Rick Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 Yeah I completely forgot that the Farm sets were TRU exclusives. They weren't TRU exclusives in The Netherlands and I don't think they were in Germany either: probably only in North-America. Quote
bright22 Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 They weren't TRU exclusives in The Netherlands and I don't think they were in Germany either: probably only in North-America. I don't think so... that's market streagy... I believe Lego will sell those sets over the world, but we may need to buy in Shop@home ONLY. (But at the end, no one knows, cos I find it out, every exclusive sets can be buying anywhere later on......) Yes, I feel tired about fire series... especailly we'll have another fire station set coming out this year...... Quote
The Cobra Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 I think the tanker truck would be duplo hence the 3000 number I updated the Amazon list here. Duplo sets have Duplo in their name and 56## numbers. So these 31## might be System City sets. Quote
Matn Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 I'm looking forward to these sets. I haven't bought medium or big LEGO City sets in few years, the list sounds interesting. I own the fire station of 2005 (7240), but it's parted out. I was going to buy the new fire station, but the price was to high (imo). Maybe this new one will look better, although the one of last year looked pretty good. (Or I'll just get the modular Fire Station). I actually don't mind the high rate of firemen sets, it only means we have more choice! And in every line released there are always some really good sets, just like the fire engine set of 05 (7293). The airport sounds interesting, as I found the last one not that good, with the big planes and everything. Those piglets also sound very interesting! I really look forward to these and I hope they will be in the style of the BrickForge animals, but it will be probably fit with the new LEGO cow (detailed and childish, it's LEGO after all). Quote
marvinblue Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 Well, we still haven't seen a link yet to any of these sets. Not saying the list is wrong, but I'm still waiting on more proof before I get depressed."Stupid" because this list doesn't appeal to you or "stupid" because it won't appeal to kids? This list doesn't mean these are the only five city sets we're getting in 2010 (assuming the 31## sets are Duplo). And I understand why AFOLs wouldn't want more emergency sets, but let's face it. They're not going away. The current ones are a couple years old, and Lego has always recycled the theme to keep it fresh for kids. I agree with both you and Alywin. These repetitive sets are certainly very appealing for kids and I like Fire themes, but like Alywin, I am loving TLC's direction with City themes this year and really hope they continue on this line next year. The Green Brick Giant Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 personally, i welcome a new fire station as the last one sucked. Something more traditional, with maybe 3 bay doors would be cool. Two stories tall with a fire pole like the cafe' corner fire station set we got earlier this year. maybe even a hook and ladder truck. Also hoping that that tanker truck is an 8 wide semi truck with tanker trailer!! How was the last one not traditional? It had garage doors, and looked very much like the Fire Stations of old. How would a set with three garage doors be traditional when the normal is two? Also it seems you just want a Fire Station that is like the $150 one that will be released this year, just buy that one then. And the last one sucked to you, luckily most people didn't agree because it was the number one, non-license, selling set of 2006. Quote
5150 Lego Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 I agree, KD, calm down. Anyway, I like your idea of the fire station. A fire pole would be cool. But unfortunately, I think the tanker truck would be duplo hence the 3000 number Ya, you might be right about the duplo set. But there's nothing wrong with some wishful thinking. Edit: Seems the set number have been updated (thanks Cobra )So we might get that tanker in City after all! Now that i think about it, dual trailers would be sweet! Heck, has TLC ever produced a set with dual trailers? If LEGO wished to release 10 set of fire and airport sets, why not they release 10 set of creator house...Then I assume all of kids and their parents are willing to buy all......... Airport and fire are more intriguing to kids than the average house. and there have been several houses throughout the years. I don't see anyone complaining about them.... They weren't TRU exclusives in The Netherlands and I don't think they were in Germany either: probably only in North-America. The farm sets were only TRU exclusives for the first few months after their initial release. There after they were