YG-49 Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 I just realized - The Army Men have green hands. Quote
squidman85 Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 Are in the set "Woody's Round Up!" - pop-up function, like in the Western sets(with the dynamite)? Quote
yellost Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 The "water" on the wedges and back look great! Man , I hope those wedges are printed, because if they are stickers, they're gonna be hell to apply correctly... That starship Command ship looks really fantastic... That's one definite buy for me Quote
Oky Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 Are in the set "Woody's Round Up!" - pop-up function, like in the Western sets(with the dynamite)? No, it doesn't have the same mechanism. How do I know that? Because the dynamite in this set is the new mold, not the printed 1x2 tiles which were the key for the mechanism in the old Western sets. However, there is a knob on the side of the jail, so there seems to be some other kind of mechanism to blow off the wall. Quote
mtMOClug Posted October 24, 2009 Posted October 24, 2009 Hasn't anyone been just a little curious as to what the 7597 Western Train is going to look like? I was... extremely interested... so I went digging. In the official movie trailer near the beginning you can see scattered on the floor a steam train. You'll need Quick Time installed to view it. I decided to take a screen cap for easy reference. It looks like it may be built from LEGO in the pic... but it's a little fuzzy to tell and at this point I don't want to speculate a whole lot. There are some interesting details though... large RED wheels on the locomotive... so we'll have some MOC'ing options. Also, 4 sets of wheels instead on each unit instead of 2 which I was fearing. Quote
-The Hyphen- Posted October 24, 2009 Posted October 24, 2009 I just watched the trailer. Did anyone else notice the Tinkertoy built rail bridge Andy apparently drove the train off of? It's kind of hard to tell from the screengrab, but those do look like Lego train wheels. Seems like an interesting strategy. Put a Lego set in the movie, and then release it as a tie-in? Brilliant! Good job finding this! Quote
Forresto Posted October 24, 2009 Posted October 24, 2009 On the part of the train that holds the coal, it looks like it has the LEGO@ logo on the back. Quote
Batbrick Posted October 24, 2009 Posted October 24, 2009 Interesting. I doubt I'll get the train unless it is compatible with other styles of track, but I like that this may be it, looks good. Batbrick Away! Quote
The Who Posted October 25, 2009 Posted October 25, 2009 On the part of the train that holds the coal, it looks like it has the LEGO@ logo on the back.I'm almost positive that is actually the Lego logo. You have to tilt your head to the left to 'read' it properly. Quote
Oky Posted October 25, 2009 Posted October 25, 2009 I doubt that some train that appears in some flashback would be turned into a set, but I suppose it's a possibility until proven otherwise. Quote

(Making it my second train) Thinking about it though, how many trains could Andy have, with such a wide variety of toys? Only one or two, right? Quote
YG-49 Posted October 25, 2009 Posted October 25, 2009 I love this photo. It makes it look like there's mist in the Gold Mine. Quote
Brad-The-Brick Posted October 25, 2009 Posted October 25, 2009 I like how they made the flat peices crooked to make it look really classic. Quote
Oky Posted October 25, 2009 Posted October 25, 2009 Thinking about it though, how many trains could Andy have, with such a wide variety of toys? Only one or two, right? I think you're not thinking about it hard enough. Remember, this movie is about Andy giving his toys away, so we'll probably only see his room for only the first 15 minutes of the movie or so. The rest of the movie will take place elsewhere, and I bet the train is something from later on in the movie. I'm not a train fan either, but I'm a Pixar fan, so I'll probably get it anyway. And I happen not to like the look of that toy train, so I hope that my theory is true and that the actual "Western Train" is something much better looking, something more in the style of Emerald Night. ILikePi Posted October 25, 2009 Posted October 25, 2009 Wait, why is everyone talking about a Western train set? Do we have any proof? Can someone provide me a quote or link? Quote
desultor Posted October 25, 2009 Posted October 25, 2009 I love this photo. It makes it look like there's mist in the Gold Mine. I just noticed the brown boot printing on the side of Jesse's (and Woody's) legs. You guys think that was just done for the display? (Sorry if this has been asked/answered already.) Quote
Oky Posted October 25, 2009 Posted October 25, 2009 Wait, why is everyone talking about a Western train set? Do we have any proof? Can someone provide me a quote or link? I think it was on amazon at some point, and amazon hasn't been wrong so far. Plus, it was listed together with "Lotso's truck", and with rumors of Lotso, the teddybear from UP, being a character in TS3, the list sounds pretty legit. I just noticed the brown boot printing on the side of Jesse's (and Woody's) legs. You guys think that was just done for the display? No, these are the final figs, so what you see is what you get. It's details like this that make these figs much better than many people think they are. Quote

