I'm not too excited about the new sets (the truck from the fire helicopter set.... :hmpf_bad: ) but I must say that some of them are a must buy for me.

Let's just hope that the planes' wheels will have some kind of retraction feature.

What I don't get about the confidential pictures is that if they were meant to be "confidential" why are they in the public domain of toy shops? Obviously they aren't confidential any more.

I also hope we'll get another wave of City for the summer, but those release dates, some sets December/January (most Fire sets) and some in March (Airport and a Farm set), are the same as they were this year, so I have good hopes for some more City sets in the summer, like we had this year as well. :classic:

LEGO has always released at least two waves of CITY sets. I think Fire and Airport are both January sets, the Farm set and maybe the Impulse sets come out in March, and then the summer sets (hoping for Train or Zoo!).

Trains have been confirmed? Oooh! Outstanding. I hoping for something like the old Sante Fe sets...

As far as the new airport..eh, the plane looks like the old passenger plane. Why does Lego have to include the braces in the middle of those wings?? They work just fine without them. I did a mod of an Embraer 170 for my bro and it wouldn't cost Lego much more to do a plane like mine... I do love the tanker truck and I will get a few of those..

What is the confirmation? :sceptic::wacko::hmpf:

Legomilk wrote here that there'll be Trains in 2010.

And it's even very supposably since the last trains were in 2006 and the last non-exclusvie train set in 2007. So a new Train theme is highly supposably.

Btw:

Since the Pirates fans will get next January this awesome 10210 Imperial Flagship there is no chance that we'll see an exclusive City set before next summer. :cry_sad:

If we really got a new Trains theme in summer 2010 I then hope that the TRU Exclusive will be the Ciy Square and not the Public Transportation Center (although I'd very much like to get an elevated train). Reason: Train sets are always very expensive. If TLG releases two new train sets in summer I bet this means that we won't get any civilian buildings (such as a bank, a post office, a grocery, ...). So I hope that then the Exclusive will at least include some civlian buildings.

Please don't get me wrong: I really like the new Repair Vehicle, the Small Car is brilliant and so does the Piglets Enclosure - and the two Impulse sets surely will be great, too. But a whole year without any civilian building (apart from perhaps another winter house) would for me be really bad!

One very important fact is that he said City Trains.

This means we are very likely to see a Passenger type train and probably a cargo PF train

:oh:

I also hope we see some more track side structures with the trains.

Wait on I suppose....

Agreed, Klaus!

We need more civilian buildings. I don't want to get so desperate as to which I buy the Construction site set just to get another building for my town [the sad is that I almost bought it just for the building but the release of the Winter Toy Shop saved me $100.00 USD]! :cry_sad:

All in all, the 2010 city sets are very disappointing. Sure, we will get a few cool vehicles such as the Smart and the tanker, or maybe even the repair truck, but now the only structures we are getting are a pig pen (), lackluster airport, and an upgraded 7945 (:sadnew:) . :cry_sad:

I don't get why Lego releases so many vehicles for the CITY line yet so little actual buildings. Sure, the vehicles are great, but vehicles don't make up a town, structures do. We have cars, but cars are used to drive somewhere, yet our minifigures have nearly no buildings to go to.

If you ask me, the Road rescue line was a complete, utter failure. Private companies don't scope out traffic jams and disasters, the police do. [At least in the US they don't.] You don't transport helicopters on a semi truck unless they are unable to fly, and the motorcycle was just as useless. The Garage came with a lot of accessories, but it was open air and lacking good interior, specifically the office. The only decent set was the tow truck. :hmpf:

We are returning to 2006, I'm afraid.

By the way, all of the pictures of the 2010 CITY sets up to this point plus some new images can be view in this folder of my Brickshelf gallery.

I enlarged some of the preliminary images to 369x295 pixels for better viewing and sharpened them for better clarity. Enjoy! :classic:

Note: Some of the thumbnails appear to be distorted color-wise. This is because I made the white backgrounds transparent (I made it so that you cannot see it). Just click on them to see the non-distorted image. :sweet:

Thanks for the images Legoliner!

BTW the city advent calendar has been released in my local walmart. Sorry if this is old news.

Yeah, its old. Its been out for at least two weeks.

I updated the gallery- [When moderated] It is the largest gallery of 2010 CITY sets and includes every image that has existed on the internet of Lego City 2010 sets.

I must disagree with this. Last year LEGO released Medievel Market Village as an exclusive for the Castle line. Then not that much later they released the Emerald Night. I'm sure they will release at least two, probaly three exclusive 'city' sets next year (one will be a modular house).

I do. You see, LEGO CITY isn't made for Afols but for children. Children like to play with toys they can relate to. If you do a poll on how many kids want to be a fire fighter and how many want to be a barber (or any other 'civilian' function) you will find that most of them want to be a fire fighter.

You should be happy that TLC gives us a few civilian sets. But never expect them to donate you a whole line of civilian sets, because they never will.

There has been a Modular house released this year (the Fire Brigade), so I see no possibility of another.

Indeed, this year we won't see another. But I'm pretty sure we will in 2010.

I agree. Lego wants you to use your imangination, so don't expect them to make everything for you. Besides that's why "creator" makes houses that are compatible for city.

Creator sets have closed backwalls and look strange in a town full of facades. Plus they always have great exteriors, but very bad interiors, typically including only something redundant like a fireplace. :hmpf:

I have never seen one of those Garage (7642) sets off the shelf [missing] in my local TRU, and trust me, because I go there every week. Kids obviously don't want this set, because it is overpiced at $100.00 USD.

I just wish TLC went back to making every type of building imaginable- i.e. the heyday of Classic Town -.... Those were the days.

By whom?

Because I remember LEGO saying the same thing back in late 2007-2008 that they would be releasing new Train sets in 2009 and we got one insanely expensive set.

Do you Emerald Night? By no means is that set 'insanely expensive.'

I'd say that just about every set over $50 is on the expensive side and a purchase of that size requires consideration. Sure, there are sets more expensive than $100, but it's still definitely on the pricey side.

There may very well be a City exclusive in the springtime...

$100 for half a train that doesn't even run!

The "old" RC passenger train cost $80 and ran, sure it didn't have as many pieces, but for $80 you had a working train. This year to get a train to run it will cost you over $200 to make it run never mind the track. Also when LEGO goes "New Trains in summer 2009, I figured that meant stations, and rain crossings and such. The whole point of the new type of Train was for it to be cheaper than 9V, and LEGO had failed at that once again.

I just was browsing brickshelf and sa3 an image of the set with the pigs that's crystal clear.

Brickshelf.

If this has been posted before then i'm sorry but please don't denounce my find without looking at the link.

Very true, its about the most expensive train ever made by LEGO to get a working model

Emerald Night: $100

Power Functions & Track: $140 (there on sale right now for $130)

Total :$240

How "old" is "old"?

I think he means 7897 Passenger Train released in 2006 for $90

7897-1.jpg

Not bad if it weren't for all the batteries needed (11 or 12)

Most likely the 2010 Trains will be PF

I do hope we see an elevated Train or Monorail
