lightningtiger Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 Well, I'ma bit late, I know, but with all those new city sets and pics, it seems that TLC uses that head too much for me... I've got it in the latest firestation and it's in the new LEGO truck and in the new cargo train. I just checked Bricklink, that head comes in the fire copter and 4x4 set 7206, not the new fire station, 35+ sets, yeah they need a new printed face on them. I'm a conformist! ! Quote

Maybe you can find it in the fire copter and the 4x4 too (I don't know because I don't have bought those sets). But IT IS in the new firestation, because I've got it in this set... Quote

It could actually be this head........ or this head................................. They are the only ones in the new fire station, that' what BL says. Could it be Lego screwed up and packed the wrong head, has anyone else seen this sort of thing before ? I'm a conformist! ! Quote

Of course the two heads that you shown are in the firestation 7908, but they are not the only ones, because there are 4 minifigs... You can cleraly them on the s@h website in the zoom section of the set, and you will see that I'm right and TLC didn't packed me a wrong head. BL is a tool, not always the exact true Quote
jonwil Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 Bricklink shows that the set includes http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?M=cty056 which has this head: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=3626bpb331 The airport also has this head. The helicopter and limo and fire helicopter do not contain this head, they contain different glasses heads. Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 Thank you very much for these detailed and clear pics, Grogall! Only to give a very short comment (since I'm very busy at the moment): All in all the new Train sets are really awesome! But the main con is that they don't include the rechargeable battery. Holodoc Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 Am I the only one who find this head horrible? It's the worst city head ever made (with Harry Potter's uncle, also uses in the city line)! I completely agree with your arguments, Alex! This is really the most horrible head I've seen (in town) for quite some years. Shall we start another campaign? Like "LEGO stop using stupid heads?" Quote
Aanchir Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 It's not my favorite head, but I don't mind it that much. After all, it's nice to have some variety among minifig glasses. Quote
Piranha Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 well I like that head..... j/k More diversity among heads, yes and torsos too, esp for city Quote
lightningtiger Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 I was looking closely at the new train station and noticed some odd things. 1. Is the lack of handrails going up and down the cross-over bridge, I guess it would not be that hard to MOD - use roughly the same techique as in the crappy red/white hospital stair case. 2. The floodlights are TOO LOW, a minifig is either going to hit their head or be blinded by the light, again easy MODing without making it look out of place. 3. No step for the sliding door rail, just go from a trip......just don't forget to send a card ! What do you all think, can't wait to see the first reviews ! I'm a conformist! everyone ! Quote
Noworries Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 can't wait to see the first reviews ! Cant wait to GET MY HANDS ON IT! Will buy all four at once. Release 'em now TLG *gettinginsane* Quote

