(A little off topic)

I saw Toy Story 3 at midnight yesterday, and I have to say, it IS the best movie ever!:cry_happy: It was sad, yet funny and nostalgic. LEGO could make a lot more sets from the movie. :classic:

Totally!

Did anyone / everyone else catch the LEGO minifigs hanging out in Sunnyside? :cry_happy::laugh:

Regarding the Buzz promo, it does mean Buzz is now in one more set than Woody (not counting the giant Construct-A-Buzz, just the minifigs). I half-wondered whether the reason Woody was chosen for the promo we learned about earlier was specifically to give him one more Buzz-less set to be in so as to tie his appearance count with Buzz, but now that's clearly not the case. It does seem a little strange that Woody's in one (or two) fewer sets than Buzz, but at any rate it's clear one's going to wind up with more than enough of both if one collects all the sets anyway.

I just watched the film. It's fantastic.

It's true that the Trash Compactor Escape set is a pretty major spoiler, but fortunately the set resembles the actual scene in no way whatsoever, so I'd kind of forgotten about it by that point. I think if I actually owned the set it would be a different matter.

The film actually makes me want to own the toys... unfortunately I'm saving up for a Tower Bridge right now.

I just saw the movie and i was very good, one of the best movies i have seen in a while. However

while I was watching there were times I remembered what Lego sets have been released that ruined a lot of the suprize, mainly the trash compactor. I realy wish they waited to release that one.....

If you have seen the movie you will know what i am talking about.

NOTE: IF YOU HAVE NOT WATCHED THE MOVIE DO NOT READ THE SPOILER I don't want to ruin anything for anyone.

I didn't watch the movie before I read the spoiler. I also watched the movie today. It was quite good, but...

yes, I totally agree with you.

I also came back with the Woody's Round Up set, meaning I only have one more set to go before I have rounded out my collection.

Like what? They have already done all the iconic vehicles from the movie, plus

a playset of the climax. The only other thing I could see as a set would be an Escape from Sunnyside playset.

Let's be realistic, people, there's barely any more potential for this theme. Maybe one more wave, but that's it. :sceptic:

Guess you could say that Buzz's ship is much better armed than the little alien's, hyuk hyuk hyuk!

Gawsh! You're sooo funny! Puns FTW!

Uhm, yeah, like a couple of months ago, in the trailer.

Why in the world would TLC (or anyone for that matter) care about appearance counts? They're just small sets to promote the larger sets and earn Lego (and Disney) even more money, just like any promo sets.

"In no way whatsoever"? Aren't you exagerating a bit? :hmpf: In my opinion, the only thing that is off is the scale of the crane. And Disney actually kept the pics of the set as secret as they could up until the release of the set, so you can't really blame them. It's funny though how everyone was eager for new pics, and now you're complaining that we got them. I personally wanted the sets as soon as possible, so I'm not complaining.

Oh no!

I haven't quite finished building Woody's Round Up, but I'm a little disappointed. Jessie doesn't have back printing! This confuses me, as the dirty Jessie I own does have back printing (clean). Just when I thought the whole dirty and clean versions thing was over...

For those of you that complain about the scale, the minifigs would be tiny if they were scaled to the Pizza Planet truck, garbage truck or the trash compactor. The funny thing about this is that some things, including Lotso's truck and RC (I think) actually require the minifigs to be a lot larger to be scaled properly.

I do agree with David though. Although I recognised the scene, I did find that the scene was quite different from the set, which I do in fact own. The whole thing is scaled badly, but I'm fine with that. If it weren't, the minifigs would be like grains of sand.

Why are people complaining about the scale of the figures - it's a childs toy - kids don't care as long as they look like Buzz, Rex, Woody, etc., and it's the figures they want - they'll stick lightsabers and blasters in the figure's hands to battle the evil Dr.Porkchop !

I'm a conformist! !

I just watched Toy Story 3, and the only Pizza Planet Truck I found was in a flashback of Lotso, when he is hitchhiking to Sunnyside. Could someone please tell me what the Piza Planet Truck set is based off of?

Posted

I guess because Lego love their vehicles so much, the truck appears more in TS2, but Andy's beat up old car might have being boring, but a pizza truck firing pizzas yeah that's Lego !

But why the spoiler for this piece of infomation ?

