The full proof that the new Airport cannot be Duplo is the existence of the 5595 Airport that was only just released.

That was what I was thinking! Though, the round abouts still sounds pretty kiddish. :hmpf_bad::cry_sad:

____________

Why is alot of people ranting on Emeregency and (kinda) Airport? Fire was okay, I am hoping to get the station, since I don't have one. :classic: But, the rescue stuff was pretty good! I would like to see another hospital in Late 2010/2011.

What do you think the chances of us getting a Heavy Rescue or USAR type truck with the fire truck and boat set? I think it's be a nice variation to the standard pumper/ladder/battalion trucks that we get.

I agree it's disappointing that they're doing yet another fire station. Perhaps it's time Lego stretched the cycle to a new fire/police station every 5 to 6 years, as opposed to the 2 to 3 year cycle we currently have. Seriously, the gurus at Lego need to add a few more options to their list of City set ideas. Instead of focusing on such action-oriented sets, maybe they should include themes that kids can actually relate to, like going to a supermarket, or school? Of course, they'd probably feel compelled to add explosive devices to keep young boys interested (maybe a black market rather than a supermarket then...) On the ultra-bright, super-duper terrific side, I can now stop oogling Brick Forge pigs, whining all the while "why can't Lego make mini-fig scale pigs? Why???!" :cry_happy:

I work as Customer Service in a supermarket and I have yet to see a kid that's happy to be there. And school? When it comes to LEGO's core customers, these would sell terribly!

At least I bet that the ladder truck will be included in the HQ set.

So the truck with the fire boat surely won't have a ladder on its top.

I have to disagree with you, Yeow.

Real life and fantasy/playing are two totally different worlds.

Plus keep in mind that the children which play with Lego get younger and younger - and I don't think that the most of the six, seven and eight year old kids dislike school that much.

At some point "Run abouts" has turned into "Round about", which sounds really interesting! For a long time I've been wondering how to make a good round about (do I have to use landing way plates or some space road plates), it might be good to get an official one. Round abouts have been "a popular phenomenon" at least in Finland last ten years so why not in Lego City, too?

When you look on the first page of this topic you can see that the set will be no round about but a runabout.

It surely will be a set similar to this year's Sports Car - but supposably with a roof and without telephone box and tree.

I've just discovered my lack of knowledge in both the English and German language

Would someone care to explain what a runabout/Stadtflitzer is? Maybe show a picture too?

Thanks :classic:

No problem, Etzel. :classic:

A runabout is a small car to drive through the city in order to e. g. get to your place where you work or to go to the supermarket.

Like already mentioned I bet that it'll be more or less the same car as the Sports Car but in a different color and with roof.

I think LEGO saves the better City sets until the summer. The Coast guard sets were a summer theme, this year we got a whole bunch of different things, like the camper, tow truck and some buildings.

LEGO needs to do Trains for next summer, the problem is they got rid of 9V claiming it was too expensive for children only to be replaced with something that cost $100 even before you add the train! I'm love to have a train depot or something.

You're right, The Green Brick Giant: It was already stated that there'll be City trains this year. And since we already know the sets for the first and two wave of City sets only one wave is not known yet - and this will be Trains - which then will surely be released in June-September.

A train depot would be awesome :oh: - but I fear that TLG won't release one - at least no next year.

I have a theory about which sets we might see in summer 2010 (apart from the TRU Exclusive we already know):

either

a passenger train, a cargo train, a seperate train car and a cargo loading station

or

a passenger train, a cargo train and some additional Town buildings (e. g. grocery, bank, post, hotel, family house, ...)

At all events I think that we'll see the more additional train stuff - such as a train station and hopefully many more addtional train stuff like TLG offered until the late ninetees - firstly in summer 2011.

Sorry for my perhaps a bit too extremely emotional comment.

But I was really upset and angry - and still am (but now I calmed down a bit) - when I saw that TLG (nearly) only comes back with Fire and Airport instead of releasing some awesome civilian sets.

Klaus Dieter, i wouldn't hold out hope that we won't get a new theme soon. You have to remember that it was only this year that TLC asked for opinions of AFOL of what new theme's we'd like to see. Only A few months ago actually. So you can't expect for a decision to be made and sets to be designed in only a few months time. Many times its a year or even two (depending if new pieces are introduced) before new sets are made. So just be patient and give it some time.

What do you think the chances of us getting a Heavy Rescue or USAR type truck with the fire truck and boat set? I think it's be a nice variation to the standard pumper/ladder/battalion trucks that we get.

That would be really cool! Similar to the Coast Guard Truck and boat we received couple yrs ago.

Sorry, but a school and supermarket as much as you'd like to see, just would not sell well with kids. These might do well with AFOL, but not enough to be system type set. I know as a young boy i would passed by these sets if i saw them in the toy isle. Fire Stations and police stations (as well as those two themes in general) are Lego's most popular themes, and when the last fire Station was released it was the top seller for a non licensed theme. A 5 to 6yr cycle for these sets would not be a wise move on TLC's part.

