This. I'm sure that the generally good reaction given off from BZPower was noted at least once. Why would they avoid that and go back to the MU? It was getting way to complex there. I hope we stay away from it for a long time, or at least until going back there is another clean slate again, and one year isn't enough.

The complexity issue is exactly the reason that I think the story team is going to go back to the MU next year.

With the BIONICLE boat, the complexity of stories and characters and mysteries had been filling up so much space that it was getting hard for new BIONICLE fans to get onto the boat, so the story team realized that they had to simplify story to allow new fans in, so they swept the MU into a cupboard and made 2009. There is now more space on the boat, which is allowing the boat to start filling up with fans that don't know a thing about the MU.

However, you can't keep your problems in a cupboard forever; you have to face them eventually. While BIONICLE is benefiting from the new fresh air and fans without the MU, the story team knows that if they end BIONICLE without ever going back to solve the massive-cupboard-mess that is the MU, it'll be a major slap in the face to all those MU-loving fans who stuck around to see the MU eventually be saved from the Makuta. However, if they leave saving the MU for too long, MU-fans will start getting bored of BIONICLE with their questions unanswered, and when the story team finally does go back the MU, they will have to consider the new fans that don't know about the MU, so either the MU-return story will be so confusing all the new fans will spaz and be upset, or the story will be so simple that the MU-fans will spaz and be upset. Either way the BIONICLE boat will sink in storyline fail.

So the best solution seems to be returning to the MU next year (or maybe the year after), and concluding the story with a happy ending, while enough fans still know about the MU, allowing the story to be complex enough to answer and conclude all the mysteries and stories that the MU-fans want to know. With the MU out of the way for good, the story team is free to make another fresh start like 2009, only this time they won't be pestered by incomplete stories, and there won't be completely unrelated serials like RoS.

MU-fans might leave now that they're happy (which is the reason for 2008's cliff-hanger, to keep old fans), but seeing as they've seen how good the fresh-start of 2009 was, they're bound to stick around to see what BIONICLE does next. The story team will most likely cameo MU stuff in the future, or even take characters from the MU to become part of the completely fresh and new BIONICLE saga now that their story is finished in the MU. New fans can get onto the story easily, and old fans don't mind sticking around, and there's no unsolved mysteries to worry about.

:classic:

On the other hand, maybe us older fans don't actually contribute that much to BIONICLE's profit that much, and LEGO figures it would be more profitable to stay away from the MU until we get bored, and then forgetting about it completely. :hmpf_bad: I doubt that though, because it's us older fans that pretty much own the BIONICLE internet.

@ ShaddowCroc - As much as I would hate having a Lewa Remake that isn't actually Lewa, that very much makes sense. Although Makuta would be the biggest baddie, he's the universe, so there needs to be set-sized baddies for the goodie sets to fight. Currently there is the Rahkshi and possibly the Piraka and Skrall, as well as possibly possibly Takanuva. But for summer Tren Krom would make a good baddie.

I don't know so much about returning to the MU next year. I mean, fi this year is supposed to be a good jump in point, it sure wouldn't give one time to adjust to returning to this old universe and having a bunch of characters mashed into a one year story. Think about it, I know my writers did.

I think I'm getting an aproximate idea of what is going to happen. Change of plans included location. But not MU. Third junk of the planet, I remember Greg himself saying there was the Frost and the Jungle area. Which means it was decided. Which means something...

I hope next year, all the characters get sucked into an alternate reality where the material making up their bodies is eroding... and there's only System bricks present as transplants.

As the owner of BS01, I take offense to that, but that is your opinion.

What? No(n-cohesive) storyline makes your job easier!

Haven't you learned yet? Swert never takes the easy way out unless he's got to make an acutal decision. I've learned that from a year of working for him. :P

And the other other half have gears, and best of all, no parts break.

That would be the best year ever, storyline is for the weak.

We all know you own BS01, Swert. I don't think you need to add that into every post you make.

And in addition, this is the 2010 rumor topic, let's keep who owns what site out of the discussion.

Revamping old sets are surely the best way to suck money out of fans.

When I see pictures, I'll need to choose carefully... will probably be able to get only one set.

aren't there already pictures?

If you've got a reason out of this topic to believe that, link please now, but otherwise, no there aren't any picture leaks yet.

ah... sorry. I could've sworn somebody mentioned pictures somewhere...

Trust me - if there were pictures out there, we'd already have made 10+ pages of posts discussing them by now.

We already have 19 pages of discussing just the set list...

Why the hell would TLC be making a 10 year anniversary special, if next year is its 9th anniversary?

Because next year is the 10th year of BIONICLE, so that could be interpreted as a reason to celebrate, if they want to do it early.

Yeah but makes more sense to do the anniversery, since that is what Lego does.