Anyway, I'm a conformist! ! :sweet:

Because it's a Toy Story 3 spoiler, and Toy Story 3 isn't out everywhere yet.

The Pizza Planet truck is based on the Toy Story 2 scene (though out of scale), and is just under the Toy Story 3 category because it's a summer release, and parents are going to be looking for stuff that says 'Toy Story 3' on.

Indeed. My current complaint is about Jessie's lack of back printing, and even though it is usually completely wrong, the scale doesn't bother me.

Too bad they didnt include a sid minifigure with the garbage truck set since he appeared in the third film. I hope the promo sets comes out in a wider availability soon. It might be like the power miner promos that were released in october.

LegoGalactus

That was Sid?!?

Then there would be the weird toy/human scale. But for the game that I've been thinking about....

Like a high ledge only humans can jump reaching new areas....

Currently, those are the only and final two Toy Story sets on my list (although I haven't seen the Pizza Planet truck set around anywhere yet). And yes, I am getting those for those exact reasons.

Speaking of the Pizza Planet Truck, I keep seeing a car which resembles it. It is a yellow Toyota with the white rear part, and I believe that is the actual car which the Pizza Planet version is based on. I've tried getting photos of it, but it's quite hard to find a specific car...

Try Target  .

BTW:

At the theature while seeing TS3, The were piles of Lego toy story (3) promo booklits. They included little games,a contest, interview, bookmark and poster. I might show some scans if I have time.

The Pizza Planet Truck has been in every Pixar movie (Except the Incredibles :hmpf_bad: ). The set itself is mainly based of a scene in Toy Story 2.

Well, I found the Pizza Planet Truck set today (though not at Target). I'm not completely happy with the segmented windscreen at the front (I don't think there is a piece which is eight studs wide for that), and the missing part at the back. I may eventually get around to fixing the hole, though. I'd rather sacrifice the ability to fit Rex in than have a hole in the back.

For fellow fans of this theme in the US who've been wondering where, when and/or whether the polybagged promo sets will become available here, I'd just like to note I found 30070 (the Pizza Planet alien with spacecraft) at Toys 'R' Us today. I was hopeful, given that TRU was already known to carry it in Canada, but since I hadn't seen any confirmation (before today) of them coming to the US, I was a smidge concerned.

(Please excuse me if it's already been reported here somewhere; I haven't been able to find any mention of it.)

I purchased 10 of the them this past Sunday at one of my local TRU, I'm going to be a little more help though.

Price:$3.99

UPC: 673419140522

TRU Item Number: 232632

This might help you locating them a little better, only 2 TRU in my area had them out of around 8-15. The TRU I went to had 50 of them in stock, I'm guessing that is the amount there getting.

Here's a pic I took of the polybagged sets:

There were about 40 at my local TRU, and they were located in between the LEGO aisle and the Mega Bloks/Best Lock/Knex aisle. The LGM is already one of my favorite minifigs after owning two for only a couple of days

One interesting thing to note is that on the instructions, the Club Code is "TRU10". So if you see any online instructions with that code, that means that we should be seeing that set at TRU soon (similar to REG10 for Target) :sweet:

Was there a delay on those? They were released here at the same time as the second TS wave.

I thought the Lego Woody looked creepy. He's nothing compared to the Duplo rendition.

Posted

You think the minifig Woody is creepy? That makes me very sad.

(I assume you're referring to the LEGO minifigure Woody as "Lego Woody" to differentiate it from the LEGO DUPLO one, though of course both are LEGO Woody. Was it that, or did you mean something else?)

I'm pretty sure he's saying that he thought the System Woody was creepy, but the Duplo one is even creepier.

It is! Look at those dead eyes, that vacant smile... this is a minifig that has seen some terrible, terrible things.

Yeesh! I don't see him that way at all. His expression is neutral enough to work in a variety of contexts, but still positive and warm enough to convey the character's innate good nature.

I'm a big fan of the Toy Story series and think they have done a good job in putting them into Lego form. I certainly don't have any issue with the minifigs, other than the height of the legs in Woody and Jessie, but then they are only trying to put some difference between the characters which is good. My main concern with the series though is the price, the whole lot have seemed fairly overpriced, so I have simply been waiting for them to come down a bit, whether it be on ebay or retail shops