available be pretty much everywhere. That's usually how the TRU exclusives work. I work in the emergency vehicle industry. I'm around fire departments on a regular basis. What i mean by "Traditional" is two or three (preferably three) bay doors all next to each other, with the entrance on the side. Similar to how a garage is on the side of a house. The reason I'd like 3 bay doors is because its something TLC has not done before in any of there fire stations. A station with 3 bay doors is not uncommon. There's actually quite a few in my area with 4 bays. Also,i never stated that i preferred a station like the $150 one we got earlier this year. Just stated that a fire pole similar to that would be cool. And yes, your right. The last one sucked to me. To me it could have been better. I didn't like that the bays were on opposite sides of the main building. I didn't like that the Bays were on different sizes (i understand why, just looked funny). I thought the interior layout was poor. Was it one of the best selling of 06'?Sure. Its a fire station. Kids love fire stations. This is why TLC is releasing a new one for 2010'. This one will probably be one of the best selling for 2010'. Quote
Vaders_son Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 Actually I don't mind more firefighter sets too much, but I wont buy them as I'll stick with the modular one that is to be released this september. I really hope TLC keeps producing sets like city corner and other civil life sets, I love the new direction city is going atm! Benny Quote
Vestabuyer Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 Thank you very much for this list, Christian! I must say that I'm really, really disappointed about what TLG offers to us in the first half of 2010! Again a whole Fire theme and some Airport sets - that's a shame! Of course some of these sets won't look bad - but for what do we need again firemen and fire vehicles?! The only bright spot is the Enclosure Piglets With Tractor and perhaps the City Runabouts . At least they don't stop the Farm theme after one year. I'm really upset about what TLG is offering to us there! Last year they were asking their fan community (and so even us - do you remember the forms we should sent to Copmike?!) about which new themes they want for 2010. They asked for ideas which either have never been done or at least haven't been done in the last ten years. And now they release these themes they told us not to post as ideas again! Does TLG want to make fun of us?! Firstly asking tokenistic what we want whereas they already planned to release Fire and Airport again! I wasted hours and days thinking about which sets I'd like to see, wrote down these ideas with having to look up nearly every second word (because of my bad English) and now they show us that they even don't want to change what they have been doing for years - bringing back all that boring emergency sets again and again. A clear declaration fans made (you can read it in the presentation that was made by one of the people presentating the output of the forms to TLG) that we fans do not want more emergency sets but more everyday life sets. But what does TLG?! That is what I call the by TLG so often promoted "listening to the wishes of their fans"! This year is with tthe Farm theme in spring, the Town theme in summer, the Wind Turbine Transport and the Winter Toy Shop a real top year for Lego City fans like me! I hoped that TLG will continue the direction of releasing more civilian sets. But they do want ot bring back every time all that old boring emergency stuff! In total opposition to this year 2010 seems to become an absolute flop which concerns City! I'm really, really disappointed and angry that TLG is wasting its and ours time and money to only bring back what we already had hundreds of times!!! There could have been that awesome and really needful sets like a bank, a post office, a hotel, a family house and a grocery we all have mentioned in this survey last year and which we all want that much!!! :cry_sad: Bad job, TLG! I'm sorry for these unfriendly words - but it's really not without reason that I am very, very angry! Klaus-Dieter I am with you all the way on this issue. I too, would have loved to have seen a post office, hotel, or even a grocery store! I know the one bank that they made in the 80's is worth a fortune because no one bought it and the post office sets seem to be pretty scarce too. I have postal vehicles but no post office (short of building one myself). In all fairness, I hope TLG is just throwing out some "possible" sets for 2010 and that these aren't finalized. Are they? Svelte Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 Please don't be requoting the entirety of KD's post - that's twice on one page. A judiciously inserted *snip* in between the quote brackets would do the job just as well if you're replying to a specific point And no, these are not likely to be 'potential' sets since they have been listed on amazon.de Quote
