ZeeK Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 Let me be kind of retrograde person... The brand-new 7937 Train Station has not gone too far from this: set #7822 released in 1980. So thirty years proved very little progress with train stations... Quote
ILikePi Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 (edited) Wow, these sets look great! I won't be buying them, but I do love the stuff each set has, like clocks, waste baskets (trash cans would've been better though), a train signal and a newspaper (pinned to the wall) on the first two sets, and how the Cargo Train set has two more smart cars. The only thing I think is really odd is the head choice for the female minifigs; the one in the Train Station set has one that looks like a male's face, and the one in the Passenger Train set has one that looks just plain creepy with the combination of Irina Spalko hair and that tank top. The latter one looks like a guy dressed as a woman Thanks, grogall! Edited May 7, 2010 by ILikePi Quote
The Green Brick Giant Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 These sets can be seen better on shelves ... OK that means they should have prices, anyone know them? Quote
daoudbazaar Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 OK that means they should have prices, anyone know them? As far as I can remember 7937 Train Station : ~ 45 EUR 7938 Passenger Train : ~ 120 EUR and 7936 was around 35 EUR Quote
lightningtiger Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 Thank you 'grogall' - Oh goodie, cargo train - SWEET - SICK - AWESOME ! In fact I'll get my son the crossing and station for his older 2007 train set, finally rig that up then. The details on everything are popping out like mad - haha new truck in town - funny Lego very funny ! Now I just need these in the shops - dam August, or maybe we Aussie's might get lucky and score these as an exclusive through one of the main retail chains for their mid-year monster toy sales ! I'm a conformist! everyone ! Quote
Piranha Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 Whoa thanks Grogall  Those are some very awesome pics, and what else can I say besides I love them all  Now I have to see the TRU Transport center set to decide what to buy. Btw, shouldn't those pics have been in the 2010 Trains topic over in Train Tech? daoudbazaar did you take those pics yourself?? and if yes how come you didn't buy any of them Quote
ZO6 Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 Why do you think these 1x2 bricks with holes are there? Perhaps to attach the TRU exclusive to? Or to mirror this train station and join the two together? Or simply because TLC is using these bricks with holes in them in this set instead normal 1x2 bricks? Edit - Actually, I'll bet it's so that you can detach the little shop and place it at the opposite side. Quote

Ah, I see your logic 'ZO6' about the TRU exclusive attaching as in that image of public transport we voted on last year shows train running parallel to a tram. I also guess those tech bricks could mean you can join two train stations side by side for a double track set up. I'm a conformist! everyone ! Quote
The Cobra Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 OK that means they should have prices, anyone know them? Back in January, I wrote: Prices from an Italian online store:7936 Level Crossing = 16.99 7937 Train Station = 39.99 7938 Passenger Train = 102.99 7939 Cargo Train = 164.99 Sets were then taken off that site (as any other upcoming set available from March to the end of the year) Quote
dartmar Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 Let me be kind of retrograde person...The brand-new 7937 Train Station has not gone too far from this: set #7822 released in 1980. So thirty years proved very little progress with train stations... My thoughts exactly when I saw this new train station. Reminded me off my old trainsstation (7822) laying somewhere in the boxes of lego scattered around the house. Quote
Lord Arjay Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 Thanks for the picks grogall! Wow all of those sets are amazing. It's good to see the smart car managed to pop up in the caro train set. I cannot wait until the first reviews of these appear! Quote
Ferdik Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 (edited) It would be pretty dangerous to use the stairs in the new triain station, specially with heavy bags. But I'm not a minifig, they can do anything. Edited May 8, 2010 by Ferdik Quote

So thirty years proved very little progress with train stations... Perhaps that's because real train stations haven't changed all that much. Seriously, anyhow, LEGO isn't obligated to restrict themselves to only one depiction of any given structure. Especially when the last depiction of that sort of train station was 30 years ago. Quote
legokitty Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 So is it a rechargeable battery that comes with the trains or is that just a new battery box for AA's? Does not seem like you could fit 6 AA batteries in that little box. Quote

gunm Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 I totally want that cargo train! The refreshed train station and passenger train are also very nice. Rats, I want them all! Quote

Closer and better pictures reveal that is in fact a new type of battery-box, which houses six AAA-batteries. Quote

ACCURATEin Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 Those are some super duper high res pics! Thanks for posting those. Quote
Princess Storm Posted May 8, 2010 Posted May 8, 2010 I hate to be pedantic, but is there any point in the train station having a bridge, when there's only one track? I mean, of course it's easy to mod it so that the bridge is longer and has two tracks under it, but couldn't TLG just have done that? Quote

I can't be 100% sure of the 30 year progress of real train stations since i'm 30 :) However, there are things i like in old set and not like in the new one: the length of the platform - was 48. now 34 the stairs design the design of the fences of the air travel nice touche like stairs fo maintanance of thу railtrack the design of the stairs support lampposts Obviously, this reveals i'm not the target group for this set... Moreover the overall shape and design of the old set look more realistic than the new flashy ones (I'm not generally nostalgic of old 80's city sets, but here I am). alex54 Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 Well, I'ma bit late, I know, but with all those new city sets and pics, it seems that TLC uses that head too much for me... I've got it in the latest firestation and it's in the new LEGO truck and in the new cargo train. Am I the only one who find this head horrible? It's the worst city head ever made (with Harry Potter's uncle, also uses in the city line)! When you look at it quickly, you don't see the glasses, but more two big eyes! And the mouth is not great too! I like new heads for diversity, for sure, but not with such heads! Back on topic... I dont' find the passenger train very nice, because of the difference between the curved pieces from the roof and the edges made buy the build brick front... Not that great IMO! But the cargo train is really really great! I like it and will buy it for sure! The color scheme is very cool and different to the last two green trains. And we have some nice wagons, two small cars and one crane. We never have enought of those great adds! Quote