Hasn't that been exisiting for decades now that TLG is doing stairs without railings? I personally don't care that much about that. 2. I totally agree with you in this point, lightningtiger! Why didn't TLG design the lights taller?! 3. I think it's only one thin flat brick - so this one is needed anyway. Whether you add one additional or not doesn't matter since there still is a step for the minifigs they have to go up and down. Which disturbs me really when looking at the train station is: 1. The taxi includes no car doors (even though they could easily have been added - even with stickers). 2. The building is much, much too small. Otherwise it's imo a great set! I, too, can't wait to see reviews of these sets. I'd of course even like to buy them - but that'll depend on my budget (the City Public Transport and the TRU Truck/Truck Stop? are first priority). lightningtiger Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 You are right about the taxi 'Klaus', why didn't they put doors on it ? Yeah, I'll still buy one for my son's train set anyway. Now are we still expecting two or more city TRU exclusives ? I'm a conformist! ! Quote
BorgShadow Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 Here's the happy snap of the 8404 Lego set... (Ooops sorry the pic was too large) Here's the link to itLego set 8404 Enjoy Quote
Fugazi Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 (edited) Here's the happy snap of the 8404 Lego set...(Ooops sorry the pic was too large) Here's the link to itLego set 8404 Enjoy Wow thanks for the pic BorgShadow! Very interesting indeed. A few quick comments: Great looking intercity bus/coach Tram is a bit short, but could easily be modified. Seems to ride on hidden wheels though, as there are no tracks provided. Nice little extras, like the bus stop, car and sweeper truck, but nothing really that we couldn't do without. Green bicycle! 6 minifigs, perhaps some new torsoes? Again the light blue/white silly jumper The tram is the big selling point here -- for me at least! One more thing: The brick-built design of the tram is terrific, but it's more than time to come up with some sort of sliding doors TLC, because regular opening doors look SILLY on a tram! Rick Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 Thanks for the picture. I just checked the site the other day. It wasn't there yet. The coach looks nice and the tram indeed is a little short, but the big downside of both indeed have to be the doors. Looks like many people's hunches that there wouldn't be track included are proven true. I'm wondering about the coupling of the tram. I really like the utility vehicle included. The stops/stations look a bit simple though and quite hard to integrate into a layout. The guy/gal with the green bike has Dastan hair. Quote
Zorbas Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 THAT'S the LEGO City-Town philosophy I love! A great thanks for the link BorgShadow! I'll get into detailed comments later. Quote
jonwil Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 If you look at the picture it looks like there is not one but TWO bicycles, if you look at the girl with the bicycle, then look at the blue piece behind her you can see what looks to me like another bike behind that. If you look at the big map sign near the red mailbox, that map sign sticker looks like its one of the windows from the bus in either clear or white (its hard to tell from the picture). I hope TLG puts the green torso from the guy at the bus stop into a small set, I would love about 5 of them :) Decent civilian torsos suitable for everyday causal wear are hard to get (and usually require the purchase of expensive sets) Those that come in the smaller sets seem to be the same one over and over rather than introducing any of the newer and/or cooler ones. The downside is that with all this stuff, its likely to cost more than the garage or police station or airport did :( Especially if its a TRU exclusive in Australia (TRU is normally the last place I go for LEGO due to their high prices compared to other shops) Quote
Joebot Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 Here's the happy snap of the 8404 Lego set...(Ooops sorry the pic was too large) Here's the link to itLego set 8404 Enjoy Wow, nice find!! We've been waiting for this picture for ages! Bummer on no track for the tram. Serious, serious bummer. Overall, the set seems like a hodge-podge of a bunch of smaller sets that they grouped together into a big box. It needs a single larger building to pull it all together and give it some cohesion. The designs of the individual vehicles look very nice, but as a whole, it feels a bit haphazard. Anyway, I guess I'm just nitpicking. I really do like that tram. That's a fun new vehicle that Lego has never made before. But ... no track?? Really??? Sigh ... Quote
bright22 Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 I love the coach... however I saw similar MOC version in Hong Kong Legofans website. The lightrail looks good too.. however.. seems the track is missing out. If I have enough budget, I may buy 2 or 3 sets... (1 for collecting items) Quote
lightningtiger Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 It's finally &^**&%%Y^ here ! Now what my son thinks.....he said on seeing the picture of the box art.........I like the blue tram and the big green bus. He is 10, and is the intended market this was aimed at. Now for me - simply I WANT IT !!!!!!!! Tomorrow I putting a call in TRU Sydney and asking for sure what the deal is. The tram and bus stops are great and a totally realistic street sweeper and another 4 wide sports car - COOL ! I want to know what 'Klaus-Dieter' thinks ? I'm a conformist! everyone ! Quote
Cwetqo Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 Nice vehicles, but you are right, there should be on large building containing all of these, with one or two baseplates. One one side coud be technic brikcs for connection wit train station, in the middle bus top with spaces for busses and on other side station for tram. I will probably not be getting it (I have one bus stop from city corner, I will get similar one in in train station and that should be enough, I dont need three more) Quote
danim Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 love the tram and the coach, like the new street sweeper and the new car, also glad to see the bike in different colours also the guy at the bus stop looks like he has a new torso not sure about the shop though, looks like it has been thrown in for good measure Quote
jonwil Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 That green torso is also in this years Advent calendar AFAIK. Quote