Siegfried Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 Yes, Svelte is right. Please, unless you're directly replying to individual parts of a post (like 5150 Lego has been doing) don't quote it all. Just quote a sentence or two. Also, some people need to tone down on the smilies. Three in a row makes it look like it was posted by a 10 year old. On topic... Pigs! The neverending firestation releases don't bother me though; for one I expected it, and secondly I still haven't bought one! Quote
JCC1004 Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 My opinions: Lego 7684 - City-enclosure piglets with tractor Lego 3178 - City seaplane Color sceme? Lego 3177 - City city runabouts Sounds a little interesting. Lego 3179 - City car repair Smaller version garge? Service staion rehash? Lego 3182 - Big City Airport I always wanted an airport! Hopefully better then the last. Lego 3180 - City tank truck We have cargo trucks now a gas truck! Color sceme but be a turn off. Quote
Siegfried Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 My opinions: BTW, I think Sandy's right about the 3xxx sets being Duplo. Quote
mikey Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 BTW, I think Sandy's right about the 3xxx sets being Duplo. So good news then: a really interesting set with piglets to come soon. If the rest are (boring) Fire Department, this means there is plenty of space left for a variety of intresting sets to be released throughout the year.... Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 (edited) Sorry for my perhaps a bit too extremely emotional comment. But I was really upset and angry - and still am (but now I calmed down a bit) - when I saw that TLG (nearly) only comes back with Fire and Airport instead of releasing some awesome civilian sets. Now again a short comment to the (very supposable) January City sets: To the Fire Helicopter: Surely nothing spectacular - only a remake of the last version. To the Big Fire HQ: personally, i welcome a new fire station as the last one sucked. I think that this is only wishful thinking. Of course this might be - but three bay doors are imo totally excluded plus we surely won't get that a detailed interior like in 10197. I think that we'll get a small fire car, a big fire truck with ladder, two garages, a tower, an office, a bedroom and a relarecreation room. To the Fire Truck With Boat: It surely will be nearly the same like the one from 2005 - only without ladder since a fire truck with ladder will surely appear in the HQ. To the Fire Ship: This might be a good set if it is in the range about 40-50 Euros since so TLG could design it similar to the fire boats from around 1980-1990. If it's like the awesome fire ship from 1990, closed on all sides and with great interior then I perhaps will buy it. To the City Runabouts: It very suppoably will be a civilian car very similar to this year's sport car - but with a roof. I hope that it will include car doors and will come with a female civilian - then I surely would buy two copies of it! Klaus-Dieter Edited August 13, 2009 by Klaus-Dieter Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 To the second wave of City sets (very supposably March and April): To the Big Airport: It very supposably won't be a bad set. But I already own an airport and although this one is from the mid-ninetees it is big enough. Only look at the new airplanes - they are that big that you would already need a complete room only to build up a realistic airport with runways etc. and I don't own a villa abd surely even won't in my whole life. To the Tank Truck: It surely will be very, very big. And I own the awesome 10184 Town Plan in which a tank truck is already included. To the Waterplane: If it was a small set like the waterplanes from the ninetees it would be awesome! But I bet and fear that it'll be very similar to the completely oversized police waterplane from last year. To the Car Repair: I can't imagine that this will be an additional set to this year's garage since we already have got a two tow-trucks this year. So I think that it'll be a vehicle with stuff to repair planes. This might be good or bad - only pics will show. To the Piglets Enclosure With Tractor: This will be surely the best City set for the first half of 2010! I'm really glad to see that TLG doesn't end the awesome Farm theme after one year - although there could imo more new sets made than only one. I think that it'll include a green 16x16 basplates, some fences, a feeding trough, two or three piglets, a farmer and a tractor. If we've got much luck we even will get a hanger for the tractor, some fodder for the piglets and perhaps even a child - that would be awesome! I even hope that the tractor will be in green color. This is the only set of the first half of 2010 City sets that I'll buy for sure (without having seen pics of it yet) since it already sounds amazing! As