Plus, it was listed together with "Lotso's truck", and with rumors of Lotso, the teddybear from UP, being a character in TS3, the list sounds pretty legit. You're probably right regarding the train, it'll most likely factor in heavily to the plot, though the Indy KOTCS plane set didn't, that was odd. As for Lotso, sounds like an interesting character, probably the pink villain! I'm more interested in Mr Pricklepants though, voiced by the great Timothy Dalton. No, these are the final figs, so what you see is what you get. It's details like this that make these figs much better than many people think they are. I really hope that normal figs in the future might have print like that. Batbrick Away! Quote

Remember, this movie is about Andy giving his toys away, so we'll probably only see his room for only the first 15 minutes of the movie or so. The rest of the movie will take place elsewhere, and I bet the train is something from later on in the movie. This is true, but again remember how random the Plane was from KOTCS. It still has some potential to be the one, plus I think that looks way to much like the Lego logo not to be it.I'm not a train fan either, but I'm a Pixar fan, so I'll probably get it anyway. And I happen not to like the look of that toy train, so I hope that my theory is true and that the actual "Western Train" is something much better looking, something more in the style of Emerald Night. I do think it would look better as more of a Western set than red, yellow, and black. Kind of odd colors for a train if you ask me.You're probably right regarding the train, it'll most likely factor in heavily to the plot, though the Indy KOTCS plane set didn't, that was odd.Probably. I still haven't figured out why they chose such a random vehicle to make that set for. Surely they could have thought of something better...I really hope that normal figs in the future might have print like that.It would have been a nice addition to some previous figs, and especially helpful to Star Wars in general. Batbrick Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 It would have been a nice addition to some previous figs, and especially helpful to Star Wars in general. Yeah it would. Even though I'm not a huge fan of them, I would still like TLC to use the new longer arms and legs for future figs where it would improve them. I'd love to see an alien with huge arms or some-such. Batbrick Away! Quote
Brad-The-Brick Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 I've been thinking, what kind of brickfilms do you think lego toy story will inspire? Quote
The Who Posted October 30, 2009 Posted October 30, 2009 I'd love to see an alien with huge arms or some-such.I just remembered there is a Hagrid fig, and if there is some potential for a revived HP line...then we might could use these straighter arms for a Hagrid fig. Quote
Oky Posted October 30, 2009 Posted October 30, 2009 I've been thinking, what kind of brickfilms do you think lego toy story will inspire? Well, aside from the obvious (recreating scenes from the movies), I can see a lot of Buzz vs. Zurg fights and maybe some Western adventures with Woody. And as always, there will probably be some parodies, but I'm hoping there will be few of those, as those tend to be rather stupid. I just remembered there is a Hagrid fig, and if there is some potential for a revived HP line...then we might could use these straighter arms for a Hagrid fig. Hagrid already has longer arms. In fact, it could be that Woody & Jessie's arms are the same as Hagrid's. But I do like the idea of having those used for an SP3 baddie! Quote

I know he has long arms, but I think these are straighter, not quite as bent at the elbow. It would look better to have a straight arms when reaching out to grab something, wouldn't it? Quote
Brad-The-Brick Posted November 3, 2009 Posted November 3, 2009 It took a lot of thinking but I have decided. I'm going to buy every single lego toy story set that ever comes out. Quote