One thing we all need to remember is that TLC holds test sec-ions with there target age groups for each theme to find out what they would be interested in seeing. I have no doubt that TLC has tested the waters with schools, banks, shops etc, but Its been found that police, fire and constructions sets always come out on top. We are not the target audience.

And a "Black market" set? That sells bombs and explosives?? Are you serious? Don't think that would go over well.

I must say that I'm really, really disappointed about what TLG offers to us in the first half of 2010! Again a whole Fire theme and some Airport sets - that's a shame!

I'm not that disappointed. My three year old cousin is HUGE on the firefighter theme( non-Lego) . By the time he is five, the current sets will be gone, but hopfuly not the the 2010 sets. I got hom liking Lego too! No **** ***** for him!

We haven't seen any pictures yet. Maybe you'll change your mind when you do.

As K-D said, the mix-up arises from the German > English translation, Stadtflitzer (Stadt = City; Flitzer is harder for me to translate, but it refers to speed, something like 'flasher') is almost certainly referring to a car.

That's not to say that I wouldn't welcome a roundabout, but as many others I would prefer the public transport exclusive.

I bet that the Public Transportation Center option will make it into the TRU Exclusive.

But imo it will much depend on which other sets we'll see in summer 2010: If we saw only train sets then it's very supposably that the City Square will make it. If we saw not only train sets in next year's summer but even some Town sets (like this year) then it's very supposably that the Public Transportation Center will make it.

I'm not that annoyed about more Fire sets, I can't wait to see them. :sweet:

Glad they're bringing airport back

Lego 7206 - City Fire Department helicopter

I'm hoping this'll be like the CG helicopter, or even like the Helicopter from the Helicopter Transport set :sweet:

Lego 3178 - City seaplane

Police sea plane with diffrent colour scheme? I wouldn't be suprised if that was the case. :hmpf:

Lego 3177 - City city runabouts

That TRU exclusive set we voted for?

Lego 3179 - City car repair

Like someone else said maybe a mini version? I wouldnt mind a smaller one. :sweet:

Lego 7213 - City fire fighting truck with boat

I'm guessing similar to the last pickup truck except with a boat? (Like a Fire version of that CG set with pickup truck & boat)

Lego 3182 - Big City Airport

So...Since this is Big City Airport will this be bigger then the last one?:wacko::look: Hopefully.

Lego 3180 - City tank truck

Octan maybe? I wouldnt mind one.

Lego 7207 - City Fire Department Boat

Hopefully better then the last few. :hmpf_bad:

Lego 7208 - Big City Fire Department Station

Everything is Big City now? So will this be BIGGER then the last one? :look::tongue:

Lego 7684 - City-enclosure piglets with tractor

Piglets - woo!

Hmm...Am I the only one with an idea for a bacon factory?:devil:

Nope, that 'runabout' is a weird translation from German:

For everyone who wants a Fire Station with a pole...

http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=7240-1

I'm guessing similar to the last pickup truck except with a boat? (Like a Fire version of that CG set with pickup truck & boat)

I'm hoping it's not otherwise it will be this...

with the back of this....

Oh sorry didn't see that post. So this sounds like some sort of sports car. :sweet:

They should do a set with a Police car, speed camera & a sports car like a chase set.

When I read "Fire Truck with boat" Thats exactly what I imagined at first. But I think they'll atleast add some diffrent parts to make it look new (like the cg pickup truck with boat)

Would "Stadtflitzer" have to have anything to do with a "Flitzerblitzer?" (Germans know what I am referring to). If so, that means it is basically a speed trap that involves a radar activated high speed camera to take a nice snapshot of your car's license plate for point deduction on your German federal driving record and as well as for mailing purposes of your new speeding fine. "Flitzerblitzer" means basically a flash camera speed trap.

So in lame mans terms, a speed trap that mails you the bill along with a nice picture of you speeding in your car. Great for posterity's sake! They can be mobile as in a car with cameras in side that is just underway with the rest of the traffic or parked and pointed in a certain direction (IE on a sharp curve, or overlooking the lanes of the Autobahn from an overpass). A fixed position speed trap is called a "Blitzbox" which is a box containing the camera mounted on a pole at some place. (note: Not every box has a camera in it at all times... So watch out!). Thats it in a nutshell.

If not, then I have no clue what the set might be.

I think they're in most western countries. (called "Speed cameras" ) Same here they're either in cars and on the highways theres lots too, I wouldnt mind a set like this. (A sports car, speed camera + road plate ?)

That's a great idea, Darth_Legois!

Regrettably I don't think that TLG is planing this idea for the set called 3177 Runabout.

Why don't you post it here?!