for the summer sets: There surely will be mainly "only" train sets. Please don't understand me wrong - I really like trains. But civilian sets would be much more necessary. Perhaps we've got much luck and there'll be one additional Town set in summer - like they added an additional Farm set to the first half of 2010 when there's only Fire and Airport. As for exclusive sets: We already know that there'll be that fan's choice set in summer. It surely will be amazing - and I bet that it'll be an elevated train. Apart from that there'll perhaps be another winter set in fall (if the brilliant 10199 sells well - but I have absolutely no doubts that it won't) and perhaps another smaller exclusive City set (like this year's awesome 7747). Besides I see no chance that we'll get more exclusive Town or City sets. Klaus-Dieter Quote

Zzz Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 Too bad that the more interesting, civilian sets are 3xxx - they are definitely DUPLO. Would have loved to see a tank truck or the plane. Hope that the new tractor will be different from the current ones! Quote

Klaus-Dieter Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 While I am expecting just the bare bones for the new fire theme, there is still a possibility that we will see some civilians in these sets. If there is, say, a burning shop or a cat in a tree, it would definately improve the playability for kids, and the display possiblities for adults. Look at the Agents Robo Attack set- that included 3 superb new civilian figures, complete with new prints and pieces. Those were absolutely unecessary for Lego to include, but they did anyway. And with all the civilian sets for City 2009, it would be strange for them to abandon such a good thing. I partly agree with you, darthperson! I can't imagine that the fire truck with boat and the fire helicopter will include any civilian minifigs since there surely won't be included more than two minfigs in each set of them. But in the fire station set I could imagine one or two civilians. I remember that when browsing through old catalogues some years ago I saw a fire station from the 80s where a civilian woman was included, too. And the fire ship might include one, too, which shall be saved. So why not now, too?! Nevetheless I think that it is totally unrealistic to believe that the fire ship will include an addional boat or a small harbor building which shall be eliminated. Otherwise it would be an awesome set - just imagine a fire ship with two fire men, a captain, a small depot with a worker!!! Klaus-Dieter Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 (edited) I am amazed how 'sure' you can be about sets based on a list of setnames! [...] Just nitpicking, but here I assume you mean that you have "no doubts that it will" sell well. Of course I might be wrong, too, but when you think logically, compare with the sets of the last years and even classic City sets, think about how much the sets will cost and how many pieces and minifigs supposably will be included you can come to this result. And yes, you're right, I meant that I have absolutely no doubts that the awesome 10199 Winter Toy Shop will sell well! I really hope you are right about this.I will go into wintersleep now and wait for the next summer, I am already nervous about the new trains I bet that if the Public Transportation Center option was chosen as the fan's choice set it actually will include an elevated train (but no monorail!). Like Hinckley already mentioned some time ago, too many of us Lego fans would be angry if this choice won but we wouldn't get an elevated train since so many people (me of course included) would really like to get something similar to the awesome Airpot Shuttle set from the 90s. Btw: Does someone remember when we saw the first blurry pics of the first half of this year's City sets last year? Do you think we can await some pics next week? That would be great since I can't await to see how the Piglet Enclosure With Tractor, the City Runabouts and the Fire Boat will look like! Klaus-Dieter Edited August 14, 2009 by Klaus-Dieter Quote
aawsum Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 puzzled again I missed the point of Hinckley I guess, why would many of us Lego fans be angry if this choice won I understand that "we" want an elevated train, but I guess my interpretation of your sentence is not correct, so what do you mean with this sentence ? we wouldn't get an elevated train since so many people (me of course included) would really like to get something similar to the awesome Airpot Shuttle set from the 90s Quote
CDC Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 Maybe fire boat will be similar to last years' boat from coast guard line, that would be cool. Quote
jonwil Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 The full proof that the new Airport cannot be Duplo is the existence of the 5595 Airport that was only just released. Quote
