lightningtiger Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 In the movie, it's a 'fantasy' sequence from the opening - like the Buzz game opening in TS2.- Tilius That would make sense, anyway how do you know how the movie starts - it's not out yet ? I'm a conformist! ! Quote
-Tilius- Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 People who've seen a rough cut of the film revealed it. Infact, the ending of the movie has also been revealed but I haven't read it. - Tilius Quote
Delta 38 Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 It's not just bananas, I bought some apples today and that had a token printed on the pack. I believe some packs of pears and oranges are also good for tokens.Three tokens gets you the alien space ship, yum! Ah, I see. Nice incentive for healthy eating. The only promos we have had here (to my memory) were the exact opposite, with Mcdonalds or snack foods instead. Quote
Ravenxl7 Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 Instructions of new Toy Story sets are available in LEGO.comincluding two promos 30070 and 30071 30070 Alien Space Ship 30071 Army Jeep Any idea if these will be available in the US? I'd love to get the Alien Space Ship, if not the Army Jeep too. It's too bad Rex isn't in a cheaper set, as I'd love to own his minifigure (he was, is, and always will be my absolute favorite Toy Story character). Neither of the two sets he's in are interesting enough to feel worth the purchase. Quote
fenris Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 didn't know where to post it and didn't want to open a new fred.. took some pictures of my army men from TOY-STORY... LINK TO THE PICS Quote
Oky Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 Any idea if these will be available in the US? Nope. Wish I did. If that UK promotion would be here too, I'd be living off of bananas for the next few months. didn't know where to post it and didn't want to open a new fred.. Aside from that strange comment those are some neat pics! Very WWII-ish. Quote
Ravenxl7 Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 Nope. Wish I did. If that UK promotion would be here too, I'd be living off of bananas for the next few months. Hmm...well, hopefully it isn't too long till we find out what their fate is for US release. I love bananas, so if the same promotion were to come over here, I'd be happy (it's unlikely, even though it's a great idea). I'm curious, have there been any rumors about more sets being in the works? Quote
Oky Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 Again, sadly no. And quite frankly, I'm not even sure if there are any more sets they could make. I mean, they already made every iconic vehicle there is, and locations are always hard to do because of the scale. Plus there are rumors of a POTC theme, which is very likely IMHO, and together with PoP and HP, there isn't much space left for TS. But IF there was another wave, this is what I would like it to look like: Alien battle pack $10 Sid's Toy Mutants Encounter $20-30 Claw Machine $40-50 Dinoco Gas Station $70 The latter would go great with the Pizza Planet truck! And who knows what other possibilities there are from the third movie (only 5 more weeks to go!)! An AFOL can dream... Quote

I seriously hope they make more sets of Toy Story, or my flickr account will get pointless and my Toy Story displays will get dusty. _ (2) I read the Toy Story 3 novel and there, in-fact, ARE many possibilities! But the Pizza Planet truck wasn't in the novel. I wont spoil anything else. Quote
FinalFeature Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 If there were more sets coming out i could see it being what Oky Wan Kenobi said. It would be cool if they had a sids room creature maker set. The original toy never made it but i think Lego could release a creationary of it. LegoGalactus Quote
just2good Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 (edited) A trip down memory lane..... Do you like the preliminary design or the current design better??? (including the box design) I like the prelim's. A link to a larger image of this Edited May 15, 2010 by just2good Quote
Oky Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 (edited) Well, there aint much of a difference, but the difference that is there certainly tells me I like the final designs better. Having the classic image of Woody 'n' Buzz on the "Toy Story Classic" sets was very fitting, but on these boxes it would have been kinda boring, and the way they feature the two most interesting characters from the set on each box makes for some nice variation. Also, the additional photoshopping that has been done on the box arts really enhance the compositions, especially on the trash compactor which only had a sketch as a background in the prelim. And the daycare is a better, more recognizable setting for the dump truck than a random street scene. As for the sets themselves, the only differences that I can see on these thumbnails are a larger, lighter colored turning wheel on the compactor, black wheels and white windows on the train, and an edgier design on the bed mold of the dump truck, all of which have been improved in the final version in my opinion. So, good job, TLG! Keep it up! (Please!!) Edited May 15, 2010 by Oky Wan Kenobi Quote
BFLV Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 30070 Alien Space Ship I see today in Paris the promo set alien space ship, free for 25 € purchase Quote
ILikePi Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 I bought 30040 Octopus at Target today, and I can confirm that the Club Code REG10 stands for "regular 2010", not Regal Theatres. That means that we'll be seeing the army man poly bag set near the check-out stands sooner or later. Quote

That means that we'll be seeing the army man poly bag set near the check-out stands sooner or later. Hmm, now that's rather strange. I doubt there has ever been an exclusive of this type over here. I've hardly seen any sets/impulses that come in bags sold here (minus collectibles). It would be great if the impulse came out here, but something tells me there's no chance of that happening. Quote
Dunjohn Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 That Tesco offer is available in the Republic of Ireland too, yay! Sometimes "UK Only" promotions cover us, sometimes they don't. Three tokens gets you the alien space ship, five gets you the kayring, and seven gets you the magnet set. As far as I could see, it's only on bananas. With about eight bananas per packet, I'll be swinging from the trees by the time I have enough. Quote
captainsamus Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 (edited) That's good to know. I personally think it would have been cool to have a theater promo. I wonder why the decided to use REG10 instead of the usual TAR prefix for Target promos? Possibly the REG prefix is because they're located at the registers, as opposed to the other Target promos which had been near the back? Edited May 18, 2010 by captainsamus Quote

Im definitely going to grab some for the alien spaceship! Excellent and cheap way to get this minifig! Quote
Dharkan Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 Those sets can be great for those who are into TS but for myself, other than Pizza Planet Truck, the other sets are kinda wierd and also the minifigs should've got the proper lego heads not those detailed ones. All in all, TS sets are more Toy than Lego in my opinion. Quote

Excellent and cheap way to get this minifig! Let's see... about 3x £1.50 for bananas (on sale today £1 per pack at my local Tesco, go grab'em! ) + £2.29 shipping and some 40p for a stamp, it adds up to about the same price as Bricklink for the alien minifig... but you do get a few pieces extra, plus LOTS of bananas! Excellent and cheap way to get this minifig! Well, bananas are €1.39 a bag, you need three so that's about €4, plus the €2.89 p&p they need, makes it around €7 each. The aliens are going for about €5-6 on Bricklink, but that's without the spaceship and the 24 bananas. Edit: Oh, hi Fugazi, where'd you come from.... Edited May 25, 2010 by Dunjohn Quote

All in all, TS sets are more Toy than Lego in my opinion. Well, not necessarily. I'm not the largest Toy Story fan, but I like the sets a lot. I can't really imagine, for example, Woody's head as a normal head. While I'm not very fond of it, there seems to be no other option... Of course, you have to remember it's essentially a toy of a toy. It doesn't seem like a large issue to me, though... On another topic, to fix the lack of a Jessie minifig, I'll be getting Woody's Round Up soon. If I get the garbage truck set, then I will have a much-needed normal version along with the dirty one. -JaMMiT- Posted June 6, 2010 Posted June 6, 2010 I love the new TS sets they have good detail i couldn't imagine woody as a normal minifig it wouldn't look right! Quote
