squidman85 Posted December 13, 2009 Posted December 13, 2009 Hmmm...Dump truck is so...Toyish !. Is the main antagionist of the Toy Story 3 is BEAR?!? I so like Trash Compactor(it have a lot of traps and great minifigures)! In addition,in the train set there is a Rex and Ham with the cap! Quote
Dunjohn Posted December 13, 2009 Posted December 13, 2009 And a Rex fig! Hmmm...Dump truck is so...Toyish !.Is the main antagionist of the Toy Story 3 is BEAR?!? I so like Trash Compactor(it have a lot of traps and great minifigures)! In addition,in the train set there is a Rex and Ham with the cap! The pink bear is Lotso. I didn't know he is a bad guy. The image isn't clear, but does Woody have a different expression in the Trash Compactor set? Also, what's the brown smudge on the side of Lotso's truck? It almost looks like a weird, headless minifig with one arm extended, but that makes no sense. Quote

Yes,Lotso whanna "kill" Woody,i think.I think the trick set has a mutant toy. Quote
Reaper052 Posted December 13, 2009 Posted December 13, 2009 I am exited for the new hamm and lotso figures, but the Rex makes my brick-built one obsolete. I'll probably get all of these, though maybe not lotso's truck, I want his friends but I don't need two lotsos. Now I can get Jessie and bullseye without the prospector. And Lotso (Lots-o-love Bear) is the villain. He is the leader of the daycare the toys get left in and he's not in the first two movies. Reaper052 :skull: Quote
Tinn-man Posted December 13, 2009 Posted December 13, 2009 I love that train and the trash compactor. The crane/trash compactor set would make a nice Temple of Doom boulder smasher with a few modifications. Thanks for the pictures, Christian! Quote
ILikePi Posted December 13, 2009 Posted December 13, 2009 I found these today. It seems like they have not been posted yet.7596 7597 7789 Thanks for the find Christian! Interesting how we are getting Toy Story 3 set preliminaries right now! When are they going to be released? Did the movie even come out yet? My thoughts: 7596 Trash Compactor Escape This looks interesting! I like how you get Hamm (the piggy bank) and two of those claw grabber aliens! The price point seems to be about $40-$60 USD, not sure if it is a good deal or not. 7597 Western Train Chase Wow, another Western themed set! And another main Toy Story character (Rex, the tyrannosaurus)! It seems to be about $50 USD, if there are not many interior details or Technic structures that increase the piece count. This set looks fantastic, but I'll wait until we get more pics of what it includes before commenting more. 7789 Lotso's Dump Truck Hmm, this set looks...odd. I'll also wait before commenting on this, but it seems to be a $10 USD set. Thanks again Christian! Quote
just2good Posted December 13, 2009 Posted December 13, 2009 Wow, 7789 looks very Duplo-ish... But still, the others are epic win! Quote
Rick Posted December 13, 2009 Posted December 13, 2009 (edited) I'm sure train fans will really like that cow catcher. Looks like the train will come without a track, but with a pig with a hat... But considering the 'xxx' for piece count (and the confidential/preliminary watermark) these are preliminary designs and subject to change. Edited December 13, 2009 by Rick Quote
Clone OPatra Posted December 13, 2009 Posted December 13, 2009 Interesting how we are getting Toy Story 3 set preliminaries right now! When are they going to be released? Did the movie even come out yet? I think preliminaries now makes perfect sense. The movie comes out in June, and I believe this sets were scheduled to come out in a May release, a few weeks before the movie. Similarly to how the Indiana Jones KOTCS sets came out in late April, a few weeks before the movie was released in May, or how the SW Ep1 sets came out in spring of '99, a few weeks before Ep1 came out in May. It's a pattern! Quote
nintha Posted December 13, 2009 Posted December 13, 2009 (edited) Also, what's the brown smudge on the side of Lotso's truck? It almost looks like a weird, headless minifig with one arm extended, but that makes no sense. It is actually the brown/tan guy behind and to your left of the octopus in this picture. Or that is what I think. pic These sets do look good and I can't wait to get them. I am glad that we are going to get more of the main characters. I also can't wait to find out if Lotso is good or evil . And I found a picture of the Western Train from 7597 Western Train Chase from the movie. It is below Andy and next to the over-turned car. pic Edited for the huge size of the pics, sorry. Edited December 13, 2009 by nintha Quote

