Nice little house, I look forward to a close-up of the interior. That white jumper certainly fits a child better than an adult (re: Small Car)

Does anybody know what the red thing on the porch immediately to the left of the door is?

Could it be a reclining chair?

In regards to the Lego truck (3221), the doors on the trailer are prototypical. on real semi trailers that have doors on the sides, the side doors are not the full height of the trailer. this is mostly the case on food service delivery trucks I believe.

The new house definitely looks like a perfect addition to ANY town/city layout.

Nice to see that it appears to be built on a 16x32 baseplate. I love the amount of details that are present - both inside and out.

Thanks for that great picture of the city house

Yes the solar panels are amazing  It is a rare case of something does not need to be place there to be nice. The house would have been fine without the solar panels but the inclusion of them is nice. :classic: They also could have uses for other themes like Space as well.

However they are probably just stickers :sadnew:

And another good thing is the figure of the left side of the box has the hoodie torso that the figure from the small car does.

Now I don't need to buy that small car just to get the torso, it comes with this set

Also nice is that we get a semi large base plate included for the first time in a set for awhile.

Anyone else thinking about buying two of these and putting them back to back? I wish I had done that for the Winter Toy Shop so it would've blended in more with the modular sets.

Thank you very much for this new and clear picture of the City House, Bachus! :classic:

Wow, Lego is definitely going green now: Either this is a photo-voltaic plate or a warm water solar panel.

Way to go!

(and it's open to the back, Klaus-Dieter will be delighted.)

Completely right, Holodoc! How did you know?

This family house looks simply    !

The architectual design of the house looks brilliant, the minifigs are great (apart from that there should be one more child), the photo-voltaic plate/solar panel is a great addition, the small tree house is beautiful and the interior looks amazing. The green dustbin, the barbecue, the mailbox, the terrace with the sun chair and the street lamp are nice additions.

Which I can detect for the interior:

-first floor: sink, baking oven with pot on it and table with one (two?) chair(s)

-second floor: sleeping room with bed, bed table with lamp and small tabe with computer and chair

-third floor: child's room with small bed, bed table with lamp (something more?)

I can't await to get this awesome set! It's a perfect and really overdue addition to our cities!

Btw: According to (supposably) the same website where Bachus found this picture, the City House willl be 39,95 Euros - imo a good price ratio performance.

Any sign of 8404 yet?

Although we're eagerly awaiting pics (or at least a description etc.) of this set, there haven't been any hints til now.

But since some time back it was somewhere mentioned that it shall be released in June (which would make sense since the Mon Calamari Cruiser (which was a TRU fan's choice set, too) was released in June, too), I think and hope that we'll get some information or/and pics soon.

Btw: It's strange that in this year's April there was no poll for voting for a fan's choice set (equally of which Lego theme). Or did I miss something?

Wow! Now you can save that money for an vacation instead!

Btw, as mention before, good looking house. City is back!

The set is just marvellous.

I can feel quite a big difference between it and let's say Creator Houses not mentionning Modular buildings but still this one is great. It's not that large and wide yet it will fit to any LEGO CITY/TOWN scene. I'd rather seen it thicker, I'd say but I understand that it's scaled just as Fire stations or Police headquarters.

I wonder how costly it will be.

According to Brickshop.nl

The same webshop also has a short description of 8404. For what it's worth:

Deze LEGO set werd gekozen uit 3 prachtige voorstellen door de allergrootste LEGO fans. Deze set bevat een tram, bus, auto, fiets, vrachtwagen en veel minifiguren!

"This LEGO set was chosen out of three proposals by the biggest LEGO fans. This set contains a tram, bus, car, bicycle, truck and lots of minifigures!"

If so, then it should be numbered as 10XXX.

TRAM!!!

This is a dream come true! :cry_happy:

Now I really wonder what kind of tram they could have designed... the previous discussions in this very thread about the difficulty of releasing a tram set with the tracks not fitting on the road plates still hold true. Unless it's a trackless tram (a la Toy Story train set) or a set without road plates altogether, so that the trouble of making the tram fit our city becomes ours to solve!

If so, then it should be numbered as 10XXX.

Why so?

PS: Brickshop.nl has an expected delivery date of 1st October 2010 for set 8404.

Why so?

Several reasons.

1. Size of the set.

2. Quantity of modules.

3. Number of minifigs. Now, there's a kind of standard of not giving more than 5 minifigs per set (with an exception of 7744).

As described, this Public transportation center reminds me to some extent of 10184...

Only the exclusive Lego Store/Shop at Home sets are given 10xxx set numbers, and as far as I know this is not going to be a Lego exclusive. The criteria you mention are not indicative of an exclusive set.

Not to mention that we don't know for sure the number of minifigs. 'Lots of minifigures' is very a very subjective statement, 5 minifigs could still be considered a lot from a merchandising point of view.

It looks like a mailbox to me.

The new set looks great! Is this going to be a 2011 release?

In Russia, 10184 for example was available everywhere.

