City Große Feuerwehr-Station Link Seems like its Fire and Airport again. My Godness~! Terminal "5" The major airports in the world has so many terminals together? Please...No fire station again. Released 10197 in Spetember 2009, January 2010 again? So many houses burned down in town? So many interesting topics in town, why do "fire", "police" repeat and repeat? Quote
The Green Brick Giant Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 This list also probably doesn't include exclusives, which I assume amazon.de doesn't normally get if their competitors are selling them. Yeah I completely forgot that the Farm sets were TRU exclusives. Quote