Or that is what I think. pic Good spot, yeah that looks like him. And on closer inspection, he's standing on a grey tile jutting out from under the truck. He must be important in the movie. Edit: Hey, new page. I'll quote Christian's post to make things easier on everybody. I found these today. It seems like they have not been posted yet.7596 7597 7789 Edited December 13, 2009 by Dunjohn Quote
The Who Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 I found these today. It seems like they have not been posted yet.<snip> Thanks Christian! I love all three of these already, more so than some of the coming January sets. I however do not exactly like the idea of the way of how Lotso reminds me of the Trolls from the Castle theme, but that opinion is subject to change. 7596 Trash Compactor Escape7597 Western Train Chase 7789 Lotso's Dump Truck Odd, looks like they are exploring names from Star Wars, Western sets, and City. It is actually the brown/tan guy behind and to your left of the octopus in this picture. Or that is what I think.Who is he anyway? And I found a picture of the Western Train from 7597 Western Train Chase from the movie. It is below Andy and next to the over-turned car.pic When we first saw that a few of us (including myself) were pretty sure that was indeed the train, and that it even appeared to have a Lego logo on the back of the engine, and now we are sure it is the train. I wonder if that is the logo on it or not though... Quote
Oky Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 Wow! TS3 prelims already? Awesome! My thoughts: 7596: Wow! This set looks pretty cool! Although a bit <insert that tiresome argument>. But it has a Ham fig! Woohoo! 7597: It's beautiful! Not <insert that tiresome argument> at all and very western-like! And it has Rex! Looks like whoever said that this would become a set was right. It still seems strange to me that they would make a set out of something that is seen in a corner of the screen in a flash back. Looking at that screen cap, it seems that the set is way out of scale too. But maybe that's just TLG trying to make a playable set. We'll see. 7789: This set looks very <insert that tiresome argument> as has been mentioned, but it's still a neat little affordable set with interesting figs. Lotso's facial expression and his position on the trash compactor really do imply that he is the bad guy in this movie. And why not? It's delicious irony that a pink teddy bear is an antagonist. Can't wait for the movie and these sets to come out! Quote
Reaper052 Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 I'm actually fine with the juniorization of Losto's truck. It looks like a cheap plastic dump truck, which is exactly what its based off of. Plus its a cheap way to get some new figures. Lotso, the purple octopus, and that orange rock looking guy. I really want to know what kind of character that orange guy is. He confuses me, and doesn't seem based on any real toy. I want to know his name and personality too. Reaper052 :skull: Quote
MaxGoof Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 The new sets look pretty cool, but are we not getting Lego minifigs of Slinky Dog, Bo Peep and the Potato Heads? I know those properties don't belong to Lego, but surely something can be worked out?? Quote
lightningtiger Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 It was only two days ago my son Zac asked me will Lego being out 'Ham', I said I don't know. Now when I tell him about an evil purple teddy bear wanting to compact 'Ham' HE WILL WANT IT ! Oh, dear city, Star Wars and now TOY STORY 1/2/3 me going to be very broke next year - oh well it's only money ! I'm impressed with the trash compactor, dump truck and of course a western style train - AWESOME ! Rock on 2010 !!! Quote
BlueDragonZ Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 First wave of toy story sets aren't even officially out yet and now we get some more new images of upcoming toy story sets. 2010 looks to be a really exciting year. Quote
The Green Brick Giant Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 I think the TS3 dump truck is the ugliest set we have seen so far for 2010. At first I thought it was a Duplo set until I saw the cabin roof piece that every vehicle has. Ick. Quote
Svelte Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 I don't know why everyone dislikes the dumper truck. It's NOT a normal minifig scale City construction set - it's a LEGO set deliberately designed to look like a toy Dumper truck. Of course it's going to look stripped down and simple. Quote
Oky Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 Yeah, but did the back part have to be one piece? And by the way, it actually is minifig scale, whether it's intended or not. The cabin has the same size as all the City construction sets. In other news: Woohoo! My local TRU finally had them! I got all of them except for Woody's Round Up and Build-A-Zurg which weren't there. I didn't even see a space for Zurg, so maybe it's really an exclusive after all. Reviews will come soon. Also, 7590, 7592, and 7593 are now available on Target's website. Haven't seen them in store though. Speaking of 7593, why is it not in the index? Not trying to be pushy, just wondering. Quote
Svelte Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 Yeah, but did the back part have to be one piece? And by the way, it actually is minifig scale, whether it's intended or not. The cabin has the same size as all the City construction sets. The whole sentence in context: 'minifig scale City construction set'. It may be minifig scale but it is not a City Construction set! It is supposed to look like a kid's toy. Does the Western Train look like a real Western train? No! For the same reason.... You're all a bunch of whiners! This is clearly intended to be a small, cheap set just to get you Lotso, Octopinky and whatever the hell that brown thing is. I will update the index, it obviously fell off in the last edit Quote

The Western Train Chase is probably the best set here. Sort of like a miniture train. Quote
The Green Brick Giant Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 Does the Western Train look like a real Western train? No! For the same reason.... No because it's a LEGO Train and not a real one! Thats what i thought at the beginning too. But the bear looks cool. I wonder if hes buildable. The Western Train Chase is probably the best set here. Sort of like a miniture train. To me the bear looks like and Orient Expedition "monster". http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=7411-1 In that case it is somewhat build-able. Quote
BlueDragonZ Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 To me the bear looks like and Orient Expedition "monster". Don't think the set is for you then as the truck looks ugly and the bear doesn't interest you at all. The western train looks good. Do we get a full track or only part of the track that we see in the box? Quote

Do we get a full track or only part of the track that we see in the box? I'm not sure we get any track at all. The box art looks painted in, although this is only a prelim image. It would certainly keep the price of the set down is they just released it as a 'push and go' model. Hopefully at the very least it will be compatible with the existing track. Quote
