lightningtiger Posted June 26, 2010 Posted June 26, 2010 TRU are on a winner maybe, it's already SOLD OUT , it was available last night South Aussie time, but now sold out - dam it could happen with their truck in Oz too and theres no layby at TRU Oz stores ! Unless someone at TRU website screwed up and posted it on their site too early. Anyway, I'm a conformist! ! Quote
jmadd58 Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 Ok grogall, you've convinced me. I'm going to have to save my pocket and ask for more shifts at my job so I can buy these. They just look simply brilliant. Quote
whung Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 Larger box images of 8403 and 8404, from the same source. It's noted that 8403 is a Special Edition this time! Quote
just2good Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 Larger box images of 8403 and 8404, from the same source. It's noted that 8403 is a Special Edition this time! Yay! That tells that it's gonna be a Target exclusive in the US! Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 (edited) Thank you very much for these high-res pics, grogall and whung! I'll comment precistely on 8404 and 7848 later when we'll get reviews of them. Only shortly: 8404 is above average (vehicle are outstanding, road structures are below average) and 7848 is outstanding (esp. because of the birlliant interior of the TRU shop). GovernmentGuy Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 (edited) Thank you Grogall! I am wondering how you got these High-res Pictures~ Edited June 27, 2010 by GovernmentGuy Quote
Freddie Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 The only real complaint I have about 8404 is the price. Other than that I am psyched that the tram and bus share their colors with the trams and regional buses Oslo uses. Other than that both 8403 and 8404 look like genuinly good sets, with a classic sort of aura around them. Quote
ACCURATEin Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 I might go browse the LEGO aisle in toysrus just to see if the truck is in stock. All the trans black windows in windscreens in 8404 is making me giddy. Quote
Izy Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 Thanks for the update! the 8404 set is going to be great!! Quote
Night City Dream Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 Large High Res pictures of the 2 new city sets The bkue and white female minifig looks quite strange with this typically male man. Probably, it is a man like Adrian Paul? :) P.S. The first-half-of-the-year special edition is 7206, isn't it? Or is it 7213? Quote
Mr. Elijah Timms Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 (edited) For those of you in the US-- Brickset is reporting a 50% BOGO at TRU (In-Store only)!!! Crunch time, people-- Decisions, decisions!!! I can spend $155USD and get the Airport and the Construction Site... OR I can spend $125 and get the Airport and the Passenger Plane... They're also running 25% Off all Clearance Items... So for $52USD, you can officially buy the Farm!! (The set, not the eternal fate) Edited June 27, 2010 by Mr. Elijah Timms Quote
Mr Hobbles Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 Do I spy train wheels on the bottom of the tram? Quote
Holodoc Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 Do we have a picture of the rear of the coach from the public transport set anywhere yet? I found this at 1000steine.de from their annual meeting (1000 Steine Land) where the new set was presented: Quote
Night City Dream Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 I'm getting more and more sure that the tram is just a bit longer than a coach. And what we can see on the box? The tram looks like 2 times as much longer as the coach. Quote
lightningtiger Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 Do I spy train wheels on the bottom of the tram? Yes, you do - me happy too ! Thanks for extra picture there 'Holodoc' - by the looks of it their is quite a few instruction bookets in that set - according to the mid-year catalogue from Lego it's slated for September release still - can't wait to then - but I'll have too. Still how much people think the wheels on either the car or bus don't look right, too big on the car and too small on the bus eh ? I'm a conformist! ! Quote
Fugazi Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 I'm getting more and more sure that the tram is just a bit longer than a coach. And what we can see on the box? The tram looks like 2 times as much longer as the coach. I'd say 43 studs (tram) vs 28 (coach) roughly counted. I would certainly want to add some length to the tram if I buy it. Too bad the price will probably discourage me from buying two sets and building a long tram out of two short ones. Still how much people think the wheels on either the car or bus don't look right, too big on the car and too small on the bus eh ? Definitely agree with you on that. Add another MOD to the list! Quote
Night City Dream Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 To me, the size of the wheels for the bus is ok, but for the car is terribly huge. Quote
Fugazi Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 Do I spy train wheels on the bottom of the tram? Certainly looks like it! I wonder if the gauge (width) will match the regular train tracks? Quote
Night City Dream Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 How come did you count 43 studs for the tram's length? The middle car is 8 stud long, the side cars are 12-stud longs. The gaps in between, say, are 2 studs. So, we get 32 studs. Now we add a bit from the front and from the back, +3 and +3, ok 42 is possible. Now, the coach. I see 5 (!) windows 4x4, which makes 20 studs. Then after the window line on the back we see 3 studs, right? Let's proceed to the front where we find a 4-stud door and 2 more studs for the windscreen construction. It totlas then 29 studs. Not bad, a bit shorter than a baseplate! Quote

Well I counted quickly so I probably missed a stud here and there. This makes the tram roughly half longer than the coach, which is not realistic but visually acceptable considering this is just Lego. What about the bus from City Corner? Is it shorter than the coach? Quote
Night City Dream Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 Yeah, it is way shorter. Maybe, the coach is 15-meter long, but if so it would have had 6 wheels. Quote
lightningtiger Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 When has Lego ever worried about being in correct proportion to real life, cars, helicopters, planes, buildings and now buses ? Plus I do beleive the tram will fit the regular train track, which makes life a little easier to intergrate this into a city landscape. Now the two semi's look totally out of proportion to everything else, man see at as a b-train or roadtrain, OMG it might be longer than the new cargo train ! Anyway I'm a conformist! everyone ! Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 Wow, those are lovely sets! Thanks again grogall for sharing! The City Transport set is definiely a must-have, great vehicles and a decent amount of minifigs. Quote
Hey75 Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 Wow really love those , don't know when i can get my hand working on it. Quote