I justed wanted to show that for a CITY set this is too big. Normally, the number of pieces doesn't exceed 1000 and I've already said about minifigs. Here, as I can understand, there well be smth in the neighbourhoof of 2000 pieces.

Well, that's a turn up for the books I didn't see comming - it's a multipurpose set - different modes of land transport from simple cycling to transporting goods to electrified light rail - now we only need to see photos.

What is really odd, is that a bicycle could be found in a city square, a truck of course at a truck stop and well, a tram is basic mode of public transport - this appears to contain elements to some point of all three themes that were voted on last year.

I'm a conformist! everyone ! :sweet:

Thank you very much for this information, Rick! :classic:

Finally some hints of which 8404 will exactly be!

I wonder what a car and a truck have to do with public transport. Well, never mind.

Many minifigs:

Nothing preferably than that! Minifigs awake your cities to life - so you can never get enough of them! Do you think, too, that there'll be the new torsos of the stewardess, the female included in the new Creator set, the male included in the advent calendar and the boy with the hoodie included? I'd go for eight minifigs: bus driver, tram driver, cycler, car driver, truck driver, woman, boy and girl.

Bicycle:

Another bicycle is really not wrong - hopefully it'll be this time not in red.

Car:

It's good to get another car - hopefully it'll be this time with roof and car doors.

Bus:

It's great to get another bus - hopefully it'll be exactly the same design like the one in 7641 but in a different color.

Truck:

Another truck?! We already get two (til three this year)! Do you think that it'll be a green-white truck with the cargo sign on it (looking very similar to the truck in the picture of the truck stop in the poll)?

Tram:

I bet that the design of the tram will be very similar to the one in the poll picture. At least I'd say that it is hundred percent sure that it won't be in red color since already this year's Passenger Train will be red. And it's even very supposably that it regrettably won't include any doors since the Passenger Train regrettably doesn't include any doors, too. I bet that it'll consist of two parts.

electrified light rail

As for how it'll be running: Although it will surely be getting very difficult to place some tracks on your baseplates, I hope that it runs on 4 or 6 studs wide tracks - and not with hidden wheels. About two things I'm really sure - namely that if it would run on tracks, there won't be some included and that it won't include any motor and other PF stuff (otherwise only the tram with tracks and PF stuff would already be a price near to the Passenger Train - and I think that the whole set won't be more than 150 Euros).

The only bad thing is that there won't be a snack bar or a kiosk included - otherwise the description would surely have advertised this.

The only thing I wonder is: Won't there be some small stops (at least two) for the tram and the bus included? If there won't be some, that would be bad.

All in all I must say that this might get an excellent set!

The only bad news is that - since it firstly will be released in October - it's excluded that we'll get a new Winter set this year. :cry_sad:

I can't await to see some pics! But since it firstly will be released in Octobhttp://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=32210&st=1695#er, I fear that we won't see any pics before August. Does someone think that it might be shown at Brickworld?

@8403: Thanks for the pic. It looks really great. I'm wondering how much it'll be.

@8404: I'm pretty excited about the tram and what rails it'll run on. The usual RC tracks or different tracks?

It's good that my brother is selling old model railway tracks and Playmobil sets on eBay. I need the space that is going to become free for all the LEGO sets that are going to be released soon!

Totally agree. I hope Lego will break this a bit stupid rule of providing 5 minifigs at most.

Bicycle:

Another bicycle is really not wrong - hopefully it'll be this time not in red.

I hope it would be yellow as it was in # 6420 that I have. Or black is was common for the 90s!

Car:

It's good to get another car - hopefully it'll be this time with roof and car doors.

It sounds as if the cars with doors and roof haven't been for a long time. :) I hope it will be a sedan.

Bus:

It's great to get another bus - hopefully it'll be exactly the same design like the one in 7641 but in a different color.

Here I do really hope it will be of the same livery but will be ARTICULATED.

Truck:

Another truck?! We already get two (til three this year)! Do you think that it'll be a green-white truck with the cargo sign on it (looking very similar to the truck in the picture of the truck stop in the poll)?

Maybe it will be a garbage truck or a delivery truck for a small Restaurant aside?

I don't think it can't be red. Why not? A tram is not a train especially if we talk about a PCC and not an articulated tram.

Probably it would be able to run on rail and I agree the rails won't be included for the reason of pricing...

However, who said rails shouls be definitely put on plates like 16x32 or 32x32? They may be situated on smaller plates just aside.

The only bad thing is that there won't be a snack bar or a kiosk included - otherwise the description would surely have advertised this.

I am prettu sure there would be some of this stuff. The point of not telling about that is that the set is transport-oriented ;)

The only thing I wonder is: Won't there be some small stops (at least two) for the tram and the bus included? If there won't be some, that would be bad.

There should be since this is a public transportation CENTER but not a set of "tram+bus+bike+car+truck" ;)

All in all I must say that this might get an excellent set!

Yeah, right you are!
